Track N°11: Digitization of Education,
Private Industries, and Society
ECIS 2022, The 30th European Conference on Information Systems
New Horizons in Digitally United Societies
June 16 - June 18, 2021, Timisoara, Romania
Call for Papers
1 Track Description
Recent developments in digital technology have reshaped almost all
aspects of our lives: our education, our work, and our social life.
Despite the benefits afforded by digital technologies, they often
produce challenges and barriers that the academic community cannot
ignore. This track concentrates not only on the opportunities that
digitization creates, but also on deciphering how the information
systems community can aid in tackling these challenges and barriers.
Moreover, the goal of this track is to raise awareness and generate
scholarly debate about the opportunities and challenges for fostering
digital inclusion in our increasingly interconnected world. Diversity,
equity, and inclusion are not only essential to achieve fairness in
society and assimilate communities, they also drive the proliferation of
skillsets fundamental to the realization of a truly digital society in
the foreseeable future. Although the role digital technology plays in
society has received attention in the past couple of years, research in
this area is still rather fragmented. We do not yet have a coherent body
of literature that theorizes about the consequences of digital
technology on individuals, communities, and the broader society.
This track closely aligns with the conference theme, Human Values Crisis
in a Digitizing World, in its aspiration for a more just society, in
which digital technologies constitute an integral component. This track
also considers topics touching on the intersections between age,
culture, disabilities, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status, and
how they relate to education, industries, and society in general.
We welcome submissions - either as full research papers or research in
progress - that analyse the equalizing role digital technologies play in
different aspects of contemporary life. Submissions could include theory
development, literature reviews, or practical teaching cases from
various research traditions, including qualitative, quantitative, mixed
methods, or design science.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Opportunities and challenges of digitizing of education, industries,
and society
· Equality, diversity, and inclusion in education, industries, and society
· Ethics of digitization of education, industries, and society
· Digital transformation and the future of work
· Digital and social inclusion in the digital era
· Online learning platforms for digital inclusion
· Digital inclusion of marginalized groups
· Inclusion/exclusion dichotomy of social media
· Political freedoms in the digital space
· Humane computing
· Policy and regulations for promoting inclusiveness
· Bridging diversity or inclusivity gap through digital technologies
2 Submission
In this track, we welcome submissions - either as full research or
research in progress.
Submission instructions and templates are to be found under the link
(https://ecis2022.eu/call-for-papers/).

Subject: [AISWorld] ICIS 2021 - Workshop on Sustainability and IS: The
Role of Location
Date: Tue, 2 Nov 2021 13:50:39 +0000

Workshop on Sustainability and IS: The Role of Location
(in-Person and Virtual)
Keynote: "Sustainability, Maritime Informatics, and Spatial-Temporal
Analytics"
Rick Watson, Ph.D, Regents Professor & J. Rex Fuqua Distinguished Chair
for Internet Strategy, Terry College of Business, University of Georgia,
Austin, Texas
Sunday, December 12, 2021, 8:00am-1:00pm
GIS can play a key role in improving sustainability by collecting and
managing data and analyzing these data integrated (or overlaid) with
other types of data, such as demographic data. For example, GIS can
improve supply chain logistics and transportation management by
identifying eco-routes and eco-efficient supply chains. GIS can also
serve as a common platform that integrates people, processes, things,
environments, and data about them and, thereby, generate insights for
sustainable development. Spatial data comprise much of the data that
organizations collect (so-called big data). Thus, we posit that
organizational adoption of sustainability strategies necessitates models
that incorporate location data regarding environmental processes and
impacts, location information about causes and effects, and knowledge
sharing about what works, what does not, why, and where. We also
postulate that sustainability requires organizations to build up a
common platform to collect, analyze, and
share geo-referenced data on the environment.
This workshop will include two parts: The first part will introduce two
presentations by the workshop organizers. One presentation is about
applying GIS to inform and model renewable energy development, and the
other is about the use of GIS for sustainable economic development, for
example, eradicating poverty and child labor. It will also include a
keynote talk by an academic/industry leader, which highlights the
opportunities and challenges for sustainability and how digital
innovation associated with GIS can have a positive impact on
sustainability. In the second part of the workshop, contributed papers
will be presented on a variety of topics, some related to emerging
opportunities and issues with regard to GIS and sustainability and
others in the broader realm of GIS applications in organizations and
government.

