To be held at the co-located ISWC
2019
<http://iswc.net/iswc19/> the International Symposium on
Wearable Computers and UbiComp
2019
<http://ubicomp.org/ubicomp2019/>.
In London, September 9th - 13th
Workshop to be held on September 9th
The development and adoption of wearable technologies continues to
gain momentum in both industrial and consumer product arenas. With
wearable and on-body solutions offering new solutions to advance
the future of work (especially in the new rapidly evolving gig
economy), it is imperative that the people designing and creating
wearable technology interfaces and devices understand the impact
of their decisions on device accessibility and more broadly,
usability. Individuals with functional limitations or other
impairments could be left behind through poorly considered design
of the new wearable technologies. This workshop will bring
together experts in assistive technology, usability, and wearable
computing to discuss ways to help designers and technologists
create more accessible, usable, devices.
Papers may include topics such as:
· Accessible design for wearability for individuals with mobility
impairments
· Multimodal output for individuals with sensory impairments
· Creating accessible and wearable input interfaces
· Rapid prototyping interfaces for people with disabilities
· Examples of inclusive participatory design for assistive
technology
· The interplay of policy and design in the development process
· Targeting the effects of specific disabilities through
individual personas
· Designing for impairments associated with aging
· Creating wearable interventions to improve sensory and mobility
abilities
· Dissemination of techniques and processes for inclusive design
in an educational setting
· Impacting mobile device design via industry education and
regulatory mechanisms
· Case studies of wearable design for populations with
disabilities
· Use of audio and sonification in assistive technology devices
· Social acceptability of wearable assistive technology
· The role of policy and regulation in enhancing accessibility
· The design at intersection of technology, economics and policy
· Designing inclusive technology policies
· Engaging Industry Stakeholders in the inclusive design process
Workshop Paper Submission
We are soliciting original research contributions and will have a
peer-review process for submitted papers. We hope all accepted
workshop papers can be included in the ACM digital library and the
supplemental proceedings. Conference participants can sign up for
the workshop without submitting a paper.
Workshop papers may be 4-8 pages in format the template we are now
using is the SIGCHI styled. The template can be downloaded here:
https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template.
Alternatively, the Overleaf version can be found here:
https://www.overleaf.com/latex/templates/acm-conference-proceedings-master-template/pnrfvrrdbfwt.
Latex documents should use the "sigchi" template style. Word users
should use the interim template downloadable from the the ACM link
above.
Please Submit your papers by June 17, 2019 June 24, 2019
(extended)
to
