incorporated into modeling tools?
Topics in focus are procedures and architectural principles related to
the creation of software for presenting, editing, transforming, or
analyzing models. This covers principles especially related to the use
of models and modeling languages, for example, the ability to
automatically derive model editor functionality from formal
specifications of modeling languages (meta-models, grammars, etc.). In
addition, design principles and implementation options for modeling
tools, such as alternative ways to display graphical models, or novel
user interaction metaphors, are discussed. Intended audience are
scientists and practitioners, who apply modeling techniques and
model-driven procedures, and develop their own modeling tools.

Betreff: [AISWorld] Call for papers: JTAER special issue on Ubiquitous
Media Systems
Datum: Sat, 28 Mar 2015 09:27:49 +0000
Von: Stefano Za <sza(a)luiss.it>

********* Apologies for cross-posting ***********
Call for Papers: UBIQUITOUS MEDIA SYSTEMS
SPECIAL ISSUE of the JOURNAL OF THEORETICAL AND APPLIED ELECTRONIC COMMERCE RESEARCH (JTAER)
Guest Editors: Eusebio Scornavacca, Stefano Za, Kevin Carillo
The Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research is planning a special issue on Ubiquitous Media Systems.
As of 2014, the total number of all types of mobile-connected devices has exceeded the world's population and is forecasted to reach 1.5 devices per human being in 2019 [1]. The pace of the emergence and mainstream adoption of new forms of ubiquitous computing devices such as smartphones, tablets and 'phablets' has not ceased gaining momentum - demarking an evolutionary step in the ubiquitous computing trend [2]. The extinction of mobile phones and the proliferation of fluid multi-device platforms such as iOS, Android and Windows 8 have blurred the traditional boundaries between stationary and mobile information systems [3], [4].
This dissolution of the traditional segmentation of computing contexts represents a remarkable shift in the fundamental temporospatial nature of IT artifacts [5], [6]. Indeed, individuals are gradually ceasing to perceive their mobile and non-mobile devices as independent ecosystems, but rather as an evolving collection of interconnected devices that are progressively playing a major role in their daily lives [7], [8]. This significant technological evolution has given birth to a new and complex form of connected IT artifact, Ubiquitous Media Systems (UMS), that encapsulates various functions and provides fluid information access across a variety of channels; allowing users to accomplish a multitude of tasks and interact fluidly in a ubiquitous ecosystem [4].
As information access becomes fully ubiquitous and the utilitarian, as well as hedonic functionalities of those devices increase, the emergence of fluid and evolving techno-ecosystems poses important challenges and opportunities for ecommerce theory and practice. By gradually blurring physical, social and temporal boundaries ubiquitous media systems allow to deliver new as well as existing online products and services through a multitude of interconnected channels, but also engender radically novel and unthought-of opportunities for e-commerce [9]-[11].
Ubiquitous access to the Internet of things also represents new marketing opportunities for businesses as well as the challenge to deeply understand users' behavior in this fluid digital ecosystem [12]. Apprehending ubiquitous media systems user behavior is a difficult challenge as the rules that govern its functioning keep being redefined each time a new form of connected device appears on the market [13], [14].
Unfortunately, the understanding of the specificities that surround ubiquitous media systems in the electronic and mobile commerce contexts is also limited in information systems research [15], [16]. There is a general tendency to focus on individual or subsets of devices, functionalities, or sub-phenomena, which leads to a fragmented and distorted understanding of the ubiquitous media systems reality [17], [18]. This new, complex, interconnected and amalgamated form of IT artifact requires a more holistic and encompassing research approach that is capable of capturing the specificities and pervasiveness of ubiquitous media systems.
SUBJECT COVERAGE
The objective of this Special Issue is to present the current state of research and practical experiences on ubiquitous media systems from the perspective of electronic commerce research. Particularly we welcome interdisciplinary research that is able to connect theory and practice; aiming to break the traditional conceptual research boundaries dividing stationary and mobile systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Usability of ubiquitous media systems
2. System fluidity - seamless access across multiple devices
3. The impact of ubiquitous environments on productivity
4. Legal, social ethical issues regarding ubiquitous media systems
5. Multi-channel ecommerce applications and strategy
6. Trust, loyalty, and privacy issues in ubiquitous media systems
7. Security in ubiquitous media systems
8. Ubiquitous media systems and new business models
9. Challenges and specificities for payment systems
10. Big data and ubiquitous media systems
NOTES FOR INTENDING AUTHORS
We are seeking original, innovative, and scientifically rigorous papers presenting practical experiences, methodological challenges, or impacts of ubiquitous media systems. Especially empirical research, case studies or theory based qualitative and quantitative studies, are welcome.
Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Author guidelines can be found at http://www.jtaer.com/author_guidelines.doc. All submissions will be refereed by at least three reviewers. Submissions should be directed by email to jtaer.ums(a)utalca.cl.

