Betreff: [AISWorld] [CFP for ECIS 2018] - TRACK 26: Social Implications
of ICT Use
Datum: Thu, 16 Nov 2017 18:20:20 +0800
Von: Christy M K Cheung <ccheung(a)hkbu.edu.hk>
An: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org
CFP for ECIS 2018, Portsmouth, UK
TRACK 26: Social Implications of ICT Use
http://ecis2018.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/ECIS2018-Track26_SocialImpica…
Short description of the track
Recent years have witnessed an increasing integration of information and
communication technology (ICT) in our personal and professional lives,
transforming the way we work, study, play, and socialize. While the use of
ICT offers many personal, educational, and work benefits, an increasing
number of dark sides or undesirable consequences associated with the use of
ICT in individual, organizational, and social contexts emerges in academic
research and public discussion. ICT use raises a variety of social concerns
(like Internet addiction, cyber-bullying, online fraud, spreading of
rumors, invasion of privacy, and infringement of intellectual property
right).
The objective of this track is to develop theoretical insight and
understanding on topics and issues that address the potential social
implications of ICT use, with focus on the various negative aspects
associated with ICT use. We especially welcome papers that identifies and
addresses knowledge gaps in: (1) the nature of the problem under
investigation (i.e., ICT use and its associated negative social/ethical
implications), (2) factors contributing to the problem, and (3) potential
IT and/or non-IT solutions that can mitigate the problem. Other topics that
touch on social implications of ICT use are equally welcome as well. The
track is open to all methodological approaches. We invite both full
research and research in progress papers.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Societal impacts of current or emerging technologies or technological
trends, e.g., Internet of Things, Big Data mining, autonomous agents and
robots, 3D printing, quantum computing, affective systems, ambient
intelligence, collective intelligence, social/mobile computing, etc.
* Work stress, overload, addiction, financial victimization, and
illegitimate surveillance
* Reputation and credibility issues in ICT-based applications
* Responsible ICT innovation
* ICT-related unemployment and deskilling
* The role of ICT in social inclusion/exclusion and educational (in)equality
* Strategies and interventions (e.g., IT design, IT use practices, IT
management policies, and governance mechanisms) for addressing the societal
consequences of ICT use
* Incorporating societal concerns in IS ICT planning and governance
Journal Publishing Opportunities
High quality and relevant papers from this track will be selected for
fast-tracked development towards Internet Research (
http://www.emeraldinsight.com/loi/intr). Selected papers will need to
expand in content and length in line with the requirement for standard
research articles published in the journal. Although the track co-chairs
are committed to guiding the selected papers towards final publication,
further reviews may be needed before a final publication decision can be
made.
Internet Research (IntR) is an international and refereed journal that is
indexed and abstracted in major databases (e.g., SSCI, SCI, ABI/INFORM
Global). The topics published in IntR are broad and interdisciplinary in
nature. The 2016 impact factor of the journal is 2.931.
We invite you to submit a relevant paper to TRACK 26 Social Implications of
ICT use for ECIS2018!
Submission deadline for papers is November 27, 2017.
Your Track Co-Chairs,
Dr Helena Wenninger (primary contact), Lancaster University Management
School, UK, h.wenninger(a)lancaster.ac.uk
Prof Dr Christy M.K. Cheung, Hong Kong Baptist University
Prof Dr Bo Sophia Xiao, University of Hawaii at Manoa

=======================================================================
The Seventh International Workshop on
Load Testing and Benchmarking of Software Systems (LTB 2018)
Co-located with ICPE 2018
April 9 or 10, 2018
Berlin, Germany
http://ltb2018.eecs.yorku.ca/
=======================================================================
Software systems (e.g., smartphone apps, desktop applications, e-commerce
systems, IoT infrastructures, big data systems, and enterprise systems, etc.)
have strict requirements on software performance. Failure to meet these
requirements will cause customer dissatisfaction and negative news coverage. In
addition to conventional functional testing, the performance of these systems
must be verified through load testing or benchmarking to ensure quality
service. Load testing examines the behavior of a system by simulating hundreds
or thousands of users performing tasks at the same time. Benchmarking evaluates
a system's performance and allows to optimize system configurations or compare
the system with similar systems in the domain.
Load testing and benchmarking software systems are difficult tasks, which
require a great understanding of the system under test and customer behavior.
Practitioners face many challenges such as tooling (choosing and implementing
the testing tools), environments (software and hardware setup) and time
(limited time to design, test, and analyze). This one-day workshop brings
together software testing researchers, practitioners and tool developers to
discuss the challenges and opportunities of conducting research on load testing
and benchmarking software systems.
We solicit the following two tracks of submissions: technical papers (maximum 4
pages) and presentation track for industry or experience talks (maximum 700
words extended abstract). Technical papers should follow the standard ACM SIG
proceedings format and need to be submitted electronically via EasyChair
Extended abstracts need to be submitted as "abstract only" submissions via
EasyChair. Accepted technical papers will be published in the ICPE 2018
Proceedings. Materials from the presentation track will not be published in the
ICPE 2018 proceedings, but will be made available on the workshop website.
Submitted papers can be research papers, position papers, case studies or
experience reports addressing issues including but not limited to the
following:
- Efficient and cost-effective test executions
- Rapid and scalable analysis of the measurement results
- Case studies and experience reports on load testing and benchmarking
- Load testing and benchmarking on emerging systems (e.g., adaptive/autonomic
systems, big data batch and stream processing systems, and cloud services)
- Load testing and benchmarking in the context of agile software development
process
- Using performance models to support load testing and benchmarking
- Building and maintaining load testing and benchmarking as a service
- Efficient test data management for load testing and benchmarking

enterprises need to be able to continually innovate as fast as (or
faster than) their highly fluctuating environments and markets. However,
complexity of information representation and exploitation,
decision-making processes at multiple levels and their important often
unforeseen - effects, drastically impact enterprises agility and
innovation. How does Information Science currently influence the future
of enterprises and how can it influence it in a more efficient and
innovative way? What are the main strategic challenges? How can
Information Sciences strengthen and become an unavoidable and
fundamental pillar of the Enterprise of the Future?
RCIS welcomes submissions from a diverse spectrum: the list of themes
and topics includes, but is not limited to, the following themes and topics:

The nature and scope of the Information Security field has evolved over the
past several years. No longer are we just concerned with protecting the
technical edifice. Our emphasis has become more holistic and we tend to
consider all aspects of information protection as central to the field of
security. The Annual Security Conference provides a forum for discourses
in Security, Assurance and Privacy that will define the moment and provide
a useful basis for nurturing further dialogues.
Contributions in the form of research papers, panel proposals and case
studies are invited. All submissions are peer reviewed and considered for
publication in the Journal of Information System Security (
