Special Issue on Quantitative Research Methodology
In the course of conducting their research in information systems, researchers must oftentimes investigate, design, and develop sound methods or approaches to best conduct their research. Sometimes viewed as a sidetrack topic, or as a byproduct of the main research, such learning is often excluded from the journal literature and restricted to less accessible works. The aim of this special issue is to provide a forum for disseminating recently developed and advanced techniques for conducting quantitatively oriented information systems research.
The intent is to provide a broad scope that includes a diverse spectrum of quantitative research methods, ranging from exemplars to clearly written descriptions of how new, improved or advanced approaches to quantitative research have been carried out (e.g., a case study of quantitative research methodology). The issue is also open to idealized, general prescriptions for such approaches in comparison to existing ones (e.g., tutorials) as well as to literature reviews, philosophical essays, and analytical research papers.
Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Traditional quantitative IS methods versus new approaches, Strengths and limitations Merging and complimentary approaches The applicability of various methods to the IS field
Guest Editors for the Special Issue:
Wynne W. Chin, University of Houston, wchin@uh.edu Iris Junglas, University of Houston, ijunglas@uh.edu José L. Roldán, University of Seville, jlroldan@us.es
Submission Guidelines and Important Dates:
Papers may be submitted to the special issue anytime before September 21, 2009. Submit using the EJIS online paper submission system at http://ejis.msubmit.net/cgi-bin/main.plex (Select the Quantitative Special Issue during submission) Follow the EJIS formatting guidelines at http://ejis.msubmit.net/cgi- bin/main.plex?form_type=display_auth_instructions (Note that papers should be no longer than 8000 words)
