Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) 2023
Panama City, Panama, August 10-12, 2023
Track: Artificial Intelligence and Semantic Technologies for
Intelligent Information Systems (SIGODIS)
Mini-track: Unintended Consequences of AI
We invite submissions to the Unintended Consequences of AI (SIG
ODIS) mini-track at the Americas Conference on Information Systems
(AMCIS) 2023 to be held in Panama, August 10-12, 2023.
Artificial intelligence (AI) applications (such as ChatGPT and
Dall E2) are making a definitive impact on organizations and
society. AI applications are developed with goals of increased
revenue and efficiency in business processes. Yet, there have been
numerous cases that have shown AI can have unintended
consequences. Application of AI-technologies by organizations and
government have the potential to affect (sometimes adversely)
large portions of the populations, possibly containing vulnerable
societal groups.
We invite submissions that explore causes, risks, and mitigation
strategies for AI applications that can cause legal, financial,
and reputational damage to organizations and social harm.
Potential topics include:
* Unintended consequences of AI
* AI as a source of financial, legal, and social risks in AI
applications
* Negative impacts of algorithmic and AI-related recommendations.
* Adversarial use of AI in social media, healthcare, and crime.
* Auditing for AI applications
* Implications cyber-attacks in AI applications.
* Bias in AI applications
* Misuse of AI in government applications.
* Risks of taking AI project from pilot to organization-wide
applications.
