Betreff: [AISWorld] CFP DIGIT workshop at ICIS 2017
Datum: Mon, 24 Jul 2017 05:48:46 -0400

Technology http://www.sigadit.net/digit.html
*Call for paper*
Submissions Due: Friday, September 8th, 2017 (Final deadline; there will be
no deadline extension)
Workshop: Sunday, December 10, 2017
*Theme: The Bright and the Dark Side of IT Use *
Recent years have witnessed an increasing integration of information
technology (IT) in our personal and professional lives, transforming the
way we work, study, play, and socialize. With an unrelenting pace of
innovation, organizations and consumers now face many new dilemmas, new
questions, and new uncertainties. Individuals might on the one side be
challenged to adapt to the changes induced by the infiltration of IT. They
might feel a great uncertainty about these technologies and might have the
impression that they are able to deal with this development in both the
private and the business world. On the other hand, individuals might use IT
to take advantage of the benefits provided to the individual or
organization. Therefore, we believe that it is equally important to examine
both the “Bright” and the “Dark” effects of IT use.
As noted by Lee (2016) and other like-minded researchers (e.g., Majchrzak,
Markus, & Wareham, 2016; Tarafdar, Gupta, & Turel, 2013), there are two
main sets of research issues associated with the “Bright” and the “Dark”
side of IT use. One set of issues raised related to the undesirable
consequences of IT use in individual, organizational, and social contexts
(like security and privacy issues, cybercrimes, technology addiction,
cyberbullying, online fraud, spreading of rumors, cyberslacking, and
infringement of intellectual property right). A second set of issues
related to the benefits associated with the use of IT. In particular, there
is a need to focus on how IT empowers individuals, employees,
organizations, or societies.
This workshop has been organized in an effort to develop theoretical
insight and understanding on topics and issues that address the Bright and
the Dark side of IT use. We aim to provide an interactive forum by bringing
together leading academics to discuss the critical issues of IT use. Now in
its 27th year the SIGADIT community offers the 2017 DIGIT workshop to
provide researchers with an opportunity to discuss the implications of this
development. We would also like to encourage contributions that use new
methodological approaches that are based on the diffusion of IT to study
technology adoption, use and diffusion phenomena. Potential topics related
to the theme of the 2017 DIGIT workshop include (but are not limited to):
- The “Bright” side or positive impacts of IT adoption and use for
individuals, organizations, and societies
- The “Dark” side or negative consequences of IT adoption and use for
individuals, organizations, and societies
- Factors enabling or inhibiting acceptance and use of IT
- Potential IT and/or non-IT solutions that mitigate IT-use related
problems
- Responsible use of IT
- New theoretical perspectives on acceptance, use and diffusion of IT
- New methodological approaches to study acceptance, use and diffusion
of IT
Submitted research can be conceptual, analytical, design-oriented, or
empirical in nature. The workshop will include paper presentations, paper
roundtables, panel discussions and poster presentations.
*Instructions for Contributors*
In the interest of discussing the most current research in this area, we
welcome
- Full research papers (fourteen single-spaced pages)
- Research-in-progress papers (seven single-spaced pages)
- Research idea abstracts (two single-spaced pages)
All submissions will be blind reviewed. Papers should not have been
published previously in proceedings or journals, nor be under review
elsewhere, but it is the general objective of the workshop that they will
be submitted to a premier outlet after the DIGIT workshop.
Submission will be published in the AIS Electronic Library. The authors can
choose whether they want the full paper or only an extended abstract to be
published. For past submissions see: http://aisel.aisnet.org/digit/
*Instructions for Submissions*
*The deadline for submission of papers is Friday, September 8, 2017.*
This is the final deadline; there will be no deadline extension.
Notification of acceptance or rejection will be made in late October.
All papers must conform to the instructions given in the DIGIT 2017
submission template. They must be single-spaced and submitted in Microsoft
Word format. Full research and research-in-progress papers should include
an abstract. Page counts exclude the title page, references and appendices.
The title page should include the paper title and the authors' names,
affiliations, and e-mail addresses. The main body of the paper should have
a title, but no author identification.
Please use the DIGIT 2017 submission template, which can be found online at
http://www.sigadit.net/digit.html.
This year, all paper submissions should be submitted using the submission
system at https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/DIGIT2017
Questions regarding paper submissions should be directed to the program
co-chairs: Christy Cheung (ccheung(a)hkbu.edu.hk) or Geneviève Bassellier (
genevieve.bassellier(a)mcgill.ca).
*Instructions for Participation*
The workshop date will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017. At least one
author must register and attend the workshop to present the paper if the
work is accepted.
*Up to 1 doctoral student authors will receive a scholarship towards
registration and travel costs. Up to 3 doctoral student authors will
receive a partial scholarship to cover their workshop fee. Depending upon
remaining funds, full or partial scholarships will be offered to all other
doctoral students, who submit papers for workshop consideration. Please
contact the Workshop Chair, Sven Laumer, for additional information.*
