MINI-TRACK: Emerging Issues in Information Security and Privacy (SIG Sec)
Deadline: March 1st, 2022
*Description*
The Internet was once considered separate from the world of reality.
Now, organizations are leveraging the vast resources that are available
through the Internet, mobile apps and other technologies to find and
stay connected to customers.
Concurrent with the marriage between the cyberspace and the
brick-and-mortar world, telephony and information technologies are
converging. The advent of smartphones means that a single device can
make calls, send emails, browse the web, review documents, and even pay
the tab at a Starbucks. This has resulted in a greater need for access
to personal information databases, which has made data protection and
privacy issues to take the center stage. Holding personal information
without adequate safeguards may lead to a disaster. This can be
compounded by the ever-expanding mobile ecosystem. Incidents have shown
that organizations lose goodwill, to the point of bankruptcy, for having
failed to address information systems security, assurance, and privacy
issues.
This mini-track will address current and emerging, issues and trends, in
information systems security, assurance, and privacy.
*Potential topics*
Authors are encouraged to submit original research that pertains to but
is not limited to the following areas:
* Records retention and destruction issues
* Security and privacy policies
* Cybercrime and its impact on the security technologies in the public
and private sectors
* Recent advances in core security control technologies such as
authentication (including biometrics), authorization (access control)
and audit
* Outsourcing and the gig economy's impact on security and privacy
* Security and privacy issues of using customer tracking for customizing
advertisements
* Information security and privacy concerns pertaining to use of GPS or
location-based services commonly found in smartphones
* Security and privacy of mobile payments and the Fintech industry
* Security and privacy challenges and opportunities of working from home
* Emerging trends and practices in information security governance, risk
management, and compliance
Full papers must not exceed 10 pages (approx. 5,000 words)
Emergent Research Forum (ERF) papers must not exceed 5 pages (approx.
2,500 words)
All submissions must conform to the AMCIS 2022 submission template and
will be peer-reviewed using a double-blind system.
*Important Dates*
January 21, 2022 Manuscript submission begins at
https://new.precisionconference.com/user/login
March 1, 2022 PCS closes for full papers and ERFs at 5pm Eastern time
March 25, 2022 Paper reviews are due

*Minitrack: Cloud Computing and Sustainability*
Green IS (SIGGREEN)
AMCIS 2022 (https://amcis2022.aisconferences.org/)
Minneapolis, Minnesota, August 10-14, 2022
*Call for Papers *
Cloud computing—providing IT services (both infrastructure/hardware and
software) on demand over a network—has been widely adopted by businesses
across industries due to such benefits as flexibility, scalability,
always-on availability, and pay-as-you-go pricing. The widespread adoption
of cloud computing over the past decade has sparked debates on its
environmental impacts among practitioners and academics alike. From the
perspective of sustainability, cloud computing is differentiated from
traditional IT investments and IT outsourcing in that it has transformed
the way IT resources (both infrastructure/hardware and software) are
procured, thereby altering IT’s implications for sustainability and energy
consumption not only for cloud service providers (vendors), but for service
users, which calls for research from novel perspectives.
On one hand, cloud services may come at a significant cost to the
environment, as data centers consume a massive amount of energy for
supporting cloud services. On the other hand, cloud computing can allow
business organizations to optimize IT resource utilization by replacing
internal IT infrastructure with cloud-based IT services accessible on
demand over a network, potentially enhancing energy efficiency. Moreover,
on-demand cloud services can provide low-cost access to scalable,
high-powered software running on the cloud that confers sustainability
benefits, which could not be achieved through in-house development or
traditional software licensing. Cloud-based services (e.g., cloud-based
collaboration tools) also help organizations build climate resilience for
adapting to climate change, in a similar way that it has played a role in
coping with COVID-19.
This mini-track provides a forum for presenting and discussing original
research highlighting the opportunities and challenges toward
sustainability related to designing, deploying, and using cloud computing
from the IS perspective. In particular, we encourage submissions that
address broad topics of Green IT and Green IS from the perspectives of not
only cloud service vendors (e.g., data centers), but also cloud service
users and other stakeholders (across various levels including individuals,
organizations, and nations). This mini-track welcomes empirical
(qualitative and quantitative) studies as well as design-oriented research
and conceptual/theoretical papers that leverage the multiple perspectives
of IS toward sustainability in the era of cloud computing.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Adoption and diffusion of cloud computing by organizations and
individuals to address sustainability concerns
· Sustainability implications of in-house and outsourced IT
· Use of cloud computing to support sustainable business processes
· Performance implications of cloud computing and sustainability
· Development of cloud-based services and systems for
sustainability
· Energy-efficient data centers
· Cloud-based environmental/energy management systems
· Application of cloud computing to climate change adaptation
· Application of cloud computing for sustainability in different
sectors, such as smart grids, transportation, agriculture, smart
manufacturing, smart cities, and others
· Public policy related to cloud computing with implications for
sustainability
· Global and cross-border issues in cloud computing and
sustainability
*Important Dates:*
· January 15, 2022: Submission Open at PCS (
https://new.precisionconference.com/submissions)
· March 1, 2022: Submission Deadline
· April 15, 2022: Acceptance Notification
· April 25, 2022: Revised, Camera-Ready Paper Deadline

