CALL FOR TECHNICAL PAPERS
===========================
The increasing proliferation of Information and communication
technologies (ICT) in our lives, has facilitated the connectivity
growth between distinct parts of our world. Various types of data are
continuously streaming across many boundaries in the world with
different models, policies, and purposes. Additionally, this data is
usually analyzed or stored on edge or gateways devices which have
highly limited capabilities and are vulnerable to sophisticated
attacks. With the growth of connectivity between various heterogeneous
systems, numerous attack vectors are constantly evolving, that can
potentially be exploited for malicious or criminal purposes (e.g. data
breaches, identity theft, and stealing of intellectual property and
trade secrets, etc.). Recent cyberattacks dangerously aim a broad
array of computing systems varying from data centers and personal
machines to mobile devices and industrial control systems.
There is a growing need for new methodologies, tools, and techniques,
capable of extracting, preserving, and analyzing different evidence
trails in various networked services and devices such as routers,
firewalls, web proxies, and network monitoring tools. Additionally,
there is also a growing need for research in new systems that are
capable of analyzing network traffic, netflows, and systems logs.
Satisfying these demands will aid in reconstructing the timeline of
the cyber-crime/attack under investigation and, possibly, the
identification of the potential actor(s).
The evolution of networked technologies, such as the internet of
things and cyber-physical systems, possess challenges based on the
highly limited capabilities of their infrastructure devices and the
type of data that can be processed by these devices. Complicated
efforts are required in suitable and timely manners against any
detected threats. Moreover, new frameworks are required to collect and
preserve potential evidential data in suitable and timely manners as
well. To guarantee proper cyber-defenses and strategies against the
expanding landscape of criminal activities as well as rapidly
advancing network technologies such as SDN or 5G and 6G.
Papers on practical as well as on theoretical topics and problems in
various topics related to cyber forensics and threat investigations,
are invited, with special emphasis on novel techniques and tools to
collect data from networked devices and services in emerging networks
(such as the ones can be found in cyber-physical systems and Internet
of things). Topics include (but are not limited to):
===========================
TOPICS
===========================

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Recently, machine learning, internet of thing (IoT), artificial
intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the key technologies to realize
e-health and m-health management in organizations (Agarwal et al., 2010;
Fichman et al. 2011; Haddad et al. 2019). Remarkably, the successful
utilization of mobile and ubiquitous computing technologies provides
acceptable, sustainable, and inexpensive ways for organizations to collect,
store, monitor, and process health-related data (WHO 2019). At the same
time, software and services such as online platform, mobile, and smartwatch
apps, and VR/AR emerged in this context allow organizations and users to
exploit and explore these masses of data and offer them immersive
interactions (Liu et al. 2019; Steinhubl 2013).
There is some early evidence shows that e-health and m-health, in isolation
and in combination, benefit organizations and users in an increasing
variety of aspects such as care provision, chronic disease management,
patient empowerment, information sharing across organizational boundaries
(e.g., Free et al. 2013; Huang et al. 2019). For instance, e-health and
m-health services powered with AI technologies have achieved primary
effects in combatting the emerging COVID-19 coronavirus (Time 2020).
However, the increase in e-health and m-health comes with increased
uncertainties and risks. How to make full use of e-health and m-health in
an efficient, economical, and privacy-preserving manner is still a
fundamental challenge for both academics and businesses. Therefore, we need
more advance methodological, empirical, theoretical, and conceptual
understanding for e-health and m-health management (Chen et al. 2019; Liu
et al. 2019; Gefen et al. 2011; Hair et al. 2019; Shiau et al. 2019; Khan
et al. 2019; Shiau and Chau, 2016).
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this special issue is to present ideas, innovations, and
applications of utilizing e-health and m-health technologies for improving
the efficiency, sustainability, and reliability of healthcare, and shed
light on how the value from e-health and m-health technologies can be
captured and amplified. We welcome submissions of original manuscripts that
advance methodological, empirical, theoretical, and conceptual
understanding of the opportunities and challenges related to the role of
e-health and m-health and how it can lead to value creation in areas such
as patient empowerment, elderly and chronic disease management, and
epidemics management. Manuscripts must have strong implications for theory
and practice.
RECOMMENDED TOPICS
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
• Adoption, diffusion, and use of e-health and m-health
• Organizational, clinical, and financial implications of
e-health and m-health
• E-health and m-health and their impacts on lifestyle, diets,
and exercise habits
• E-health and m-health and patient empowerment
• E-health and m-health and epidemics management (e.g., COVID-19,
Ebola)
• Elderly healthcare and chronic disease management
• User-generated content and its impact on healthcare practices
and providers
• Safety, security, and privacy of e-health and m-health
• Mobile technology and patient-centered healthcare management
• Applications of big data, IoT, and AI in healthcare (e.g., to
combat the emerging COVID-19 coronavirus)

