Text Analytics Minitrack
HICSS-55
4-7 January 2022 - Hyatt Regency, Maui, Hawaii
Global collaboration and information systems of all types generate
enormous amounts of unstructured textual data. This data includes system
logs, email archives, websites, blog posts, meeting transcripts,
speeches, annual reports, published material, social media posts, and
much more. While this data is readily available, it presents tremendous
challenges to researchers trying to analyze these large bodies of text
with traditional methods. Text analytics is an increasingly important
technique for an interdisciplinary group of scholars, practitioners,
government officials, and international organizations. This minitrack
provides an interactive forum for researchers to discuss critical issues
of text mining and contributes to the focus on big data at HICSS. Our
minitrack welcomes papers that take both theoretical and applied
approaches, and papers that apply text mining approaches to a wide
variety of substantive domains.

CALL FOR PAPERS
HICSS 2022 Minitrack: Software Development for Mobile Devices, the
Internet-of-Things, and Cyber-Physical Systems
(Software Technology Track)
https://hicss.hawaii.edu/tracks-55/software-technology/
4-7 January 2022
Hyatt Regency, Maui
https://hicss.hawaii.edu/
MINITRACK DESCRIPTION
Applications for mobile devices (apps) have facilitated the success of
smartphones and tablets. By using apps, the multi-purpose hardware of
modern devices can be utilized to the full extent. Despite much progress
in development methods, software development kits, and frameworks, app
development poses many challenges. This is even more so for novel mobile
devices such as wearables and for the hardware that constitutes the
Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS).
Compatibility, performance, battery-saving, and security and safety are
only some of the issues that are mainly driven by the quality of the
used software. A satisfying level of this quality in many cases is very
hard to achieve and proper techniques for testing and formal
verification are needed.
Experiences and methods from classical software development can only be
utilized to some degree. Moreover, the inherent challenges of the
respective new devices ask for novel solutions. The challenges sketched
above are reinforced by the conditions that development activities meet.
Typical particularities include the need for multi-platform development,
device fragmentation, context-sensitivity, low computational power,
little memory, energy conservation requirements, and the heterogeneity
of users. With the emergence of multi-platform and multi-device, the new
golden standard are applications not only across software ecosystems,
but across hardware platforms such as laptop, mobile, tablets, embedded
devices, sensors and wearables. Therefore, new threads of research are
needed to tackle these issues and to pave the way for improved software
development, better business producibility and improved user experience
(UX).
This minitrack started as Mobile App Development (HICSS-49 and HICSS-50)
before broadening to Software Development for Mobile Devices, Wearables,
and the Internet-of-Things (HICSS-51 and HICSS-52). In its fifth and
sixth year (HICSS-53 and HICSS-54), we adapted it to the continuously
changing landscape to keep it attractive to the community. Our minitrack
invites researchers from software engineering, human-computer
interaction, information systems, computer science, electrical
engineering, and any other discipline that contributes to the topics
covered by our minitrack.
The minitrack is devoted to the technological background of mobile
computing while keeping an eye on business value, user experience, and
domain-specific issues. Contributions may take a sociotechnical view or
report on technological progress. Topics of interests include the full
spectrum of research on mobile devices, IoT, and CPS, for example (but
are not limited to)
• Case studies of development
• Development methods and specification techniques
• Economic and social impact
• Software engineering education
• User interface (UI) design and user experience (UX) research
• Testing, simulation, and formal verification
• Hybrid and cross-platform development, Progressive Web Apps (PWA)
• Web technology
• Security, safety, and privacy
• Legal aspects of software
• Energy-efficient computing
• Sensor-usage

Subject: [AISWorld] HICSS Call for Papers: Minitrack on Knowledge
Flows, Transfer, Sharing and Exchange
Date: Fri, 9 Apr 2021 16:18:41 +0000
From: Nissen, Mark (CIV) <MNissen(a)nps.edu>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
This minitrack examines the nature and role of knowledge flows across
people, organizations, places and times from technical, managerial,
behavioral, organizational, and economic perspectives. As the nature of
knowledge flows changes due to digitalization, consumerization of
information technology (IT), and the integration of artificial agents
into daily routines, it is increasingly important to understand the
changes required in how knowledge workers conduct work, share knowledge
and information, and learn. Knowledge management (KM) activities in
organizations are no longer supported only by traditional information
and communications technologies (ICTs; e.g., databases, data warehouses,
information repositories, websites, email streams), but are also enabled
through new forms of ICTs including artificial intelligence (AI; e.g.,
agents, bots, learning algorithms), social software or Web 2.0
technologies and Internet of Things (IoT). The ubiquitous and pervasive
nature of these new fo
rms of ICTs are creating flexible KM sharing environments that need to
be researched more systematically.
This minitrack focuses on examining the nature and role of knowledge
flows (e.g., knowledge exchange, transfer and sharing) across people,
communities, networks and organizations, as well as across both space
and time. Technical, managerial, behavioral, organizational and economic
perspectives on knowledge flows will be accepted and presented in this
minitrack, and both qualitative and quantitative research methods are
welcome. Potential topics that this minitrack will address include:
* Technical, managerial, behavioral, organizational and economic
challenges and perspectives on knowledge flows
* The effects on knowledge flows of the consumerization of IT (CoIT);
Internet of things (IoT); social media, social computing, social
networks and communities, communities of practice (CoPs); information
and computer technologies (ICTs); knowledge reuse; organization and
economic incentive structures; artificial intelligence (AI), machine
learning and robotics; neuroscience, brain-computer interfaces,
artificial humans and other computer-based entities
* Knowledge system analysis, design, test, evaluation, implementation,
maintenance and redesign
* Harnessing, analyzing, visualizing and measuring knowledge flows for
creativity, innovation, competitive advantage
Manuscripts are due 15 June 2021. They must be submitted through the
HICSS website and conform to all length and fomatting requirements.
Experience suggests that accepted manuscripts will reflect high quality
and originality, but the minitrack also encourages authors to explore
new ideas and to gain constructive comments and suggestions through the
conference sessions.

