AI for HPC: Experiences and
Opportunities |
Thursday, 11 March 2021 •
11:00 am - 12:00 pm ET
Anne
C. Elster, Professor of High
Performance Computing,
Norwegian University of
Science and Technology |
|
|
|
This talk
will be focused on how AI
techniques can be used in the
development of HPC environment
and tools. As larger HPC systems
become more and more
heterogeneous by adding GPUs and
other devices for performance
and energy efficiency, they also
become more complex to write and
optimize the HPC applications
for. For instance, both CPU and
GOUs have several
types of memories and caches
that codes need to be optimized
for. We show how AI techniques
can help us pick among 10s of
thousands of parameters one
ends up needing to optimize for
the best possible performance of
some given complex applications.
Ideas for future opportunities
will also be
discussed.

Standards for Cloud Federation |
Tuesday, 16 March 2021 •
11:00 am - 12:00 pm ET
Dr.
Robert Bohn, Program Manager,
NIST Cloud Computing Program
& Martial
Michel, Ph.D., Chief
Scientific Officer, Data
Machines Corp |
|
|
|
This talk
will focus on the work performed
under the IEEE/P2320
working group on Standards for
Intercloud Interoperability. The
P2302 worked collaboratively
with NIST at the start of this
project to produce the
NIST Cloud Federation Reference
Architecture (NIST SP 500-332,
Feb 2020). The P2302 team
accepted this material as expert
input in the development of
the standard. The current
standard describes the
governance, topology, and the
functions of cloud federation in
four layers of increasing
complexity.
