ASP08 will run on 2 April, 2008 as part of the 15th IEEE International Conference on the Engineering of Computer-based Systems (ECBS) from 31 March to 2 April, 2008. This one-day workshop, sponsored by BT, will provide a forum for both practitioners and researchers in agile methods to present and discuss their latest innovations, ideas, methods and experience. The expectation is a mix of research from those influencing the development of agile methods and lessons learned from those at the coalface, implementing agile methods and processes in practice. As well as presentations, there will be a keynote address and the opportunity for debate on relevant issues.
Agile Processes are about delivering early and frequent value to customers and being able to adapt to the changing environment in which software frequently operates. Being agile involves a much greater emphasis on customer collaboration, the human aspects of software development and on the main concern of producing working software. The area is relatively young but there is already evidence around to suggest that agile methods increase productivity and quality of software. There are also opportunities to develop further the methods, tools and techniques applicable to agile methods and to learn form the experience of early adopters. This workshop invites previously unpublished papers from researchers and practitioners in areas related to achieving agility in the software process. The workshop will provide a forum for researchers, managers, developers and educators to discuss the latest innovations and opportunities in agile software development. Research and industrial research and development papers are both welcome. Sample areas of interest for the workshop include, but are not limited to:
* Agile project management * Decision support for agile methods * Using Agile for Embedded software development * Economics of agile software development including contract management * Empirical studies of agile methods * Evolution of Software using agile methods * Global Software Development with Agile * Innovation in current agile practices such as pair programming, refactoring, test driven development etc and proposed new practices * Methods and tools for agile software development and their effectiveness * Open Source Software in Agile Methods * Quality standards in Agile Methods * Process Assessments for Agile Methods * Release and Product Planning in Agile Methods * Scaling of Agile methods * Software architecture in agile methods * Tailoring Agile Methods * Team and Human factors in Agile Development * Testing in agile methods
Accepted full papers will appear in the ECBS 2008 proceedings, published by the IEEE Computer Society. Full papers are expected to provide some additional, previously unpublished findings or knowledge. Industrial papers describing significant experience or new practice are welcome. Extended abstracts are also accepted for consideration for a poster presentation.
Submission Full papers must be a maximum of 10 pages in IEEE Computer Society Format, poster abstracts 1 to 2 pages and industrial short papers a maximum of 5 pages. Please send papers as pdf/ps/MS Word documents to des.greer@qub.ac.uk.
