These days, a car is not just for going from point A to point B, but rather delivers a holistic experience that revolves around our daily activities, with the future being the autonomous vehicle. Even though there has been considerable progress toward connected vehicle technologies, traffic and transportation, and cloud-based computing, major challenges remain in integrating these technologies into our society to create a seamless digital mobility lifestyle. This special issue of IT Professional intends to explore recent advances that address these challenges for connected and autonomous vehicles, providing a perspective of the current state of the art and the issues that need to be addressed to make connected and autonomous vehicles become mainstream for consumers. Therein responding to emerging opportunities and challenges in a timely manner. Nevertheless, the growth of data in volumes seems to out-speed the advance of the many established data managing and processing technologies. There are many forms of food-related data that are being collected on an enormous scale, ranging from a variety of chemical and nutritional data to recipe collections and social media postings. The food-based data sets have inherent characteristics that poses unique challenges to the field, for instance, categorizing an ingredient state (e.g., sliced, diced, raw, baked, grilled, or boiled) provides a unique challenge in attribute recognition one that is not well posed by existing datasets. Additionally, the free-form nature of food suggests a departure from the concrete task of classification in favor of a more nuanced objective that integrates variation in a recipe's structure. Data food also offers new perspectives on topical challenges in computer vision like finding representations that are robust to occlusion and deformation (such as occurring during ingredient processing) and that operate in a multimodal framework (e.g., image/text alignment). With the reality of big data comes the challenge of analysing and managing the data in a way that brings substantial value. In the food context, the appropriate data processing and management could expose new knowledge, indicate research directions, and lead to far-reaching changes in our understanding of food perception, healthy food habits, and culinary practice. This workshop thus targets this evolving research domain and focuses on its data aspects. The goal of the workshop is to provide concrete contributions in the analysis and design of models, methods, demonstration systems, and intelligent tools to support the data management of computational cooking. Authors are encouraged to submit both contributions devoted to computational cooking or also more generic models/frameworks for which intelligent food systems. Cooking Recipe data analytics could be considered as an application domain. Long papers (no longer than 6 pages): Both theoretical and practical research papers from both research and industrial communities addressing the main conference topic. For instance, we will consider contributions about DECOR application, case study, datasets. Â 2. Short papers (no longer than 4 pages): Position papers, open perspectives and challenging problems, or interesting discussion topics in the DECOR field are welcome. COST: FREE to all SIG members Submission Deadline: October 23, 2017 (extended October 27) The organizing committee for the SIG Cognitive Research Workshop invites research papers for its Thirteenth Annual meeting to be held VIRTUALLY. In addressing IS research questions, these papers are expected to use theories and methods from the cognitive and psychological sciences. This is a critical moment in time for us to rely on these other disciplines to complement IS research. WORKSHOP FORMAT The workshop is intended to serve as a showcase of leading cognitive research in information systems. There are no separate tracks or concurrent presentations. The format of the workshop is designed to enable open and constructive discussions of the research, in a spirit of collegial community-building. The workshop will run for half-day (tentatively 1-5 pm US time to be finalized based on submissions). Our business meeting will be held at the end of the workshop. EXTENDED ABSTRACTS This workshop is a forum to present and discuss papers to help authors publish their papers in top academic journals. To prevent copyright issues for subsequent publication, authors of accepted papers will be required to submit an extended abstract which will be distributed at the workshop and made available on the SIG website. The purpose of this extended abstract is to highlight key aspects of the papers presented for discussion. The abstract should include a synthesis of the theoretical background, methods and findings of the full paper. The extended abstract should not exceed 2 pages of single-spaced text including any tables, figures and references. This, among many other drivers, is fueling the assimilation of business intelligence and business analytics approaches within organizations across various industries as more and more data becomes available allowing for more detailed analyses. Business Analytics Management research explores organizational and technological advances to improve business performance in a continuous and iterative way. Business intelligence and business analytics approaches typically include ETL, OLAP as well as exploratory data analysis techniques to provide historical, current, and predictive views of the business. However, limited attention has been given to the individual’s perspective focusing on personal objectives and characteristics as enabling or suppressing factors to business intelligence and business analytics use. The big data challenge, fueled by increasing variety, volume, velocity, and veracity of data, bares large potential for research and practice by extending existing analytics beyond the traditional organizational borders. New phenomena or paradigm changes from the use of analytics approaches emerge the same way as other business models do. Furthermore, the availability of seemingly endless computing and cheaper storage capabilities available through the cloud computing enables new opportunities in providing a global gateway to information as a service. Motivated by the explosion of interest in these emerging fields, the Business Analytics Management and Applications track promotes multidisciplinary contributions dealing with managerial, economic, cultural, architectural, and technological perspectives on the management of business intelligence and business analytics technology as well as applications. Submissions based on theoretical research, design research, action research, or behavioral research are encouraged. We welcome full research papers, research in progress papers, and prototype papers.
