Introduction A blockchain (BC) is a data structure consisting of a growing list of data records, called blocks, that are linked together using cryptography. It is an open, decentralised ledger that can record transactions between parties across a peer-to-peer network, without the need for a central certifying authority. BC technology is expected to grow by about 43% by the end of 2020. Global spending on this technology in 2019 alone has amounted to over $2 billion. This technology has numerous advantages that include: increased transparency, reduced transaction costs, faster transaction settlement, automation of information, increased traceability, improved customer experience, improved digital identity, better cyber security, and user-controlled networks. Potential applications include funds transfer, smart contracts, e-voting, efficient supply chain etc., in nearly every sector of the society including finance, healthcare, law, trade, real estate, etc. Challenges and limitations also exist viz: high energy consumption, limited scalability, complexity, security, network size, lack of regulations, etc. Nevertheless, blockchain is an attractive technology, and has much to offer to the modern-day industry. It is in this context that the proposed book will be developed. The aim is: 1) to investigate the Blockchain technology, its adoption and effectiveness in banking, other industries and in general, for IoT based applications; 2) to present use cases from industrial and financial sectors as well as from other transaction-based services; and 3) to fill a gap in this respect and extend the existing body of knowledge in the suggested field. 1. Suggested Topics Focus is on Industry Use Cases. The relevant topics include: · Blockchain (BC) concepts and historic perspective · Technology, platforms, tools and architecture · BC for ERP, CRM, retail, and supply chain · BC security, data privacy, and cryptography · BC smart contracts and blockchain as a service · BC technology in IoT based applications and IIoT · Bitcoin and BC applications for business organisations · Use cases in banking, insurance and cryptocurrencies · Use cases in energy, real estate, and manufacturing · BC applications in government, health care, and leisure · Use cases in media and entertainment · BC use cases in automotive industry · Use cases in transportation and manufacturing · Societal and legal implications of use of BC · BC opportunities, threads and limitations · BC digital identity, and cyber security · Standards, adoption, current research and developmwnt · Future directions and other relevant topics It is expected that the book will comprise a number of sections. A tentative idea is as follows: · Section 1 - Concepts, Principles and Architecture: Concepts, principles, historic perspective, evolution. frameworks, architecture, tools, blockchain in IoT, blockchain in Industrial IoT environments · Section 2 - Blockchain in Financial Sector: Use cases in banking and insurance, bitcoin, crypto currencies, smart contracts, cyber security, authentication, digital identity, issues and limitations · Section 3 - Use cases in Government and Industry: Use cases in government and media, blockchain for manufacturing and transport, blockchain applications in healthcare, leisure, blockchain for business organisations · Section 4 - Opportunities and Future Directions: Advantages, issues, threats, opportunities and limitations, Societal and legal implications of blockchain, Standards, adoption, and future of blockchain 3. Submission Procedure Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit 1-2-page chapter proposals clearly stating the objective, scope and structure of the proposed chapters - by the deadline mentioned above. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified within two weeks (in most cases) and given guidelines for full chapter preparation. Completed chapters should be approximately 10,000 words or 20-30 pages in length – longer chapters will also be acceptable. Full chapters will be reviewed following a double-blind peer review process to ensure relevance, quality, originality and high information content. IGI’s e-editorial discovery system will be used for most the chapter development and submission processes. The objective of this minitrack is to focus not only on the antecedents, development processes, and consequence of phenomena related to the negative side of IT and use, but also on potential control techniques and behavioral interventions. Via this minitrack, we seek to provide IT developers, parents, managers, psychologists, and policy makers with a deeper understanding of the dark sides of IT use in a multitude of contexts. During the last decades, Digital Governance has been recognized as a well-established application domain studying the problems related to the needs of public sector operation and proposing novel methods and frameworks for enhancing service quality through the use of ICT. Substantial progress has been made through EU and national funded research in a number of areas, yet the lack of scientific foundations in the Digital Governance domain seems to hinder unlocking its real transformative value and full potential to all stakeholders, from researchers to industry and SMEs. Providing such a scientific background would document the existing knowledge and open the pathway for systematic and reproducible solutions to identified problems, without the danger of repeating research or missing opportunities for application. Objective of the Book This title aims at providing the latest research advancements and findings for the scientific systematization of the Digital Governance and Transformation knowledge, such as core concepts, foundational principles, theories, methodologies, architectures, assessment frameworks, educational programs and future directions. It will bring forward the ingredients of this new domain, proposing its needed formal and systematic tools, exploring its relation with neighboring scientific domains and finally prescribing the next steps for eventually achieving the thrilling goal of laying the foundations of a new science. This book is an activity stemming from Government 3.0 Erasmus+ project (www.gov30.eu) Target Audience The audience of the book includes: ● Researchers and Practitioners in the Digital Governance Domain, Digital Transformation, Information Systems and in the broader ICT domain ● University Students and Professors from different disciplines ● ICT industry experts, engaged in public sector information systems, software design and deployment projects ● Policy makers and decision drivers at local, national or international level The title will contribute to the analysis of the scientific perspectives of Digital Governance and Transformation, thus becoming an indispensable support tool for scientists and practitioners, either from the administrative or the technical side. In parallel and part of the above, there is an enormous growth in user interfaces and in information visualization technologies. The range of interfaces is growing by the day - from tiny smart watch screens to wall-size large public displays. Regarding virtual advanced interfaces, there are several successful examples, for instance, applications of 3D technologies for virtual museums. The use of (web) 3D in cultural heritage promotion allows the general public to live immersive experiences in virtual, reconstructed locations, like ancient towns and locations, and to visit existent, but remotely located locations, such as world-wide cultural institutions (such as Google Art Project). For preservation purposes, web 3D provides scholars and cultural heritage professionals with a way to consult and maintain visual repositories of real exhibits, with the possibility of visualizing, comparing and studying 3D digital equivalents of real artworks physically situated in different locations. Cultural heritage is one challenging domain of application for such novel ICT technology. CH is ubiquitous - just look around you. There is an abundance of CH related information available, about almost every object we can think of. How can we access and enjoy this information in Ubiquitous Computing scenario? Advanced and natural human-computer interaction is a key factor in enabling access to cultural heritage. Visual interfaces, whether they are tiny mobile screens or large wall mounted displays, can all be part of a ubiquitous CH infrastructure, where information can be personalized and displayed/projected, on screens or overlaid on real objects and advanced form of interaction could be experimented with (e.g., gestural interaction, augmented interaction, vocal interaction, etc.). Following the wealth of studies and publications in recent years focusing on exploring the potential of novel technology to enhance CH experience, the success of AVI-CH 2016 (that yielded a follow-up special issue focused on advances visual interfaces for cultural heritage), and considering that 2018 has been declared the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the goal of the workshop is again to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in exploring the potential use of state-of-the-art advanced visual interfaces in enhancing our daily cultural heritage experience.
