CALL FOR PAPERS
6th WebAndTheCity – Web Intelligence and Smart Cities
In conjunction with The Web Conference (WWW’20): 30th World Wide Web
International Conference, Taipei, April 21, 2020
http://webandthecity.home.blog/
Important Dates
-------------------------
Submissions due: Jan 20, 2020 (23:59 Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time zone)
Notification of Acceptance: Jan. 31, 2020
Camera-ready version due: Feb. 17, 2020
Workshop authors’ registration and camera-ready papers: Feb. 17, 2020
Workshop day: April 21, 2020
Workshop Objective
----------------------------
This is the 6th edition of the workshop series with the label “Web
Applications and Smart Cities” (previous name: AW4City), which started
back in Florence in 2015 and kept on taking place every year in
conjunction with the WWW conference series. Last year the workshop was
in San Francisco during The Web Conference 2019. The workshop series aim
to investigate the role of the Web and of Web applications in smart city
growth.
This year, the workshop changes its label to “WebAndTheCity” and expands
its scope beyond typical web applications and Apps, with the inclusion
of Web Intelligence that enables self-evolving smart services in SC:
services that vary from typical government transactions and petitions,
to mobility applications (e.g., parking and route location) and to smart
living apps (e.g., transact with buildings) can utilize machine learning
and data in order to self-evolve, adapt to citizen needs and even
transform to custom and more efficient and effective.
WebAndTheCity aims at gathering researchers from the fields of SC that
are related to this year’s conference topics, to think about the
obstacles that hurdle the leveraging of understanding and capturing of
SC trends with regard to the WWW role (web-based, Apps, platforms and
web intelligence).
Theoretical concepts, empirical evidence and selected case studies from
leading scholars and practitioners in the field showing the “big
picture” of smart cities and urban areas will be examined in this workshop.
WebAndTheCity is timely since the SC emerges rapidly with the
contribution of all the scientific fields, while ISO37120 and ISO37122
attempt to certify and measure the performance of SC services. Last but
not least, customer satisfaction from SC services is being measured
real-time with corresponding data collection. All these issues are being
supported by data, the Web, Apps and recently with AI and it is
important to focus on future achievements. Additionally, an increasing
criticism is that smart city represents an ambiguous urban utopia, which
is supported by the partnership of local governments with big
technological vendors. Articles can deliver a clearer view of smart city
reality, while innovative applications can strengthen the existence of
opportunities for new entrants in the SC market.
We target researchers from both industry and academia to join forces in
this exciting area. We intend to discuss the recent and significant
developments in the general areas of smart cities and web applications
and to promote cross-fertilization of techniques. In particular, we aim
at identifying trends and respective applications in smart cities; the
potential impact of smart city in web applications; techniques from
end-to-end solutions’ or apps’ development that will enable researchers
to understand the dynamic phenomena in smart cities, as well as specify
important directions for the research communities. Standards for web
applications’ development in smart cities is interesting for several
areas such as sustainability, crisis management, marketing, security,
and interoperability. To address the above mentioned aspects, we solicit
the following topics (but not limited to):
• Enhancing citizen and visitor experience with Web Applications and
Services, especially controlled by AI;
• Apps and services that support mobility, sharing, crowd-sourcing etc.;
• Smart City platforms (e.g. parking; traffic management; environment etc.);
• Smart and Self evolving services (e.g. self-responsive government
services);
• Practices of Web applications, Apps and AI in smart cities;
• Theoretical foundations on Smart City applications and standards;
• Creative partnerships, creative industries and industry 4.0 in Smart
City with a focus on application development and AI (Internet Economics
and Monetization);
• Pervasive Web for Smart City emerging topics (i.e., user behavior
analytics, energy, water, waste, transportation etc.)
• The role of city stakeholders for smart city applications development
and standardization (i.e., promotion push, start-ups, open data);
• Web Infrastructure and AI service standardization;
• The role of standards on smart city data mining;
• Smart city information quality and evolution in social content;
• Ensuring security and privacy in Smart Cities: the role of web
applications and Apps.

