CALL FOR PAPERS SPECIAL ISSUE - www.aris-journal.com
Artificial Intelligence in CyberSecurity
Dear Colleague,
The ARIS2 cordially invites you to submit your scientific work to this
Special Issue of Artificial Intelligence in CyberSecurity, to be
published on September 28 of 2022.
Cyberspace has completely revolutionized our ways of life prompting
important progress in science and technology. However, the advantages of
cyberspace are now threatened by the systemic risk of proliferation of
offensive cyber-tools and cyber-operations.
Cybersecurity is the practice of securing networks, systems, and any
other digital infrastructure from malicious attacks. Traditional
cybersecurity relies on the static control of security cyberspace
monitoring according to the pre-specified rules. However, this passive
defense methodology is no longer useful in protecting cyberspace against
new cybersecurity threats.
The focus of this special issue is on exploring how AI today impacts
cybersecurity, for better and for worse, as well as the opportunities
and challenges that result. We are interested in both research and
practice focusing on how attackers can use AI to augment the attack kill
chain, as well as how defenders are evolving AI-based cybersecurity to
respond to the challenge. More research-oriented contributions may
explore novel attacks or defenses, whereas more practical contributions
may review the threat landscape or develop tools/datasets to support
research in this space.
Topics of interest for this special issue include, but are not limited to:
* Adversarial machine learning and the robustness of AI models against
malicious actions
* AI approaches to trust and reputation
* AI and blockchain for cybersecurity and privacy
* AI for cryptography
* AI for cyber investigation and threat intelligence
* AI for cybersecurity management in cyber-physical systems
* AI for intrusion detection and prevention
* AI for malware identification and analysis
* AI for phishing detection and prevention
* AI for spam detection
* AI for GDPR compliance

Call for Book Chapters "Development Methodologies for Big Data Analytics
Systems – plan-driven, agile, hybrid, lightweight approaches"
Springer Nature - Book Series: Transactions on Computational Science &
Computational Intelligence Series Editor: Prof. Hamid R. Arabnia
https://www.springer.com/series/11769
Chapter proposal (400-500 words) period: May 31, 2022 – July 31, 2022
Full chapter submission deadline: August 31, 2022
Why?
* BDA systems have been mainly developed and used for large business
organizations due to the nature of the implicated human, technological,
organizational, and data resources required for such developments
(Maroufkhani et al., 2020; Davenport & Bean, 2022). Additionally, it has
been recently identified that the systematic development of BDA systems
has not been usually pursued by organizations, and despite the
adaptation of a few comprehensive development methodologies for Data
Analytics systems (Martinez et al; 2021) such as CRISP-DM, SEMMA, and
KDD, many failed BDA system development projects are frequent (Davenport
& Malone, 2021). From a Systems and Software Engineering perspective,
the utilization of software processes and development methodologies –
plan-driven, agile, hybrid, and lightweight types – are necessary to fit
the expected "Iron Triangle" metrics of schedule, budget, and quality
(Humphrey, 2005; Agarwal & Rathod, 2006; Humphrey et al., 2007). Hence,
initial top research has realized the need to incorporate software and
systems engineering development methods for comply the business
expectations of BDA systems (Martinez-Plumed et al., 2019; Haakman et
al., 2021; Davenport & Malone, 2021).

Call for Track Proposals
dg.o 2023: 24th Annual International Conference on Digital Government
Research
Building safe and secure cross-border public services
University of Tartu, Tartu, Estonia
https://dgsociety.org/dgo-2023/https://eceps.ut.ee/research/dgo2023
The Digital Government Society (DGS) announces the 24th Annual
International Conference on Digital Government Research - dg.o 2023 on
"Building safe and secure cross-border public services". dg.o 2023 will
be hosted by the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies, University
of Tartu, Estonia, on June 18 -22, 2023. The dg.o conferences are an
established forum for presentation, discussion, and demonstration of
interdisciplinary research on digital government, civic engagement,
technology innovation, applications, and practice. Each year the
conference brings together scholars recognized for the interdisciplinary
and innovative nature of their work, their contributions to theory and
practice, their focus on important and timely topics and the quality of
their writing.
THEMES & TOPICS:
The 24th Annual International Conference on Digital Government Research
(dg.o 2023) will feature the main theme of "Building safe and secure
cross-border public services". As the European Parliament and Council
adopted the regulation establishing a single digital gateway on 11
December 2018, it set Europe on a very clear path of digital
transformation, planned to be fully implemented by the end of 2023. This
transformative change will greatly enhance the development of
cross-border services as by then all national online procedures will
have to be made fully accessible to cross-border users. In addition, the
‘once-only principle’ will be applied to cross-border exchanges of
evidence for a range of procedures. All of this cannot be achieved and
developed further without extensive collaboration between private and
public sectors. Society and technology co-evolves and we are looking for
new balance between them. Specifically, the conference aims to advance
research and practice in this field.
During the past twenty-three years, the dg.o conferences have been at
the forefront of digital governance transformations. In its 24th
anniversary, the dg.o 2023 conference will build in past themes to
advance our knowledge about the creation of public values via digital
innovations with particular focus on cross-border digital public
services. Next to the track pioneered at dgo 2022, other established
tracks featured at past dg.o conferences, such as:
* Public value creation and innovation
* Social media and government
* Organizational factors, technology adoption, and digital
government impacts
* Opening government: from open data infrastructures to collaboration
* Engagement in government
* Smart cities: models and platforms
* Cybersecurity and governance
* Beyond bureaucracy, co-producing governance & new models of
governance
* Open government data policies & politics
* Blockchain and transformational government
We encourage past track chairs to update and submit their track. In
addition, we invite new tracks to address existing and emerging research
challenges related to digital government. Tracks should be related to
digital government, but do not have to be limited to the conference
theme. The highly successful track proposals will be selected, based on
the reputation of the track chairs in the proposed field, successful
track performance in the past, novelty, coherence of the topics covered
in alignment with the digital government themes that are of interest to
the research and practitioner communities.

