Smart Business
Ecosystems
No business is an island
and competition is increasingly taking place between
business networks and no longer between individual
companies. Information technology has been an important
enabler with systems for enterprise resource planning,
business intelligence or business process management. Driven
by new internet-based technologies, such as cloud, mobile,
social and ubiquitous computing as well as analytics and big
data, so-called smart infrastructures are emerging. From the
business side, they are conducive to new, more dynamic
relationships between companies, suppliers and customers,
which have referred to as ecosystems. Resources are
crowdsourced as services via platforms that yield new
business knowledge and business processes. A variety of
aspects is relevant for designing and understanding smart
business ecosystems. They reach from new business models,
value chains and processes to all aspects of analytical,
social and enterprise applications and platforms as well as
cyber-physical infrastructures.
The International
Conference on Business Information Systems (BIS) is a
well-established and respected event (ranked "B" in the CORE
ranking) bringing together international researchers to
discuss the wide range of the development, implementation
and application of information systems and technology in
business. It addresses the scientific community as well as
people involved in the development of business computer
applications, consultants helping to properly implement
computer technology and applications in the industry. All of
these groups are cordially invited to submit their original
work to the research track of BIS2016 and/or to the
practitioner-oriented workshops.