The 10th International Workshop on Big Data and Cloud Performance
(DCPerf’20)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
in conjunction with IEEE INFOCOM 2020
April 27, 2020, Beijing, China
https://infocom2020.ieee-infocom.org/workshop-big-data-and-cloud-performance
The 10th Workshop on Big Data and Cloud Performance (DCPerf'20) will be
held in conjunction with the IEEE INFOCOM'20 in Beijing, China on April
27, 2020. The goal of DCPerf is to promote a community-wide discussion
to identify suitable strategies to enable effective and scalable
performance optimizations. Submissions on any topics of datacenter,
cloud and bigdata performance are welcome. Submission site will remain
open until Jan. 8th, 2020.
Cloud data centers are the backbone infrastructure for tomorrow's
information technology. Their advantages are efficient resource
provisioning and low operational costs for supporting a wide range of
computing needs, be it in
business, scientific or mobile/pervasive environments. Because of the
rapid growth in user-defined and user-generated applications and
content, the range of services provided at data centers will expand
tremendously and unpredictably. Particularly, big data applications and
services, e.g., social and environmental sensing, and IoT monitoring,
present a unique class of challenges in the Cloud. In addition, the high
volume of mixed workloads and the diversity of services offered render
the performance optimization of data centers even more challenging.
Moreover, important optimization criteria, such as scalability,
reliability, manageability, power efficiency, area density, and
operating costs, are often conflicting. The increasing mobility of users
across geographically distributed areas adds another dimension to
optimizing big data and cloud applications.
The goal of this workshop is to promote a community-wide discussion to
identify suitable strategies to enable effective and scalable
performance optimizations. We are looking for papers that present new
techniques, introduce new methodologies, propose new research
directions, or discuss strategies for resolving open performance
problems for hosting big data analytics in the cloud.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Big data applications and services
- Emerging IoT applications
- Data flow management
- Processing platforms
- Empirical studies
- Cloud systems
- Novel architectures
- Resource allocation
- Content distribution
- Evaluation/modeling methodology
- Big data and cloud performance - Cost/pricing design
- Power/energy management
- Reliability/dependability
- Performance evaluation/modeling
- Big data in the cloud
- Intra/Inter communication
- Network protocols
- Security
- Real-time analytics

the button "TESTIMONIALS" placed at the top of the left column of each
of the conference web sites.
We hope to continue creating and expanding inter-disciplinary networks
while facilitating the ever-growing expansion of each individual
discipline represented at our conferences. We know this is only possible
with contributions from people such as yourself. It is for this reason
that we would greatly appreciate your contribution to the conference.
You are also welcome to forward this message to any appropriate
colleagues and/or groups whose contributions would further promote the
interdisciplinary growth of all the various disciplines represented in
our conferences.
Thank you for your time, and we look forward to your contribution.
Respectfully,
ICETI 2020 Organizing Committee

CALL FOR PAPERS
===============
8th European Conference and Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing (ESOCC
2020)
April 1-3, 2020, Heraklion, Crete, Greece
https://www.esocc-conf.eu
---------
Scope
---------
Service-oriented and cloud computing have made a huge impact both on the
software industry and on the research community. Today, service and cloud
technologies are applied to build large-scale software landscapes as well
as to provide single software services to end users. Services today are
independently developed and deployed as well as freely composed while they
can be implemented in a variety of technologies, a quite important fact
from a business perspective. Similarly, cloud computing aims at enabling
flexibility by offering a centralized sharing of resources. The industry's
need for agile and flexible software and IT systems has made cloud
computing the dominating paradigm for provisioning computational resources
in a scalable, on-demand fashion. Nevertheless, service developers,
providers, and integrators still need to create methods, tools and
techniques to support cost-effective and secure development as well as use
of dependable devices, platforms, services and service-oriented
applications in the cloud.
The European Conference on Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing (ESOCC) is
the premier conference on advances in the state of the art and practice of
service-oriented computing and cloud computing in Europe. The main
objectives of this conference are to facilitate the exchange between
researchers and practitioners in the areas of service-oriented computing
and cloud computing, as well as to explore the new trends in those areas
and foster future collaborations in Europe and beyond.