*Call for Papers*
*The IJCAI-21 workshop on Deep Learning, Case-Based Reasoning, and
AutoML: Present and Future Synergies*
To be held as a half day workshop. Date TBD during the International
Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ijcai-21.org
<http://ijcai-21.org>),21-26 August, 2021.Location:Online.
Deep learning (DL) research has made dramatic progress in recent years,
achieving high performance on supervised learning tasks for numerous
problem domains. Simultaneously, there remain well-known challenges
such as the need for large amounts of labeled training data, solving
synthesis problems with structured solutions (e.g., designs, plans, or
schedules), and explainability. Case-based reasoning is a
knowledge-based methodology for reasoning from prior episodes, with
complementary capabilities—such as to solve problems with small data
sets or those requiring structured solutions, and to generate concrete
explanations—and limitations. AutoML concerns processes for
automatically generating end-to-end-machine learning (e.g., DL)
pipelines, and could use techniques that build pipelines from prior
cases (of successful pipeline components). This workshop will bring
together researchers interested in DL, CBR, and AutoML to identify new
opportunities and beneficial strategies for integrating these approaches
to address current challenges.
Our goal for this workshop is to bring together members of the DL, CBR,
and AutoML communities to identify new opportunities for leveraging the
case-based reasoning methodology to advance deep learning and DL to
advance CBR, to identify opportunities and challenges for leveraging CBR
for AutoML, to examine related efforts from all three subareas, and to
develop approaches for advancing such integrations. The workshop will
include a substantial discussion component.
Potential subtopics include, but are not limited to:
* New theoretical approaches for integrating CBR and DL
* Approaches for using CBR to guide selection of problem-appropriate
DL architectures and to guide composition of DL architectures
* Using the case-based cycle as a framework for combining DL
components or integrating them with other technologies
* Adding solution adaptation processes to deep learning
* CBL-DL integrations for:
o Few-shot learning
o Generating structured solutions
o Reducing the sizes of trained networks
* Developing a CBR-inspired DL pipeline
* CBR support for AutoML
* Presentation of results on existing integrations
* Discussion on challenge problems from DL, CBR, or AutoML

Subject: [AISWorld] Special Issue on Cybersecurity Incident Response in
Organizations - Computers & Security
Date: Fri, 9 Apr 2021 03:43:47 +0000
From: Sean Maynard <sean.maynard(a)unimelb.edu.au>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
FINAL Call for Papers - Computers & Security
Special Issue: Cybersecurity Incident Response in Organizations
Guest Editors: Atif Ahmad, University of Melbourne, Australia; Sean
Maynard, University of Melbourne, Australia; Richard Baskerville,
Georgia State University, USA
Link to Special Issue Page: https://bit.ly/3mgd5Ue
Research Focus:
The evolving cyber-threat landscape has given rise to new and
increasingly potent attacks against organizations. Human attackers use
sophisticated tools and techniques to disrupt and destroy cyber
infrastructures, deny organizations access to IT services, and steal
sensitive information including Intellectual Property, trade secrets and
customer data.
Incident response takes place under considerable time pressure in a
dynamic and rapidly changing environment with high levels of information
load, information diversity and task uncertainty. Effective response
requires command, control and coordination of diverse teams of
organizational stakeholders as they develop situation awareness, adapt
to the rapidly evolving situation, raise the necessary resources, and
respond to threats.
The practice of incident response is a relatively under-studied area of
research. The purpose of this special issue is to collect and
disseminate the latest advances in this area for a broad audience. We
seek submissions that study the real-world problem of incident response
and contribute sound practical advice to industry. Papers could employ
qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods and design science techniques.
Exploratory case studies and action research are welcome.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
* In-depth and revelatory case studies of incident response practice in
organizations
* Maturity models of incident response
* Novel conceptualizations of the practice of incident response (e.g.
response agility, communication and coordination, organizational
learning, knowledge sharing, sense-making, situation awareness, process
improvement)
* Management of the incident response function (e.g. strategy, policy,
risk, training)
* Adoption of novel technologies for incident response (e.g. data-fusion
and real-time analytics)
Submission Format
The submitted papers must be written in English and describe original
research which is not published nor currently under review by other
