Co-located with IEEE European Symposium on Security and Privacy
(EuroS&P) -
https://www.ieee-security.org/TC/EuroSP2020/<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ieee-…>
15 June 2020 - Genova, Italy
Privacy engineering research is emerging as an important topic.
Engineers are increasingly expected to build and maintain
privacy-preserving and data-protection compliant systems in different
ICT domains such as health, energy, transportation, social computing,
law enforcement, public services; based on different infrastructures
such as cloud, grid, or mobile computing and architectures. While there
is a consensus on the benefits of an engineering approach to privacy,
concrete proposals for models, methods, techniques, and tools that
support engineers and organizations in this endeavor are few and in need
of immediate attention.
To cover this gap, the topics of the International Workshop on Privacy
Engineering (IWPE20) focus on all the aspects surrounding privacy
engineering, ranging from its theoretical foundations, engineering
approaches, and support infrastructures, to its practical application in
projects of different scale. Specifically, we are seeking the following
kinds of papers: (1) technical papers that illustrate the engineering or
application of a novel formalism, method or other research finding
(e.g., a privacy-enhancing protocol) with preliminary evaluation; (2)
experience and practice papers that describe a case study, challenge or
lessons learned from in a specific domain; (3) early evaluations of
tools and other infrastructure that support engineering tasks in privacy
requirements, design, implementation, testing, etc.; (4)
interdisciplinary studies or critical reviews of existing privacy
engineering concepts, methods, tools, and frameworks; or (5) vision
papers that take a clear position informed by evidence-based on a
thorough literature review.
IWPE’20 welcomes papers that focus on novel solutions on the recent
developments in the general area of privacy engineering. Topics of
interests include, but are not limited to:
* Integrating law and policy compliance into the development process
* Privacy or data protection impact assessments in the engineering context
* Privacy engineering and data-driven software development
* Privacy engineering in machine learning and AI
* Privacy engineering and data subject access rights and data portability
* Privacy risk management models
* Technical standards, heuristics and best practices for privacy engineering
* User privacy and data protection requirements
* Management of privacy requirements with other system requirements
* Privacy-preserving architectures for databases, networks, and the cloud
* Privacy engineering in the context of interaction design and usability
* Validation and verification of privacy properties and requirements
* Engineering Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs)
* Integration of PETs into systems or the development ecosystem
* Tools and formal languages supporting privacy engineering
* Teaching and training privacy engineering
* Pilots and real-world applications
* Evaluation of privacy engineering methods, technologies and tools
* Organizational, legal, political and economic aspects of privacy
engineering
This topic list is not meant to be exhaustive as IWPE is interested in
all aspects of privacy engineering. However, to screen out off-topic
papers early in the review process, we request authors to submit an
abstract prior to their paper submission. Abstracts of papers without a
clear application to privacy engineering will be considered outside the
scope of this workshop and may be rejected.
For accepted papers, at least one author must attend the workshop.
Important Dates
Paper submission deadline:
Sunday, March 1, 2020 (Anywhere on Earth)
Notification:
Wednesday, March 25, 2020
Camera ready:
Wednesday, April 1, 2020
Workshop:
Monday, June 15, 2020
PAPER FORMAT & SUBMISSION
IWPE 2020 offers the choice of archival and non-archival paper
submissions. The non-archival option is offered to avoid precluding
future submissions to area-specific venues.
Accepted archival submissions will be published in IEEE Xplore, which is
indexed by EI Engineering Index, ISI Conference Proceedings Citation
Index (CPCI-S), Scopus, etc. We are negotiating with a JCR-indexed
journal a special issue on privacy engineering, and the best papers will
also be invited to submit.
We solicit short papers (up to 4 pages) and long papers (up to 8 pages)
reporting technical, research or industry experience on all dimensions
of privacy engineering. Each paper, written in English, must follow the
IEEE conference proceedings

The AI3D 2020 workshop is intended to provide a common forum for
researchers, scientists, engineers, and practitioners throughout the
world to present their latest research findings, developments, and
applications in the area of Artificial Intelligence for 3D Big Spatial
Data Processing. Recent advances in laser technology has resulted in the
generation of a massive amount of 3D spatial data. The 3D spatial data
offer a useful source of information for natural resource management,
urban panning, autonomous driving, etc. Artificial intelligence (AI) has
the potential to take the 3D spatial data processing into hyper-growth.