Subject: [AISWorld] CALL FOR BOOK CHAPTERS: Cross-Border E-Commerce
Marketing and Management (March 16, 2020)
Date: Sun, 24 Nov 2019 18:17:31 +0600
From: Md Hoque <rakibulmisdu(a)gmail.com>
To: AISWorld(a)lists.aisnet.org, rakibul <rakibul(a)du.ac.bd>
CALL FOR BOOK CHAPTERS
Cross-Border E-Commerce Marketing and Management
Edited by Md. Rakibul Hoque & Ed Bashaw
(Emporia State University, USA)
To be published by IGI-Global in 2020
Proposals Submission Deadline: December 1, 2019
Introduction
With the advancement in globalization, the internet connectivity,
international payment system, logistics and shipping process, the
cross-border e-Commerce industry has been thriving fast since the
establishment of China based e-Commerce site knows as Alibaba.com in 1999.
The most common reason that the consumers purchase from cross-border
e-Commerce sites is that unavailability of specific products and services
in their home countries. About 67% of the global consumers reported that
they purchase from foreign online vendors on the e-Commerce sites because
of having lower price outside their country. And while comparing the
cross-border purchase of tangible goods and services, the report shows that
about 12% and 50% of the global purchases occur on the e-commerce
platforms.
This book would bring the perspectives, issues, reviews and case studies
that are contemporary and specific to cross-border e-Commerce industry. In
this process, the book proposes for incorporating the chapters that would
enhance knowledge of the stakeholders of cross-border e-Commerce. The book
would start with providing an overview of the inception of the cross-border
e-Commerce industry and its future. As the regulations, policies, taxation
system, degree of technology integration, law and logistic frameworks vary
from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, this book would cover their impacts on
the cross-border e-Commerce consumers’ motive, suppliers, pricing, custom
clearance, and marketing strategies. Moreover, the existing theoretical
studies on the cross-border e-Commerce would be reviewed. Furthermore, the
framework and facilities needed for developing a digital logistic system
would be discussed. This book would also provide a guideline on how to
launch a cross-border business and conduct digital marketing targeting the
international online consumers and finally end with some case studies on
how the artificial intelligence, drop-shipping idea and the mega project
like One Belt and One Road initiative by China are facilitating the growth
of cross-border e-Commerce industry.

Subject: [AISWorld] [AISWORLD] Final Call for Paper ECIS2020 Knowledge
Management and Digitization
Date: Sun, 24 Nov 2019 07:37:37 +0000
From: Thalmann, Stefan (stefan.thalmann(a)uni-graz.at)
<stefan.thalmann(a)uni-graz.at>

FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS ECIS-2020
Track: Knowledge Management and Digitization
European Conference on Information Systems, June 15-17, 2020,
Marrakech, Morocco
https://ecis2020.ma/ecis-2020-tracks/
************************************************************************************************************
Main goal of the track is to gather current research with an emphasis on
how digitization impacts KM in the context of a changing business and
social environment focusing on emerging trends such as sharing society
and economy. KM has become an interdisciplinary research field - the
traditional gap between researcher from a technology-oriented versus a
human-oriented angle has been bridged by holistic, socio-technical
approaches. We currently see strong developments towards research on
data-driven technologies, AI, changing digital tools (such as the use of
social software or machine learning for business and private purposes)
as well as towards entire digital business models (such as multi-sided
online platforms or networks and online communities) fostering knowledge
sharing across organizations.
Due to digitization, organizational and national boundaries become more
blurred and knowledge can be diffused much easier. Openness and
inter-organizational collaboration build the digital pathway of rich,
contextualized and sustainable knowledge sharing activities among
networked persons within and beyond organizational boundaries. Besides
benefits of the increased sharing also risks of losing competitive
advantage arise. Hence, organizations should carefully balance their
activities to promote and control knowledge sharing, to protect their
competitive knowledge.
This track aims to promote multi-disciplinary contributions dealing with
a managerial, an economic, a methodological, a cultural or a
socio-technical perspective. Submissions based on theoretical research,
design research, action research, or behavioral research are encouraged.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Requirements of digitization towards KM
* KM in the context of data-driven business models
* Knowledge risks arising along digitized supply chains
* Balancing knowledge sharing and knowledge protection for
inter-organizational collaboration
* From technology-oriented towards human-oriented KM in digital environments
* Social and behavioral issues in the context of KM and digitization
* KM and technology enhanced learning
* AI for technology-mediated social collaboration
* Knowledge life cycle and data-driven decision support
* Cross-organizational, cross-border and cross-cultural KM in digitized
worls
* AI to capture and share knowledge in social networks and distributed
contexts
* Support for mature KM solutions: KM governance, KM strategies, KM
maturity models, and KM performance
* KM and risk management
* KM for digital competency development
We solicit full research papers and research in progress papers for this
track.

