Blockchain Technology and Applications
A Blockchain is a decentralized digital ledger that saves transactions
on thousands of computers around the globe. Blockchain, the technology
underlying the infamous Bitcoin cryptocurrency, has been receiving
considerable attention in recent years, as new use cases in the public
and private sector are identified. What started as a mechanism to avoid
the double spending problem with digital money is being experimented in
scenarios where a trusted third party (e.g. a notary or a bank) was
normally required. Using this technology, transactions are securely
registered in a ledger distributed across a network of peers that
validate the entries using a consensus mechanism. The high importance of
blockchain has attracted the attention of organizations in different
sectors and has resulted in the development of innovative organizations
and new job positions. Currently, few if any could predict the full
extent of the disruptive innovations that would emerge fostered by
Blockchain technology. This track seeks to serve as an annual venue that
will enable the discussion on the trends, challenges and developments of
Blockchain technology. In doing so, it aims to speed up the study and
accelerate the adoption of this technology. Topics of interest include
the following but are not limited to:
• Blockchain case studies
• Blockchain infrastructure
• Blockchain and banking
• Blockchain and peer-to-peer transfers
• Blockchain and digital currencies
• Blockchain and Internet of Things
• Blockchain and markets
• Blockchain and marketplaces
• Blockchain and healthcare
• Blockchain applications
• Blockchain and e-government
• Blockchain and Banking sector

Subject: [computational.science] CFP - Workshop on Goal-directed
Execution of Answer Set Programs (GDE 2021)

From: Miguel Areias <miguel-areias(a)dcc.fc.up.pt>

                         CALL FOR PAPERS
GDE 2021: Workshop on Goal-directed Execution of Answer Set Programs
https://utdallas.edu/~gupta/gde21
=========================================================================
A workshop of 37th International Conference on Logic Programming
                      September 20-27, 2021
                   (the event will be virtual)
=========================================================================
Workshop Aim:
*************
Answer set programming is a successful extension of logic programming
for solving combinatorial problems as well as knowledge representation
and reasoning problems. Most current implementations of ASP work by
grounding a program and using a SAT solver-like technology to find the
answer sets. While this approach is extremely efficient, relying on
grounding of the program leads to significant blow-up of the program
size, and computing the whole model makes finding justification of an
atom in the model hard. This limits the applicability of ASP to
problems dealing with large knowledge bases. Goal-directed or
query-driven execution strategies have been proposed that do not
require grounding. The goal of this workshop is to foster discussion
around challenges and opportunities that such approaches present.
Tentative list of topics include:
*********************************
* Non-grounding based implementations of ASP
* Constructive Negation
* Implementation Technology for Goal-directed ASP
* Applications of Goal-directed ASP
* Query-driven Constraint ASP
* System Description
* Tabling in goal-directed ASP Systems
* Coinductive Logic Programming and ASP
Submission Instructions:
************************
Technical papers, position papers, as well as extended abstracts are
welcome. Papers should be maximum 15 pages long and in LNCS Format.
Email the paper in pdf format to the workshop organizers by the
deadline date.
Important Dates:

The 20th International Conference on Perspectives in Business
Informatics Research (BIR 2021) invites papers for the Doctoral
Consortium of Business Informatics Research. Papers must be related to
the topics of the BIR 2021 Conference.
The Doctoral Consortium of Business Informatics Research is intended to
be a forum for researchers who are doctoral students with the purpose to
discuss their PhD research work. The participants in the Doctoral
Consortium will have the opportunity to present their papers, engage in
discussions with the faculty members and receive feedback from them in
order to improve their doctoral theses. Moreover, the participants in
the Doctoral Consortium will have the opportunity to identify research
issues that are related to their research interest and exchange
knowledge with other doctoral students.
Papers should reflect the current status of the author's PhD project,
presenting a problem statement and research questions, scientific
framing against existing literature in the problem domain, the research
design and method, the proposed contribution and results achieved so
far, as well as existing or planned evaluations of the contribution.
Papers Selection
All Doctoral Consortium papers should have a PhD student as single
author, describing that student's PhD work. Papers that happen to have a
PhD student among authors, i.e. not focusing on an individual's doctoral
research progress, should be directed either to the main conference or
to the workshops, allowing the Doctoral Consortium to focus on its
expected mission
All the papers submitted to the Doctoral Consortium will be reviewed by
two faculty members who are senior researchers in business informatics.
The papers will be evaluated based on the following criteria: relevance,
originality, appropriate research methodology, research contribution,

WORKSHOP SCOPE
In the last few years, software systems are moving towards blockchain
technologies since they bring many advantages in different sectors.
Thanks to smart contracts, data can be manipulated and accessed by users
like in standard databases. This opportunity, combined with the
blockchain potentialities, such as the integrity and immutability of
data, guarantees trusted evidence of the information stored and
exchanged in the blockchain without relying on a central authority. This
makes the blockchain the ideal technology for auditing, verification and
sharing purposes, changing significantly the way to design and implement
next-generation distributed applications.
Recently, both academia and industry show an increasing interest in
blockchain, focusing on trusted data sharing. The scientific results of
the workshop have the ambition to change the way to organize, store,
retrieve and share data.
> From the technical perspective, the workshop can break the technological barriers for data management on blockchain technologies, proposing novel approaches and solutions.
Conceptual, technical, application-oriented and case study contributions
are welcomed within the themes of this workshop.

Dear all,
there are four days left to submit your work to the 2nd AIS SIG DITE
paper development workshop hosted by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam,
University of Hamburg, and IESE Business School. The workshop will be
held online in the form of 2-hour sessions between mentors and a group
of authors during the week of August 23-27, 2021.
The workshop aims to propel research on the various ways in which
digital technology impacts innovation, transformation and
entrepreneurship. To do so, the workshop brings together leading faculty
from the areas of digital innovation, digital transformation, and
digital entrepreneurship. The workshop is intended primarily as a venue
for early career researchers (late-stage Ph.D. students, Post Docs, new
faculty) to develop their ongoing work in a friendly and collegial
environment but it also welcomes established and senior scholars working
on the topic.
Confirmed faculty include Marleen Huysman (Vrije Universiteit
Amsterdam), Magnus Mähring (Stockholm School of Economics), Robert
Gregory (University of Virginia), Alexander Benlian (TU Darmstadt), and
Likoebe Maruping (Georgia State University).
The workshop will be free of charge. Selection of papers will be based
on an extended abstract of up to 3000 words. The deadline for submission
of abstracts is June 11, 2021. Full papers for accepted abstracts will
be required by July 9, 2021.
The workshop neither requires copyright transfer nor publishes
proceedings (meaning, manuscripts prepared for conferences such as ICIS,
HICSS, AMCIS, AoM can be submitted to the workshop for further
development). Questions and submissions should be sent to
sigditepdw(a)gmail.com<mailto:sigditepdw@gmail.com>.