CALL FOR PAPERS
Special issue on:
76/data/v1> Bright Information and Communication Technologies in the 21st
Century
The advancement of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the
21st century provides remarkable benefits to society. At the same time, the
dark sides of ICTs including threats to cybersecurity are also on the
increase. For example, as a result of cybersecurity breaches, Equifax was
hacked, which affected over 148 million Americans (Kennedy, 2017) and the
Facebook security breach exposed over 50 million user accounts (Isaac and
Frenkel, 2018). Considering the sophistication of ICTs in the 21st century
and its impact on our economy and national security, researchers should pay
more attention to investments in preventive cybersecurity mechanisms (Miaoui
and Boudriga, 2019) to minimize the effect of dark sides of ICTs use and
investigate bright concepts and approaches to drastically reduce its
undesirable effects (Lee, 2015; Lee et al., 2020). To respond to this need,
numerous researchers and practitioners in the Information Systems community
(e.g., Lee, et al., 2018) have discussed the vision of the Bright Internet
and contemplated a broad coverage of technical, managerial, economic, and
policy solutions towards developing global trust building in computing
environment, with emphasis on preventive cybersecurity
(http://brightinternet.org/).
This call for papers invites original contributions, reflecting broad areas
of technical and empirical researches to provide managerial and policy
implications in the areas of bright ICTs and trusted computing. Researchers
may employ any applicable IS research methods (analytical modeling,
experiments, case study, computational models, design science, survey,
etc.). This special issue will be fast-tracked for publication from the
accepted papers presented at a post conference workshop of the ICIS
(International Conference on Information Systems): Bright Internet Global
Summit 2020 @ Hyderabad (http://brightinternet.org/bigs2020/) to be held on
December 16, 2020. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the
following:
* Cybersecurity issues currently encountered by countries, companies,
and individual citizens, and what can be done about these issues?
* The status of global cybersecurity and security governance
* The next generation Internet, and the principles that Bright
Internet should adopt
* Required regulations to establish the goals of Bright Internet
* Novel and useful methodological approaches to establish Bright

The best JSIS paper of 2019 is:
Chanias, S., Myers, M. D., & Hess, T. (2019). "Digital transformation
strategy making in pre-digital organizations: The case of a financial
services provider." The Journal of Strategic Information Systems, 28(1),
17-33.

Congratulations to Simon Chanias, Institute for Information Systems and
New Media, LMU Munich, Germany; Michael Myers, University of Auckland
Business School, New Zealand; and Thomas Hess, LMU!
Their article commences from recognition that the formulation and
implementation of a digital transformation strategy (DTS) has become a
key challenge for many pre-digital organizations across traditional
industries. Using interpretive in-depth case studies, they study how a
European financial services provider formulated and implemented a DTS.
By focusing on the underlying processes and strategizing activities,
they demonstrate that digital strategy making not only represents a
break with the conventions of upfront strategic information systems (IS)
planning, but reveals a new extreme of emergent strategy making. They
conclude that a DTS is continuously in the making; a highly dynamic
process involving iterating between learning and doing; and building on
theory from IS strategizing and strategy-as-practice literature, they
theorize an integrated process/activity model that characterizes DTS
formulation and implementation in pre-digital organizations.
This year we don't have a single runner-up. There were too many strong,
close possibilities. Even listing the four below, we are yet
uncomfortable given the several other very close contenders.
- Vial, G. (2019). Understanding digital transformation: A review and a
research agenda. The Journal of Strategic Information Systems 28(2),
118-144.
- Baker, J., & Singh, H. (2019). The roots of misalignment: Insights on
strategy implementation from a system dynamics perspective. The Journal
of Strategic Information Systems, 28(4), 101576.
- Jones, M. (2019). What we talk about when we talk about (big) data.
The Journal of Strategic Information Systems, 28(1), 3-16.
- Moeini, M., Rahrovani, Y., & Chan, Y. E. (2019). A review of the
practical relevance of IS strategy scholarly research. The Journal of
Strategic Information Systems, 28(2), 196-217.
In combination, these papers make significant contributions beyond the
topics to the Information Systems field more generally.
We are pleased to give promotional access to the winning paper, which
can be read free online until the end of 2020.