**** SUBMISSION GUIDELINES ****
Authors are invited to electronically submit original research
contributions or experience reports in English. DEXA will accept
submissions of both short (up to 6 pages) and full papers (up to 12
pages). The submitted manuscript should closely reflect the final paper
as it will appear in the Proceedings. DEXA reserves the right to accept
papers only as short papers, in which papers describe interesting and
innovative ideas which still require further technical development.
Any submission that significantly exceeds length limits or deviates from
formatting requirements may be rejected without review.
Formatting guidelines: http://www.dexa.org/formatting_guidelines
Online Papers Submission: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dexa2022
**** REVIEW PROCESS ****
Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality,
significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition.
Duplicate submissions are not allowed and will be rejected immediately
without further review. Authors are expected to agree to the following
terms: "I understand that the submission must not overlap substantially
with any other paper that I am a co-author of or that is currently
submitted elsewhere. Furthermore, previously published papers with any
overlap are cited prominently in this submission."
Questions about this policy or how it applies to a specific paper should
be directed to the PC Co-chairs.
**** ACCEPTED PAPERS ****
All accepted conference papers will be published in a volume of "Lecture
Notes in Computer Science" (LNCS) by Springer Verlag. Authors of all
accepted papers must sign a Springer copyright release form. Papers are
accepted with the understanding that at least one author will register
for the conference to present the paper. Authors of selected papers
presented at the conference will be invited to submit extended versions
of their papers for publication in the Springer journal Transactions of
Large Scale Data and Knowledge Centered Systems (TLDKS). The submitted
extended versions will undergo a further review process.

Subject: [AISWorld] Call for Papers: AMCIS 2022 Minitrack: Artificial
Intelligence for Sustainability
Date: Sun, 30 Jan 2022 15:52:43 +0000
From: Jacqueline Corbett <Jacqueline.Corbett(a)fsa.ulaval.ca>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
We are currently accepting submissions for the AMCIS 2022 SIGGreen
minitrack on "Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability."
Environmental sustainability, widely recognized as a wicked problem, has
become a global priority. The challenge of sustainability is
multi-dimensional, involves multiple natural and human systems engaged
in complex interactions, and requires trade-offs between conflicting
values of multiple stakeholders. Slowing the pace of climate change,
mitigating adverse impacts, and adapting to new planetary conditions
will depend on robust artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
Machine-based intelligence can help organizations tackle the complex
issues of sustainability by transcending the limitations of conventional
computing and human intelligence and opening up new possibilities for
innovation. This minitrack adopts a socio-technical-ecological
perspective to explore how AI can be used to support environmental
sustainability and respond to the challenges of climate change. Research
of all types is invited, from conceptual work that develops theories
around AI to empirical investigations of the interplay between AI and
sustainability-related phenomenon and design work that develops new
solutions and approaches.
Short (ERF) and completed research papers will be accepted in the AMCIS
paper submission system until March 1, 2022. For more details see:
