Betreff: CfP: 2nd Workshop on the Role of Real-World Objects in

CALL FOR PAPERS
2ND WORKSHOP ON THE ROLE OF REAL-WORLD OBJECTS IN BUSINESS PROCESS
MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (RW-BPMS 2016)
To be held in conjunction with EDOC 2016, 5h to 6th of September 2016,
Vienna, Austria
https://ai.wu.ac.at/rw-bpms2016/
SCOPE
The increased diffusion of sensors in the world has lead to the
possibility to monitor in detail the evolution of several real-world
objects of interest. GPS receivers, RFID chips, transponders, detectors,
cameras, satellites, etc. concur in the depiction of the current status
of monitored things. Therefore, the opportunity arose to connect
physical reality to digital information. The screening of real-world
objects makes indeed sensors the interface towards real-world
information, as they are the originators of machine-readable events. The
exploitation of such knowledge is leading to successful applications
such as Smart Cities, Flight Monitoring, Pollution Control, Internet of
Things, and Dynamic Manufacturing Networks.
The amount of information at hand would consent a fine-grained
monitoring, mining, and decision support for business processes,
stemming from the joint observation of business-related objects in the
real world. However, the main focus of process and data analysis in
Business Process Management (BPM) still lies at a high level of
abstraction, such as activities' status, and is based on
digital-to-digital information, such as information systems' data- and
activity-centric logs. Furthermore, a limited investigation from the BPM
community has been evinced towards the physical-to-digital bridge so
far. Such a bridge would be naturally provided by rethought information
systems, where the knowledge extracted from real-world objects would
best depict the contingencies and the context in which business
processes are carried out. At the same time, awareness of physical
reality for undertaken actions would allow for a better control over the
interaction that the Business Process Manag!
 ement Systems (BPMSs) have with the real world.
The objective of the RW-BPMS workshop is therefore to attract novel
research and industry approaches investigating the connection of
business processes with real-world objects monitoring. Conceptual,
technical and application-oriented contributions are pursued within the
scope of this theme.

Venue
The BMSD sessions will be held at Rodos Palace Convetion Center. Rodos Palace constitutes the finest deluxe resort complex on the beautiful Greek island of Rhodes, being ideally located within 4 km from the city of Rhodes. Once in the city, a visitor would be amazed at the diversity of attractions around: (i) Less than 3 km away is the Upper Acropolis of Ancient Rhodes, where are several important ancient monuments, including the temple of Pythian Appolo, the Theater, and the Stadium, all dating back to 2nd century B.C. (ii) Just in the city is the Medieval Town - there (inside the walls) live approximately 6000 residents who are lucky to enjoy the spirit of Rhodes unique history, reflected not only in the ruins of the Church of Our Lady of Chora but also in all monuments featuring different periods in the islands history, including the Byzantine period, the Roman period, the six centuries of the Knights of St. John, the Turkish occupation, the Italian liberation, the British presence, and so on. (iii) Next to the Medieval Town is Mandraki, the harbor of ancient Rhodes beyond which is the New Town, dominated by Kyprou Square, where are to be found some of the finest boutiques in Rhodes, jewellery stores, fabric shops, modern restaurants/cafes and nearly all the banks. (iv) At the same time, visitors may also enjoy some beautiful beaches around, including the two small beaches in the city and the 5 km of golden sand and crystal-clear waters of Faliraki which is less than 15 km away. Hence, the beautiful city of Rhodes is the ideal starting point in exploring this Paradise Island which is also known as the Emerald isle, the Isle of Dreams, the Isle of Roses, and which is associated with myths and legends. This for sure will stimulate participants for an inspiring and productive scientific event.