Call for Papers
Over the past decades, a multitude of security and privacy enhancing
technologies has been developed and brought to considerable maturity.
However, the design and engineering of such technologies often ignores
the organizational context that respective technologies are to be
applied in. A large and hierarchical organization, for example, calls
for significantly different security and privacy practices and
respective technologies than an agile, small startup. Similarly,
whenever employees’ behavior plays a significant role for the ultimate
level of security and privacy provided, their individual skills,
interests and incentives as well as typical behavioral patterns must be
taken into account and materialized in concrete technical solutions and
practices. Even though research on security- and privacy-related
technologies increasingly considers questions of practical applicability
in realistic scenarios, implementation decisions are still mostly
technology-driven, and existing technical limitations and notions of
“this is how we’ve always done it” hamper both innovation and
application in practice.
On the other hand, a substantial body of organization-related security
and privacy research already exists, incorporating aspects like
decision-making and governance structures, individual interests and
incentives of employees, behavioral aspects, organizational roles and
procedures, organizational as well as national culture, or business
models and organizational goals. However, there is still a large gap
between the generation of respective insights and their actual
incorporation in concrete technical mechanisms, frameworks, and systems.
This disconnection between rather technical and rather
organization-related security and privacy research leaves substantial
room for improving the fit between organizational practices on the one
hand and the engineering of concrete technologies on the other hand.
Achieving a better fit between these two sides through security and
privacy technologies that soundly incorporate organizational and
behavioral theories and practices promises substantial benefits for
organizations and data subjects, engineers, policy makers, and society
as a whole.
The aim of this workshop is therefore to discuss, exchange, and develop
ideas and questions regarding the design and engineering of technical
security and privacy mechanisms with particular reference to
organizational contexts. We invite papers from researchers and
practitioners working in security- and privacy-related systems
engineering as well as in the field of organizational science to submit
their original papers to this workshop. Topics of interest include, but
are not limited to:
* Security and privacy technologies consciously addressing different
organizational structures
* Security and privacy technologies and individual behavior in organizations
* Security and privacy technologies for and in organizational / national
cultures
* Security and privacy technologies for and in unusual organizational
settings
* Engineering-focused methods, frameworks, and assessment approaches for
addressing the above subjects in novel ways
We particularly welcome papers explicitly translating findings and
insights from organizational and behavioral theory into the concrete
design and engineering of technical security and privacy mechanisms as
well as papers evaluating, assessing, or scrutinizing existing security
and privacy technologies against actual organizational and behavioral
theories and/or givens from the practice. Papers providing a clear
engineering contribution based on non-technical insights are especially
welcome and will be particularly recognized in the review process.
Papers without relation to concrete technologies are not excluded in
general. Authors of such papers are, however, explicitly encouraged to
sketch foreseen connections to and implications for the engineering domain.
Besides regular (max. 16 pages) and short (max. 8 pages) papers, we also
invite practical demonstrations, intermediate reports, and
mini-tutorials on respective technologies currently under development.
Such contributions should be consciously tailored to inspire more
in-depth discussions. Submissions falling under this category should
describe the proposed contribution to the workshop in no more than 4
pages and be explicitly marked as such during the submission process.
Authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their papers will be
presented at the conference.
Submission Guidelines & Types of Papers
Accepted papers are planned be published in a joint LNCS proceedings
together with further ESORICS workshops. Submissions must not
substantially duplicate work that any of the authors has published
elsewhere or has submitted in parallel to any other venue with formally
published proceedings.
Besides regular (max. 18 pages) and short (max. 8 pages) papers, we also
invite practical demonstrations, intermediate reports, and