Special Issue on
Enterprise Architectures in the IoT Era
- Challenges, Solutions, and Recommendations -
https://www.springer.com/journal/10586/updates/19533562
Internet of Things (IoT), one of the fastest growing Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT), is impacting organizations from all
perspectives (e.g., operational, legal, financial, and competitiveness)
forcing them to review their functional and non-functional practices.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), ``IoT spending will
increase by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.6% from 2017 to
2022, reaching $1.2 trillion within the next four years. It is also
predicted 41 billion IoT devices by 2027 and 70% of automobiles will be
connected to the Internet by 2023.
To tap into the endless benefits and uses of IoT, the design principles and
foundations of organizations’ enterprise architectures are expected to
adjust to ensure a smooth integration of IoT into these architectures’
foundations namely organization, business, information, application, and
technology. Aiming at examining these foundations separately and then
collectively, this special issue will report about the latest advances and
developments in the dynamic field of enterprise architecture in the IoT
era. The special issue will cover issues like lack of techniques and
guidelines that would enable enterprises to integrate IoT into the life
cycle of designing, developing, and deploying enterprise architectures.
This integration should lead to a new generation of enterprise
architectures that would foster not only a deeper retrospect on the
involved interactive digital resources inside the life cycle covering data
collection, information analysis, knowledge reasoning and wisdom
strategies, but also a better understanding of potential threats as well as
the development of new ways of aligning business and ICT resources together
to improve the competitiveness of the enterprise in the background of the
Artificial Intelligence (AI) trend.
Whilst, on the one hand, IoT enacts many opportunities that enterprises
could tap into, there are also obstacles that could undermine these
opportunities, on the other hand. Some of these obstacles are lack of
standards that cover both enterprise architecture and IoT, security holes
that potentially exist in IoT devices making them questionable in terms of
trust, security, and privacy, IoT limitations like silo restriction,
computational capabilities, lack of semantic technologies that should
describe IoT in a machine-understandable manner, just to mention some.
Topics of Interest
Topics for discussions in this special issue include, but are not limited
to:
* Standards for IoT-based enterprise architecture.
* Enterprise architecture for Industry 4.0.
* Fog/Cloud collaboration in enterprise architecture (F2F, F2C, C2C)
* Data science for IoT-based enterprise architecture.
* Semantic technologies for IoT-based enterprise architecture.
* Agentification of IoT-based enterprise architecture.
* Interoperability inside and between IoT-based enterprise architecture.
* Guidelines and best practices for IoT-based enterprise architecture
* Privacy, trust, and security of IoT-based enterprise architecture.
* Context management and awareness for IoT-based enterprise architecture
* Case studies related to IoT-based enterprise architecture.
Submission guidelines
Submitted papers should present original, unpublished work, relevant to one
of the topics of the Special Issue and the journal theme. In case of
extended papers from conferences/workshops please make sure that your cover

Today, previously unimaginable varieties and volumes of data about
nearly all aspects of human actions are collected, aggregated, and
analyzed (Abbasi et al. 2016; George et al. 2014; Lycett 2013). These
data are valuable resources for multiple stakeholders to extract value
consistent with their interests and priorities, which may support or
conflict with other stakeholders’ interests (Gangadharan 2014; Winter
2014). Data resources are typically treated as proprietary assets of the
organizations (and IT platforms) that capture or otherwise acquire data
(Data Governance Institute, nd). However, if we consider data as
societal resources rather than (or in addition to) privately held
assets, then how data governance takes shape and whether governance
addresses diverse goals, priorities, and interests become important
research and policy questions (Rosenbaum, 2010; Winter and Davidson,
2017; Zuboff 2015).
/Data governance/is a broad concept that includes the processes and
institutional structures for managing data, and the policies and
practices for granting accessing to and authorizing acceptable uses of
data (Data Governance Institute, nd ; Rosenbaum, 2010). Information
technologies and systems not only generate the growing stockpiles of
digitized data but are also crucial elements in data governance policies
and practices (Legner et al., 2020; Markus and Bui, 2012).
Our goals in this special issue are to stimulate and advance academic
and practice-focused knowledge on data governance that addresses the
broad range of research questions associated with advancing digital
innovation and for meeting grand challenges.
/Data governance and digital innovation.**/There is immense potential
for digital innovation with emerging technologies such as AI, machine
learning, analytics, and IoT. These emerging technologies depend in
large part on large, accessible data resources, for instance in
AI/machine learning. Whether data collected in once context can be
effectively, fairly and ethically applied in other contexts raises data
governance and stewardship issues, such as whether a data set is
implicitly biased or whether individuals whose data are represented
consent to this reuse or not (Gangadharan2014; Janssen et al. 2013;
Winter 2014; Zuboff 2015). Equally important are questions about
facilitating access to and reuse of data for innovation. Addressing
such questions entail an array of policy, organizational, practice, and
technological approaches (George et al, 2014). *//*
/Data governance and grand challenges: /Grand challenges are critical
national or global problems, which might be solved though science,
technology and innovation but which require moving beyond existing
organizational, technological, and scientific approaches. There is
immense potential for data resources to be used to address grand
challenges such as uneven economic development, government transparency,
energy conservation, and advances in medical research and care, to name
just a few. How potentially relevant data are governed – by whom, for
what purposes, on whose behalf and through what sociotechnical actions
and structures – present imperative questions to business leaders,
policy makers, technologists, and researchers(Perkmann and Schildt,
2015; Susha et al, 2017).//
We seek submissions that address how the benefits, risks, and
consequences of today’s data-rich world can be understood and managed,
in part, through the lens of data governance, so thatdata resources
might be harnessed for innovation and societal good amidst many
competing value claims and substantial risks for privacy and security.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
·Cases / analyses of organizational forms and practices for governing
data in specific socio-economic contexts (healthcare, education, energy
use, commerce, sports, etc.) that contribute to social-theoretical
understanding of data governance.
·Administrative, organizational and technological practices that allow
anonymized personal data to be shared for research or policy, as well as
risks of re-identification. _Papers specifying algorithms are not
appropriate for this journal_, though organizational application of
technological solutions may be.
·Ethical and practical concerns for researchers or policy makers
repurposing data resources with businesses, technology firms, and other
researchers.
·Rationalities or logics that guide policy and decision-making about
data aggregation, stockpiling, monetizing, reuse within and across
organizational settings.
·Theory-informed studies of the implications of privacy and data use
regulations (e.g., GDPR, California data use law) on organizational
practices for data governance.
·Case studies of how “privacy by design” is implemented and the
implications for data governance.
·Data stewardship roles, responsibilities, processes or practices for
ensuring data resources have sufficient quality for intended uses, eg.
are accurate, complete and/or representative for intended uses.
·Opportunities, problems, or failures of data stewardship and
governance; unintended consequences of utilizing aggregated data beyond
the context where data originates.
·Cases / analyses of data governance challenges that inform policy and
regulatory innovation or reform related to data governance (in local,
national, or international jurisdictions).
·Studies that develop design theory about how to design data governance
structures and practices for addressing grand challenges.
Regular submission to /Information and Organization/, as well as
submissions to the Research Impact and Contributions to Knowledge (RICK)
section will be considered. Authors are encouraged to review the aims
and scope statement for the journal
(https://www.journals.elsevier.com/information-and-organization
<https://www.journals.elsevier.com/information-and-organization>) and
review abstracts of recent publications via the Science Direct link on
the website to better understand the journal’s focus and publication
genre. Regular submissions should have the potential for a substantive
contribution to theory that complements empirical results or case
studies reports. RICK submissions are briefer (5000 words) and address
the impact or translation of scholarly knowledge broadly. Authors

