CALL FOR PAPERS - Blockchain Cases and Innovations minitrack
Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-57), Waikiki,
Hawaii, January 3-6, 2024
http://www.hicss.org/ <http://www.hicss.org/>
Blockchain Cases and Innovations minitrack, under the Organizational
Systems and Technology track
https://hicss.hawaii.edu/tracks-57/organizational-systems-and-technology/#b…
<https://hicss.hawaii.edu/tracks-57/organizational-systems-and-technology/#b…>
Blockchain, the technology underlying cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, has
been receiving considerable attention in recent years, as new use cases
in the public and private sector have been identified. What started as a
solution to the double-spending problem in Bitcoin, is being explored as
the backbone technology in scenarios where a trusted third party (e.g.,
a notary or a bank) is normally required. Using this technology,
transactions are securely registered on a data structure (aka the
ledger) replicated across a network of peers that validate the entries
using a consensus mechanism. New records are cryptographically linked to
existing ones, rendering them virtually immutable. The resulting
auditability and transparency have been leveraged in proposing
innovative solutions to land registries, to stop the spread of conflict
diamonds, to fight the counterfeiting of medication, to make supply
chains less opaque, and, generally, to promote new financial services.
Additionally, blockchains can also store and enforce the execution of
algorithmic code know as smart contracts – pieces of code that are
executed automatically once predetermined conditions are met – further
reducing uncertainty and promoting confidence among stakeholders that
would not normally trust each other. Nevertheless, we are still in the
early days of blockchain adoption, compared by some to the introduction
of the World Wide Web itself. Then, as now, few if any could predict the
full extent of the disruptive innovations that would emerge fostered by
this emerging technology.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Innovative uses of Blockchain technology
• Blockchain case studies, applications, and implementations
• Blockchain and privacy, security, and identity
• Blockchain and digital transformation
• Decentralized Finance (DeFi)

- All submitted papers will be judged based on their quality and
relevance through double-blind reviewing, where the identities of the
authors are withheld from the reviewers. As an author, you are required
to make a good-faith effort to preserve the anonymity of your
submission, while at the same time allowing the reader to fully grasp
the context of related past work, including your own. It is recognized
that, at times, information regarding the identities of authors may
become public outside the submission process (e.g., if a pre-print is
published as a technical report or on a pre-print server). The PC will
ignore this external information. Minimally, please take the following
steps when preparing your submission:
- Remove the names and affiliations of authors from the title page.
- Remove acknowledgment of identifying names and funding sources.
- Use care in referring to related work, particularly your own. Do not
omit references to provide anonymity, as this leaves the reviewer unable
to grasp the context. Instead, reference your past work in the third
person, just as you would any other piece of related work by another author.
- Submissions that do not conform to the above anonymization and
formatting guidelines (e.g., are too long, use fonts or line spacing
smaller than what is indicated) or are unoriginal, previously published,
or are under submission to multiple venues concurrently, will be desk
rejected without review.
- If you have any question regarding paper submission, please do not
hesitate to contact the conference PC Chairs: Anne-Marie Kermarrec, Dan
Kim, Alexandre Maurer.
SRDS 2023 will include an Artifact Evaluation (AE) process, allowing
artifacts (software, data sets, ...) used in research to be validated
and actively disseminated together with accepted papers. Submitting
artifacts for evaluation is optional but strongly encouraged, as public
and reusable artifacts foster replication, reproduction, and extension
of research results. Artifact submission will be available for accepted
papers shortly after notification, so authors should be prepared in advance.
*** BEST PAPER AWARD ***
All accepted papers SRDS will compete for the "Prof. C. V. Ramamoorthy
Best Paper Award". The SRDS Best Paper is named after Prof. Chittoor V.
Ramamoorthy, who was instrumental in the 80’s for the success of SRDS,
many of his former students have also significantly contributed to the
conference.

Dear colleagues,
We are happy to announce a call for submissions for the
*Special Issue "Smart Cities: IoT and Sustainability as Drivers for
Future Developments" (ISSN 2071-1050).*
Public entities, cities, and municipalities are progressively
acknowledging that the effects of climate change, energy policy, and the
continual advancement of digital technologies necessitate a
recalibration of resource utilization and practical measures. To this
end, smart solutions are often deployed, or Internet of Things
technologies are used to support changes in the way resources and
energies are traded, e.g., by controlling appliances to make better use
of renewable energy. The aim of this journal is to examine and discuss
the latest contributions related to the Internet of Things and
sustainability trends for smart cities. The authors are encouraged to
showcase sample applications, technological advancements, and
intelligent solutions that facilitate enhanced resource and/or data
management.
The intelligent handling of data will be a key prerequisite for creating
transparency and, at the same time, supporting resource-saving actions;
for example, the requirement to install smart meters and the
availability of dynamic tariffs is not automatically associated with an
improvement in resource consumption.
Scientists are called upon to present their own new ideas and approaches
to solutions and, above all, to address problems that have not yet been
solved.
The call for submissions for "Smart Cities: IoT and Sustainability as
Drivers for Future Developments", belonging to the section "Sustainable
Urban and Rural Development", focuses on the following topics in the
background of Smart Cities and sustainability:
Applications from the field of the Internet of Things or the use of data
science and AI methods for dealing with big data, e.g., environmental
data or open data as a basis for citizen participation in sustainable
decisions.
Approaches, applications, and solutions for sustainable energy supply or
sustainable management of resources in smart cities e.g., use of
renewable energy sources, water management in rural areas (extreme
weather events)
Approaches, applications, and solutions to improve the circular economy
or logistics in smart cities.
Case studies and best practices are also welcome for submission in the
aforementioned topics.
*Important dates*
Deadline for manuscript submissions: 1 December 2023