HT2015, Call for Papers for Main Research Tracks
26th ACM Conference on Hypertext and Social Media
2-4 September 2015 Cyprus
http://ht.acm.org/ht2015/
-- Important Dates
03 April 2015: Research paper submission deadline
12 June 2015: Workshop papers and Doctoral Consortium papers deadline
29 May 2015: Research paper notifications
19 June 2015: Camera ready deadline
10 July 2015: Workshop papers and DC paper notifications
--- Conference Scope ---
The ACM Conference on Hypertext and Social Media conference (HT) is a
premium venue for high quality peer-reviewed research on theory, systems
and applications for hypertext and social media. It is concerned with
all aspects of modern hypertext research, including social media,
adaptation and personalization, user modeling, linked data and semantic
web, dynamic and computed hypertext, and its application in digital
humanities.
HT2015 will focus on the role of hypertext and hyperlink theory on the
web and beyond, as a foundation for approaches and practices in the
wider community. Therefore, HT2015 has the following tracks:
* Digital Connectivity
* Data Connectivity
* Digital Humanities
--- Track DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY —
http://ht.acm.org/ht2015/callforpapers.html
In modern Web environments hypermedia content is increasingly generated,
processed, filtered, adjusted, and personalized. Online social networks
further generalize the conventional notion of the hypermedia to imply
connections between users via their content and media. Making sense of
these complex processes has attracted significant attention in various
research disciplines.
The Digital Connectivity track targets developing deeper insights into
the mechanisms of information generation and dissemination,
characterization of evolutionary processes on online social networks,
studies of models and systems that support these processes, and the
broader implications of these for organizations and society. The track
provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange
information regarding advancements in the current state of art.
Addressing problems in the Digital Connectivity space necessitates
expertise in several domains: Computer and Information Science, Social
Sciences, Psychology, and Economics. Hence submissions of
inter-disciplinary works are highly encouraged. We also welcome works
that explore how Digital Connectivity can be applied in diverse domains,
such as Education, Health, Journalism, Government, Environment, and Media.
Track Chairs:
Shlomo Berkovsky, CSIRO, Australia
Markel Vigo, University of Manchester, UK
— Track DATA CONNECTIVITY —
http://ht.acm.org/ht2015/callforpapers.html#dataconnectivity
The need to make data available on the Web using formats and protocols
that make them easier to consume by potential data reusers has been
widely recognized and accepted by data owners. This is especially the
case with Open Government Data initiatives, although this need has also
arisen and dealt with in areas such as Culture, Journalism, Science,
etc. Besides the obvious method of placing isolated datasets as files on
Web servers, probably with some simple metadata associated to them,
several other alternative methods have been proposed for making
different types of data available on the Web: Linked Data, CSV on the
Web, REST APIs, etc. Once these are available, they can be used inside
data value chains to generate more added-value data, data-intensive
applications, etc.
This track deals with the methods, techniques and technologies that can
be used to make data available on the Web, with a special focus on how
heterogeneous data sources can be connected to each other, hence
breaking data silos on the Web. We are not only focused on using Linked
Data approaches, which sit naturally for this purpose, but also on any
other alternative approaches that may allow for such data publishing,
description and interlinking. In fact, we welcome submissions that
address any of the steps of the data-on-the-Web lifecycle, including the
creation, interlinking, entity and relation extraction, semantic
annotation, analysis and modeling, dynamics and evolution, and
applications of connected data on the Web.
Track Chairs:
Oscar Corcho, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and LocaliData, Spain
Erjia Yan, Drexel University, USA
-- Track DIGITAL HUMANITIES —
http://ht.acm.org/ht2015/callforpapers.html#digitalhumanities
With its wide-spread adoption, the World Wide Web has become a highly
detailed yet biased reflection of human social behavior. The web in
general and social media in particular have become attractive textual
and non-textual data sources that potentially capture aspects of how
people think/feel/behave in social situations (social psychology),
relate to each other (sociology), govern themselves (political science),
handle wealth (socioeconomics), or create culture (anthropology). While
these phenomena have received attention from different communities,
understanding human social behavior via unobtrusive methods (i.e.
methods where the researcher doesn’t intrude into the research context)
remains a challenging endeavor and an open problem. Tackling these
challenges requires the development of new methods, instruments and
techniques as well as an interdisciplinary effort from researchers
across disciplines.
In this track, we seek submissions contributing to studies of the web
from an interdisciplinary perspective. In particular, we are seeking to
attract work on the intersection between computer science on one hand,
and the humanities and social sciences on the other.
Track Chairs:
Jacco van Ossenbruggen, Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) & VU
University, The Netherlands
Markus Strohmaier, GESIS / University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany
--- SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT
ACM SIGWEB is kindly offering a total of US$7000 in funding for Student
Travel Awards. These awards are intended for student authors who have
papers accepted in any of the tracks (full papers, short papers,
posters, demos) as well as participants of the Doctoral Consortium and
who attend the conference and personally present their research. SIGWEB
Student Travel Awards typically range in value from $250 to $750.
Student awards are intended to cover a portion only of the student’s
overall expenses. The sizes of the awards in general will depend on the
number of qualified applicants, and the amount of individual awards may
vary depending on the distance travelled and the kind and ranking of the
papers.