CALL FOR PAPERS
===============
21st EURAS Annual Standardisation Conference
'Co-opetition and Open Innovation'
29 June - 1 July 2016
Montpellier, France
Organised by
The European Academy for Standardisation (EURAS)
University of Montpellier
***Extended Deadline: 6 March 2016***
To survive and to create value in today's hypercompetitive and turbulent international business environment firms have to develop new approaches. Some of these approaches involve a certain level of co-operation with competitors. Even otherwise fierce competitors such as Samsung and Sony collaborated on a new LCD television standard and for some time the Symbian Foundation had Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola among its members. Today, companies like Airbus, Dassault and Safran Thales use collaboration platforms to foster innovation based on the contributions of the individual partners. Scholars have developed new concepts to describe, analyse and optimize these strategic inter-firm relations.
'Open innovation' describes a situation in which a firm collaborates with its customers, suppliers, distributors, institutional partners and even competitors to innovate. 'Co-opetition' refers to a strategy where firms collaborate with competitors. In both cases, standards frequently play a crucial role. For one, they define inter-firm process, common interfaces and languages. More interestingly, to influence or even control standards in a certain field may well be the sole reason for co-opetition. In standards setting (potential) competitors, allies and third parties share knowledge to contribute to a new standard. From the perspective of Co-opetition and Open Innovation this environment offers a wide variety of aspects for standardisation researchers. These range from e.g. the role of standards in (multi-)national regulation, in technology and innovation management and in business strategy via knowledge and IPR management to conflict management and the theory of social capital.
EURAS 2016 solicits papers on the above theme. However, papers on other standardisation topics will also be considered. Sample topics include:
* Co-opetition and standards
* Open innovation and standards
* Standardisation as a policy tool
* Standards and barriers to trade
* National or international policy and standardisation
* Standardisation and Europe's research and innovation agenda
* Relationship between standardisation and legislation
* Standards as a driver for innovation
* Standards and conformity assessment
* Standardisation and IPR
* Standards and knowledge transfer
* The impact of standards and standardisation
* Quality of standards
* Role of industry and their associations in standardisation
* Standardisation via industry consortia
* History of standardisation
* Standardisation processes
Full papers (up to 30 double spaced pages; rtf. .doc or .docx format) should be submitted to Kai Jakobs at Kai.Jakobs(a)cs.rwth-aachen.de.
All papers will be double blind reviewed by members of the Programme Committee. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, as part of the 'EURAS Contributions to Standardisation Research' book series. Particularly good papers will be fast-tracked to the Int. Journal of IT Standards and Standardization Research or to a special issue of the Int. Betreff: [wkwi] CfP - HMD Praxis der Wirtschaftsinformatik: Human
Capital Management
Datum: Mon, 29 Feb 2016 09:12:47 +0100 (CET)
Von: Strahringer, Susanne <susanne.strahringer(a)tu-dresden.de>
Antwort an: postmaster(a)seda.wiai.uni-bamberg.de
*Call for Papers
*Zeitschrift: HMD Praxis der Wirtschaftsinformatik
(http://www.springer.com/hmd <http://www.springer.com/hmd/>)
Schwerpunktheft Dezember 2016 (HMD 312): *Human Capital Management
Vorschau:
*Dass Mitarbeiter einen Wert darstellen, in den es sich zu investieren
lohnt, wissen viele Unternehmen schon lange. Aber handeln sie auch
danach? Ist der Wandel von der reinen Ressourcenverwaltung hin zum so
genannten Human Capital Management (HCM) vollzogen?
Auch die Wirtschaftsinformatik versucht in diesem Entwicklungsprozess
durch Softwarewerkzeuge und Applikationen, passende Betreiber- und
Governance-Modelle sowie intelligente Datennutzung einen Beitrag zu
leisten.
HCM-IT-Projekten.
Mögliche Themenstellungen des Schwerpunktheftes sind u.a.:
* HCM-Funktionalitäten (z.B. Wertbeitrag, Nutzungsbarrieren,
Nutzungserfahrungen etc.)
* HR-IT-Strategie (z.B. Notwendigkeit einer solchen)
* HCM-IT-Projekte (z.B. Besonderheiten im Vergleich zu anderen Domänen)
* HR Cloud Services (z.B. Eignung, Akzeptanz, Einbindung in
on-Premise-Lösungen)
* Applikationsgovernance
* HCM Analytics
* Employee Self Services
* eRecruiting
* Workforce on Demand
* Praxisbeispiele, Fallstudien, Prototypen in den genannten Feldern
*Themenvorschläge:
*Bitte wenden Sie sich vor einer Einreichung mit Vorschlägen (Thema,
kurzes Abstract) an die Herausgeberin des Heftes.
*Termine und Fristen:
*Einreichung von Vorschlägen bis spätestens: 2. April 2016 (gerne auch
früher)
Abgabetermin fertiger Beiträge bis spätestens: 15. Juni 2016
Überarbeitung durch Autoren: voraussichtlich im August 2016
(nach Eingang der Gutachten)
Erscheinungstermin: Dezember 2016
