*HCSE* is a single-track working conference that brings together researchers and practitioners interested in strengthening the scientific foundations of user interface design, examining the relationship between software engineering and human-computer interaction and on how to strengthen human-centered design as an essential part of software engineering processes. HCSE 2014 is the 5th edition of a bi-annual conference series promoted by Working Group 13.2 “Methodologies for User-Centered Systems Design” of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).
*CONFERENCE PROGRAM*
Highlight of the program are two invited keynote speeches by distinguished, internationally renowned experts and researchers:
- *Wil van der Aalst* (Eindhoven University of Technology): How People Really (Like To) Work: Comparative Process Mining To Unravel Human Behavior - *Margaret Burnett* (Oregon State University): End-User Software Engineering: Beyond the Silos
HCSE 2014’s *technical program* contains 13 full research papers, describing substantial novel contributions and advanced results, and 10 short papers, providing practice and experience reports, practical evaluations as well as late breaking results. The submissions in both categories were peer-reviewed and selected by the more than 40 international experts of the program committee.
*Conference proceedings* are published in print and electronically by Springer in their Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
Additionally, a *user experience event* allows participants to demonstrate, communicate, discuss and present new ideas, in interactive and informal formats.
The technical program is complemented by several *social activities*, such as the welcome reception, the conference banquet and tours.