continual advancement of digital technologies necessitate a
recalibration of resource utilization and practical measures. To this
end, smart solutions are often deployed, or Internet of Things
technologies are used to support changes in the way resources and
energies are traded, e.g., by controlling appliances to make better use
of renewable energy. The aim of this journal is to examine and discuss
the latest contributions related to the Internet of Things and
sustainability trends for smart cities. The authors are encouraged to
showcase sample applications, technological advancements, and
intelligent solutions that facilitate enhanced resource and/or data
management.
The intelligent handling of data will be a key prerequisite for creating
transparency and, at the same time, supporting resource-saving actions;
for example, the requirement to install smart meters and the
availability of dynamic tariffs is not automatically associated with an
improvement in resource consumption.

---------------------------
Types of Submissions
---------------------------
SLE accepts the following types of papers:
* Research papers: These are “traditional” papers detailing research
contributions to SLE. Papers may range from 6 to 12 pages in length
and may optionally include 2 further pages of bibliography/appendices.
Papers will be reviewed with an understanding that some results do not
need 12 full pages and may be fully described in fewer pages.
* New ideas/vision papers: These papers may describe new,
unconventional software language engineering research positions or
approaches that depart from standard practice. They can describe
well-defined research ideas that are at an early stage of
investigation. They could also provide new evidence to challenge
common wisdom, present new unifying theories about existing SLE
research that provides novel insight or that can lead to the
development of new technologies or approaches, or apply SLE technology
to radically new application areas. New ideas/vision papers must not
exceed 5 pages and may optionally include 1 further page of
bibliography/appendices.
* SLE Body of Knowledge: The SLE Body of Knowledge (SLEBoK) is a
community-wide effort to provide a unique and comprehensive
description of the concepts, best practices, tools, and methods
developed by the SLE community. In this respect, the SLE conference
will accept surveys, essays, open challenges, empirical observations,
and case study papers on the SLE topics. These can focus on, but are
not limited to, methods, techniques, best practices, and teaching
approaches. Papers in this category can have up to 20 pages, including
bibliography/appendices.
* Tool papers: These papers focus on the tooling aspects often
forgotten or neglected in research papers. A good tool paper focuses
on practical insights that will likely be useful to other implementers
or users in the future. Any of the SLE topics of interest are
appropriate areas for tool demonstrations. Submissions must not exceed
5 pages and may optionally include 1 further page of
bibliography/appendices. They may optionally include an appendix with
a demo outline/screenshots and/or a short video/screencast
illustrating the tool.
**Workshops**: Workshops will be organized by SPLASH. Please inform us
and contact the SPLASH organizers if you would like to organize a
workshop of interest to the SLE audience. Information on how to submit
workshops can be found on the SPLASH 2023 Website.

make sure that you always use the latest ACM SIGPLAN acmart LaTeX
template(https://www.acm.org/binaries/content/assets/publications/consolida…,
and that the document class definition is
`\documentclass[sigplan,anonymous,review]{acmart}`. Do not make any
changes to this format!
Ensure that your submission is legible when printed on a black and
white printer. In particular, please check that colors remain distinct
and font sizes in figures and tables are legible.
To increase fairness in reviewing, a double-blind review process has
become standard across SIGPLAN conferences. In this line, SLE will
follow the double-blind process. Author names and institutions should
be omitted from submitted papers, and references to the authors’ own
related work should be in the third person. No other changes are
necessary, and authors will not be penalized if reviewers are able to
infer their identities in implicit ways.
All submissions must be in PDF format. The submission website is:
https://sle23.hotcrp.com
---------------------------
Concurrent Submissions
---------------------------
Papers must describe unpublished work that is not currently submitted
for publication elsewhere as described by SIGPLAN’s Republication
Policy (http://www.sigplan.org/Resources/Policies/Republication).
Submitters should also be aware of ACM’s Policy and Procedures on
Plagiarism (http://www.acm.org/publications/policies/plagiarism_policy).

---------------------------
All submitted papers will be reviewed by the program committee.
Research papers and tool papers will be evaluated concerning novelty,
correctness, significance, readability, and alignment with the
conference call. New ideas/vision papers will be evaluated primarily
concerning novelty, significance, readability, and alignment with the
conference call. SLEBoK papers will be reviewed on their significance,
readability, topicality and capacity of
presenting/evaluating/demonstrating a piece of BoK about SLE.
For fairness reasons, all submitted papers must conform to the above
instructions. Submissions that violate these instructions may be
rejected without review, at the discretion of the PC chairs.
---------------------------
Artifact Evaluation
---------------------------
For the seventh year, SLE will use an evaluation process for assessing
the quality of the artifacts on which papers are based to foster the
culture of experimental reproducibility. Authors of accepted research
papers are invited to submit artifacts. For more information, please
have a look at the Artifact Evaluation
(http://www.sleconf.org/2023/ArtifactEvaluation.html) page.

*Call for Papers für den WI2023-Track „Enterprise Modeling & Business
Ecosystems“*
https://wi2023.de/track-11/
18. Internationale Tagung Wirtschaftsinformatik vom 18. bis 21.
September 2023 an der Universität Paderborn
Track-Beschreibung
==========
derzeitigen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten hinaus an Relevanz gewinnen – was
In
begrenztem Umfang können auch Ideen- und Positionspapiere akzeptiert werden.