Recently, 3D indoor mapping systems, terrestrial mobile mapping systems
(MMS) and airborne LiDAR systems are capable of collecting terabytes of
data (including images and point clouds) in a single scan or on a single
trip. Existing approaches and tools lack the efficient management,
processing and analysis of 3D spatial data. Many of these issues can be
solved by using Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning to redefine the
work flow. This workshop focuses on the use of Artificial Intelligence
and Deep Learning to improve the processing, management and analysis of
3D Big Spatial data. The workshop aims at providing a platform to the
group of researchers working in this direction to share their work,
exchange ideas, and solve research problems.

Workshop on Adaptive and Personalized Privacy and Security (APPS 2020) -
ACM UMAP Workshop
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Second International Workshop on Adaptive and Personalized Privacy
and Security, in conjunction with the 28th ACM Conference on User
Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization (ACM UMAP 2020), Genoa, Italy,
July 17, 2020
Workshop Website: http://appsworkshop.cs.ucy.ac.cy
Paper Submissions: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=apps2020
IMPORTANT DATES
Submission deadline: April 13, 2020 (23:59 AoE time)
Notification: April 30, 2020
Camera-ready papers: May 06, 2020
MOTIVATION & GOALS
Millions of users across different continents and countries are daily
engaged with privacy and security tasks which are indispensable in
modern information systems and services. Such tasks are commonly related
to user authentication, human interaction proofs (e.g., captcha),
privacy and security pop-up dialogs, setting privacy and security
features within online user profiles, etc. Recent privacy and security
incidents of famous online services have once more underpinned the
necessity towards further investigating and improving current approaches
and practices related to the design of efficient and effective privacy
and security. In order to achieve this objective, one possible direction
is related to providing adaptive and personalized characteristics to
privacy- and security-related user tasks, given the diversity of the
user characteristics (like cultural, cognitive, age, habits), the
technology (like standalone, mobile, mixed-virtual-augmented reality,
wearables) and interaction contexts of use (like being on the move,
social settings, spatial limitations). Hence, adaptive and personalized
privacy and security implies the ability of an interactive system or
service to support its end-users, who are engaged in privacy- and/or
security-related tasks, based on user models which describe in a
holistic way what constitutes the user's physical, technological and
interaction context in which computation takes place.
APPS 2020 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working
on diverse topics related to understanding and improving the usability
of privacy and security software and systems, by applying user modeling,
adaptation and personalization principles.
Our special focus in 2020 will be on healthcare systems, more
specifically on ensuring security and privacy of medical data in smart
patient-centric healthcare systems.
The workshop will address the following objectives: - increase our
understanding and knowledge on supporting usable privacy
and security interaction design through novel user modeling mechanisms
and adaptive user interfaces;
- discuss methods and techniques for understanding user attitudes and
perceptions towards privacy and security issues in various application
areas;
- identify human-centered models for the design, development and
evaluation of adaptive and personalized privacy and security systems;
- discuss methods for evaluating the impact and added value of
adaptation and personalization in privacy and security systems.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Privacy and security in smart patient-centric healthcare systems
- Adaptation and personalization approaches in usable privacy and
security
- Effects of human factors (e.g., cognition, personality, etc.) in
privacy and security systems
- Novel user interaction concepts and user interfaces for achieving
usable security
- Cultural diversity in usable privacy and security
- Context-aware privacy and security
- Adaptive usable security in various domains such as healthcare, IoT,
automotive
- Trust perceived in patient-centric healthcare systems
- Perceived security and usability in patient-centric healthcare systems
- Adaptive user authentication policies
- Novel approaches to the design and evaluation of usable security
systems
- Lessons learned from the deployment and use of usable privacy and
security features
- Ethical considerations in adaptive and personalized privacy and
security
PAPER SUBMISSION & PUBLICATION
All workshop papers must contain original, previously unpublished,
research work adhering the two publication types:
- Full research papers (6-8 pages, incl. references), proposing new
approaches, innovative methods and research findings.
- Short research papers (2-4 pages, incl. references), presenting works
in progress, lessons learned, emerging or future research issues and
directions on topics related to APPS.
Manuscripts should be formatted using the ACM SIG Standard (SIGCONF)
proceedings template
(http://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template).