Subject: [AISWorld] Call for Mini-Track Proposals: AMCIS 2022
Information Security and Privacy Track
Date: Mon, 1 Nov 2021 13:56:40 +0000
From: Ogbanufe, Obi <obi.ogbanufe(a)unt.edu>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to submit your mini-track proposals for the Information
Security and Privacy track at AMCIS 2022.
AMCIS 2022 will take place in Minneapolis between the 10th and 14th of
August, 2022.
Cybersecurity remains a key challenge for organizations despite massive
investments over the last two decades. While technological advancements
have been made to improve cybersecurity, human vulnerabilities have
become the weakest link in security. High-profile events such as
defections, espionage, and massive data breaches have led the public to
question their own expectations of privacy. While there is an abundance
of practices and techniques for employing cybersecurity, many hard
problems remain unanswered.
The purpose of this track is to provide a forum for theoretical
developments, empirical research findings, case studies, methodologies,
artifacts, and other high-quality manuscripts. Sponsored by SIGSEC, we
seek to address important questions arising from emerging developments
in information security, such as: security analytics, financial crimes,
security analytics, and digital forensics? How do system defenders share
information to mitigate vulnerabilities and exploits? Does pervasive
data collection deter privacy-conscious individuals? Do regulations and
policies influence employee security behaviors and organizational
security postures?
Mini-track proposals are due by November 30, 2021. They will be
submitted through the PCS system:

British Journal of Educational Technology: Call for Papers
Title of special section: Learning Analytics and Assessment
This special issue seeks to promote research and practice that looks at
the intersection of learning analytics and assessment. We invite
submissions that report on analytic approaches that are well-aligned to
educational assessment research and that improve reliability and
validity of data collection and analysis in learning analytics. The
submissions will also look into the ways how learning analytics can
contribute to the future developments in assessment for both summative
and formative purposes, uses of learning analytics to promote fair,
sustainable, and developmental assessment, and examine practices for the
use of learning analytics to assure assessment trustworthiness with the
particular attention to the socio-technical nature of potential challenges.
We welcome empirical, conceptual and theoretical papers that report on
research spanning the fields of learning analytics and assessment. The
papers should include at least one of the following topics:
1. Role of learning analytic approaches to formative and summative
assessment
2. Crossovers of practices in assessment validity and reliability with
learning analytics
3. Fairness and sustainability in assessment with learning analytics
4. Learning analytic approaches for trustworthiness of assessment
5. Developmental assessment and learning analytics
6. Trace-based assessment to support learning processes and outcomes
7. New theoretical frameworks that describe theoretical constructs (and
their relationships) in learning analytics and assessment
8. Juxtaposing of learning analytics and high-stakes/standardized testing
9. Critical perspectives on the role of learning analytics in assessment
