* ***TRACK DESCRIPTION and TOPICS of INTEREST****
The analysis and discovery of relations characterizing human learning, and
contextual factors that influence these relations have been one of the
contemporary and critical global challenges faced by researchers in a
number of areas, particularly in Education, Psychology, Sociology,
Information Systems, and Computing. These relations typically focus on
learners’ achievements and the overall learning experience, and the
effectiveness of learning environments. Be it the assessment mark
distribution in a classroom context or the mined patterns of best practices
in an apprenticeship context, analysis and discovery have always addressed
the elusive causal question about the need to best serve learners’ learning
efficiency, learning effectiveness, as well as the overall quality of the
learning experience, and the need to make informed choices on improving
learning environments.
Significant advances have been made in a number of areas from educational
psychology to artificial intelligence in education, which explored factors
contributing to learners’ proactive role in the learning process and
instructional effectiveness. With the advent of new technologies such as
eye-tracking, activity monitoring, video analysis, computer vision, content
analysis, sentiment analysis, immersive worlds, social network analysis and
interaction analysis, new possibilities arise to study these factors in
data-intensive contexts. This very notion is what is currently being
explored at the intersection of big data and learning analytics, which
includes related areas such as learning process analytics, institutional
effectiveness, academic analytics, text/web analytics and information
visualization.
BDELA explores monitoring of learner progress and tracing of skill
development of individual learners as well as learning groups, both within
and across programs and institutions. It will discuss issues concerning
evaluation of achievements resulting from institutional educational
practices to gauge alignment with strategic plans at different levels. It
will examine assessment frameworks of academic productivity to measure
impact of teaching. It will discuss concerns such as quality of
instruction, attrition, and measurement of curricular outcomes using big
data and associated methods and techniques as the premise.
Topics include but are not limited to:
- Big data theory, science and technology for education and learning
- security, privacy, inclusivity, fairness and ethics of big data
analytics
- veracity in big data
- scalability of machine learning and data mining algorithms for big
data
- big data infrastructure for academic institutions and education
companies – cloud, grid, autonomic, stream, mobile, high performance

AMCIS 2022 CFP - Mini-track: Dark Side of Virtual Collaborative
Environments: Fake News, Rumors, and Other Unintended Consequences.
Minneapolis August 10-14, 2022
Mini-track: Dark Side of Virtual Collaborative Environments: Fake News,
Rumors, and Other Unintended Consequences.
Track: Virtual Collaborative Environments
Virtual communities enabled by social media are providing new
opportunities for people to engage with each other. Recently, such
engagements have been exploited to spread fake news, rumors, biased
reporting, or for promoting unsupported viewpoints. Such interactions
have the potential to significantly influence the discourse of social,
political, moral, or economic debate. It cannot be denied that virtual
communities hold a lot of potential for beneficial and positive
engagement among the community members but there is a need to examine
some of these unintended consequences prevalent in virtual communities.
The objective of this mini-track is to provide a forum for discussion
and presentation of original research highlighting some of these
unintended consequences and subsequent challenges/or solutions to deal
with them. We seek papers that address nature of unintended consequence
of engagements in virtual communities from a theoretical, conceptual, or
empirical perspective. Both quantitative and qualitative studies are welcome
Mini-track topics are therefore focused on but not limited to the
following list.
* Cyberbullying, cyber-aggression, and unwanted contact
* Harassment, intimidation and stalking
* Damaged reputation due to rumors or gossips
* Online deception
* Sex and violence
* Inadvertent disclosure of private information
* Changes to relationships between public and private sphere
* Suppression of alternate viewpoints

AMCIS 2022: Minneapolis, August 10-14, 2022
MINI-TRACK: "Sourcing Through the Crowd": Issues in Platform-enabled
Work (SIG Sourcing)
Deadline: March 1st, 2022
*Description*
Increasing digitization and digitalization has given rise to new
sourcing models that leverage digital platforms to engage the “crowd.”
Today anyone in the world with basic knowledge or resources has work
opportunities afforded by digital platforms which link buyers and
sponsors with a crowd or community.
IS researchers have responded to these developments by investigating new
business models that rely on crowd involvement and are mediated by
digital platforms – e.g., business models associated with gig economy
(Wiener et al 2021). This focus on crowdsourcing and digital platforms
(e.g., “online marketplaces” (Gefen and Carmel, 2008), “crowdwork
platforms” and “microsourcing platforms” (Guo et al. 2021)) is closely
related to the larger phenomenon of IS sourcing (Nevo and Kotlarsky, 2020).
This mini-track investigates the potential of crowdsourcing, the
gig-economy, sharing-economy, and platform-economy for economic benefit
and social inclusion.
*Potential Topics*
Topics of research include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Better crowdsourcing methods and models
* Human and community factors
* Crowdsourcing markets and economic models
* Collaboration among and between individuals of the crowd
* Labor and work organization within virtual crowdsourcing communities
* Social and political impact case studies
* Impact sourcing through crowdsourcing (benefits for marginalized
populations)
* Platform policies and practices for social benefit
* Standards for Decent Work (UN Sustainable Development Goal)
* Government policies and practices
* Multi-sourcing in a crowd-work and sharing-economy context
* Challenges and opportunities of crowd-work in middle and low-income
countries
* Incorporating crowd-work into business processes
Submission Types
* Full papers must not exceed 10 pages (approx. 5,000 words)
* Emergent Research Forum (ERF) papers must not exceed 5 pages
(approx. 2,500 words)

MINI-TRACK: Emerging Issues in Information Security and Privacy (SIG Sec)
Deadline: March 1st, 2022
*Description*
The Internet was once considered separate from the world of reality.
Now, organizations are leveraging the vast resources that are available
through the Internet, mobile apps and other technologies to find and
stay connected to customers.
Concurrent with the marriage between the cyberspace and the
brick-and-mortar world, telephony and information technologies are
converging. The advent of smartphones means that a single device can
make calls, send emails, browse the web, review documents, and even pay
the tab at a Starbucks. This has resulted in a greater need for access
to personal information databases, which has made data protection and
privacy issues to take the center stage. Holding personal information

failed to address information systems security, assurance, and privacy
issues.
This mini-track will address current and emerging, issues and trends, in
information systems security, assurance, and privacy.

* Outsourcing and the gig economy's impact on security and privacy
* Security and privacy issues of using customer tracking for customizing
advertisements
* Information security and privacy concerns pertaining to use of GPS or
location-based services commonly found in smartphones
* Security and privacy of mobile payments and the Fintech industry
* Security and privacy challenges and opportunities of working from home
* Emerging trends and practices in information security governance, risk
management, and compliance
