Description of the Mini-Track: The goal of business analytics (BA) is to summarize massive amounts of disparate corporate and customer data into succinct information that can help management better understand their business processes, make informed decisions, and measure and improve organizational performance. In today's hypercompetitive environment, accurate real-time BA metrics are even more critical for measuring and enhancing organizational performance. These capabilities have been attributed to the role of Data Scientist. With data being the foundation for the development of information and knowledge, this mini-track seeks a focus on both an organizational and pedagogical perspective for the development and recognition of the Data Scientist. The skill set of the Data Scientist has focused on the abilities of programming, business insights and statistical model building. However, with the rapid accumulation of data stores in organizations, the transfer of data to information and knowledge has become more complex and prior techniques must give way to processes that allow continuous knowledge creation. Paper submissions are encouraged that: further expand and explain the role of the data scientist in organizational knowledge creation; develop and expand the skill set of the data scientist role with respect to maintaining knowledge creation in an organization; explain the techniques necessary to ensure continuous knowledge creation. Submissions of regular papers (RPs) must follow the condensed TPLP format (template available from ICLP’s web page) and not exceed 14 pages including bibliography. RPs may be supplemented with appendices for proofs and details of datasets which do not count towards the page limit and which will be available as appendices to the published paper. Three kinds of RPs will be accepted: * Technical papers for technically sound, innovative ideas that can advance the state of logic programming; * Application papers that impact interesting application domains; * System and tool papers which emphasize novelty, practicality, usability, and availability of the systems and tools described. Application, system, and tool papers need to be clearly marked in their title. All submissions must be written in English and describe original, previously unpublished research, and must not simultaneously be submitted for publication elsewhere. Papers of the highest quality will be selected to be published in the journal of Theory and Practice of Logic Programming (TPLP), Cambridge University Press (CUP). In order to ensure the quality of the final version, papers may be subject to more than one round of refereeing (within the decision period). The program committee may recommend some RPs to be published as Technical Communications (TCs). TCs will be published by Dagstuhl Publishing in the OpenAccess Series in Informatics (OASIcs). TCs must follow the OASIcs format (template available from ICLP’s web page) and not exceed 14 pages excluding the bibliography and a short appendix (up to 5 more pages). TC’s authors can also elect to convert their submissions into extended abstracts, of 2 or 3 pages, for inclusion in the OASIcs proceedings. This should allow authors to submit a long version elsewhere. There is also a second submission round only for TCs. Submissions to this extra round must also follow the OASIcs format indicated above. Cyber-assurance is the justified confidence that networked systems are adequately secure to meet operational needs, even in the presence of attacks, failures, accidents and unexpected events. Cyber-assurance means that IoT/Fog Computing smart internet connected devices (ICD) and networks possess intrinsic, immutable security properties that make them proof against cyber-attacks. The difference is that the concept of cyber-assurance must provide embedded, secure microchips/processors in ICD devices and networks that can continue to operate correctly even when subjected to an attack. IoT/Fog Computing devices, systems and networks should be able to resist the various security cyber-attacks such as hacking of networks, devices, theft of information, disruption, etc. and be able to continue functioning with designed minimum levels of performance under severe environmental conditions. Through embedded processors and algorithms over the transmitted information, the miscoding and leaking of information during transmission channels must be prevente to mitigate any loss of data. Timely adjustments of information with falling quality and automatic switching to the best routing IoT/Fog Computing system by making uses of multi-directional routing is also warranted. Cyber-assurance will need to provide the principles and technologies to unify these systems to deliver the end-state goal of secure IoT/Fog Computing systems for greatly enhanced interoperability, scalability, performance, and agility. Yet, more recent assistance functionalities, primarily in the private life context, such as Apple's Siri or Google Now, showed their usefulness and the major technology companies (Google, Amazon, and Microsoft) announced even more intelligent and innovative personal assistants for the future. In the IS context, a user assistance system is an intelligent and interactive information technology (IT) component that enables individuals to perform tasks better. The degree of interaction characterizes the assistance system's capability to support users in an ongoing reciprocal and activating dialog using, potentially, different channels. The degree of intelligence describes the assistance system's capability to provide guidance or advice based on the user's current activities and usage environment. By tailoring assistance to the users' current context and needs during the task execution, for example by making use of the sensors or historical user data that many devices nowadays have access to, more advanced assistance systems can provide IS users with added value. Although there are various attempts in IS, especially in the human-computer-interaction community, to study the effects of assistance and to provide concrete solutions in the form of prototypes, a great deal of research is still needed. In particular, because technologies like smart watches, smart glasses, or virtual reality environments steadily evolve providing interesting data that can be used to tailor the assistance. Moreover, there is a recent trend in research as well as technology companies to invest in artificial intelligence research that could be leveraged for improving assistance systems in the IS context. Thus, designing user assistance systems is a promising research field that deserves more attention in IS research and related communities. INTENDED PARTICIPANTS We invite researchers as well as practitioners with an interest in the conceptualization, design, and evaluation of interactive and intelligent user assistance systems (UAS) for supporting users' task execution and decision making. Given the broad spectrum of UAS and the topics' interdisciplinary, we invite researchers and practitioners focusing, for example, on human-computer-interaction, decision support and decision making, business intelligence and analytics, intelligent user interfaces, and human behavior in IS to advance the topic in the workshop. WORKSHOP TOPICS We are interested in manuscripts addressing one of the following topics: · Theory-grounded conceptualization of user assistance systems in general or the two dimensions interactivity and intelligence · Design of user assistance systems in the form of decision aids, recommendation systems, virtual assistants, guidance systems, task-support systems, or digital assistance systems · Research on the IT-based support of individuals' working routines in organizational or private life contexts · Empirical (qualitative or quantitative) evaluation of user assistance system artifacts in, e.g. laboratory experiments or field studies · Research addressing the context and situation when user assistance systems are required · Research on the individuals' cognitive processes when using user assistance systems and the related outcomes Manuscripts addressing related topics that are not mentioned explicitly are welcome.
