The future model for providing IT infrastructure and services in large organizations is what many today are calling 'Cloud Computing.' Some estimates are that by 2011 the volume of Cloud Computing market opportunity will amount to $160 billion, including $95 billion in business and productivity apps (e-mail, office, CRM, etc.) and $65 billion in online advertising.
IT Professional (www.computer.org/itpro), a bimonthly publication of the IEEE Computer Society, is running a special issue on Cloud Computing that will publish in Q1 of 2009. We are currently soliciting articles that would be of particular interest to IT Professionals in enterprise IT and the technical decision-makers in enterprise lines of business. Possible topics include but are not limited to SaaS applications, Cloud Computing Architectures, Service Level Agreements, Privacy, Security, Deployment, Operations, and overall Business Value Propositions.
IT Pro articles should not be typically academic in nature; rather they should focus on delivering useable domain knowledge and insights that are of value in the now to near time horizon for developers and IT managers. Articles are refereed and we have a very rapid submission-to-publication cycle that ensures a timely delivery of published content.
Please contact the Issue editors with any questions. Author guidelines and the submission portal are provided at www.computer.org/itpro through the "Write for IT Pro" link.