Subject: [WI] Final CfP: Business Analytics and Big Data @ ECIS 2020

Final Call for Papers
28th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS 2020)
June 15th – 17th 2020 / Marrakesh, Morocco
Track: Business Analytics and Big Data
(https://ecis2020.ma/ecis-2020-tracks/
*Track Description*
Applications benefitting from data, information, and knowledge
constitute the foundation for the datafication of our society reshaping
the nature of information systems. While the datafication can help the
drive towards a sustainable and inclusive future enabling Liberty,
Equality, and Fraternity in a Digitizing World, the use of data can also
lead to threats to our freedoms, to fairness, and to community.
Consequently, ethical consideration in novel and advanced approaches for
collecting, storing, managing, and analyzing data are required and
challenge practitioners and academia as more and more data (big data)
becomes available. This trend, as well as digitalization in general,
fosters the assimilation and further development of business
intelligence and business analytics approaches within organizations and
across various industries. In addition, governments and non-profit
organizations can benefit from new opportunities raised by analytical
applications and technologies.
Many scholars are now emphasizing the importance of business analytics
and big data approaches as well as information assets for efficient and
effective decision support, management, and leadership. Business
analytics is essential for an organization’s daily business, directly
influencing firm performance and business development in a global world.
The application of business analytics and big data approaches enables us
to integrate, analyze, visualize, and ultimately understand and improve
the complex processes that make up our digitized world. Such approaches
are enablers for knowledge discovery benefitting societies,
organizations, and individuals leading to smart technologies. Improved
communication, more sustainable processes, as well as new business
models are examples for the innovative use of disparate data sources
(such as mobile, the Internet of Things, streaming data or social media
data). Furthermore, the availability of seemingly endless computing and
cheaper storage capabilities available through cloud computing enables
new opportunities in providing a global gateway to information as a service.
Over the past few years, there has much enthusiasm around business
analytics as organizations explore how they can leverage their data to
create and maintain a competitive advantage. As such, today’s companies
try to collect and process as much data as possible, with the aim of
improving their decision-making processes. Nevertheless, while there is
some empirical evidence that business analytics can create value, the
thesis that it leads to performance gains requires deeper analysis. To
date, there is limited understanding of how organizations need to change
to embrace these technological innovations, and the business shifts they
entail. As big data tools and applications diffuse into the
organizational fabric, they will inevitably change long-standing ideas
about decision making, management practices, and most importantly
competitive strategy formulation.
Motivated by the explosion of interest in these emerging fields, the
present track aims to promote multidisciplinary contributions dealing
with socio-economic, organizational, technological, cultural, and
societal perspectives. Furthermore, outcomes that demonstrate critical
success factors on the organizational impact of business analytics and
big data in terms of competitive performance, innovativeness, increased
agility, and market capitalizing competence are encouraged. We welcome
submissions based on quantitative and qualitative work, theoretical
research, design research, action research, or behavioral research.
We are especially interested in papers that discuss and expand our
understanding of how digital technologies are influencing and impacting
fundamental human values, whether at the individual, the organization
and/or the societal level. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
* The role of business intelligence, business analytics, and big data
for liberty, equality, and fraternity in a digitizing world
* Strategic and change management issues stemming from business
analytics and big data
* Business value and success of business analytics and big data
* Emerging and changing concepts and methodologies for business
analytics and big data
* Use cases and innovative applications for business analytics and big data
* Adoption, routinization, maturity, and use of business analytics and
big data
* Data privacy, data quality, and data governance
* Opportunities and challenges of sharing data and of open data
* Big-data-driven business model innovation and the digital ecosystem
big data
* Data visualization, visual analytics
* Business analytics in the cloud, business analytics as a service
* Data, text and social media analytics for business analytics
* Process mining and the benefits of robotic process automation
* Digital manufacturing and the Internet of Things
* Operational, real-time, or event-driven business analytics
*Special Issue*
Following ECIS 2020, selected papers will be invited to submit a
considerably enhanced and extended revision of the paper reflecting the
discussion at ECIS to the Journal of Business Analytics (JBA). JBA
encourages empirical papers focusing on real problems using real data to
provide innovative methodological contributions. JBA’s current issue is
available at https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/tjba20/current