Call for Submissions
Special Issue of the
ACM Transactions on Interactive Intelligent Systems
on BIG PERSONAL DATA IN INTERACTIVE INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS
Main submission deadline: July 14th, 2015
http://tiis.acm.org/special-issues.html
AIMS AND SCOPE
Increasingly vast amounts of data about people's interaction with
the social and physical world are generated when people use
social media, personal tracking devices, and the internet of
things. How can big personal data be collected, analyzed, and
exploited so as to provide new or improved forms of interaction
with intelligent systems; and what new issues have to be taken
into account?
The question of how to process big personal data is challenging
because of their sheer quantity, their heterogeneous and
sometimes contradictory nature, and the large semantic distance
between the data and the conclusions that can be drawn from them.
Big personal data can serve users in various novel ways, but the
question of what goals to pursue and how to pursue them is
open-ended and not easy to answer.
Exploiting big personal data in interactive systems raises a
range of questions concerning usability and acceptance, ranging
from privacy issues to those of system comprehensibility and
controllability.
This special issue aims to publish the best current work on
questions like these, not only presenting technical solutions but
also discussing explicitly the consequences of these solutions
for users of interactive intelligent systems, from both a design
and an engineering point of view.
TOPIC DIMENSIONS
The following topic dimensions indicate the range of work that is
relevant to the special issue. Each dimension is a question that
can be asked about a possible submission to the special issue,
accompanied by several possible answers to that question. A
manuscript is probably relevant to the special issue if you can
give meaningful answers to most of these questions (including
possibly answers that are not listed here).
What is the origin of the big personal data considered in this
work?
- Users' behavior on social media sites
- Users' traces (e.g., comments) and microtraces (e.g., likes)
left on the web
- People's use of wearable monitoring devices
- Users' interaction with objects that are part of the internet
of things
- ...
What benefits of big personal data processing for end users are
considered in this work?
- Support for users' choice and decision making
- New forms of personalization
- Prediction of user trajectories (e.g., with regard to career,
health, or activities)
- Novel services (e.g., concerning smart buildings or intelligent
transportation systems) that require big personal data
- ...
What issues of usability and acceptance are considered?
- Users' understanding of how big personal data are processed
- Predictability and comprehensibility of interactive system
behavior
- New forms of privacy threat
- Suitability of novel input methods for collecting big personal
data
- Suitability of methods for visualizing big personal data
- ...
What user-related challenges in terms of computing technology are
addressed?
- How to combine historical and streaming big personal data
- How to personalize the collection and storage of big personal
data
- How to capture the semantics of big personal data
- ...

Security is a widespread and growing concern that covers all areas of
society: business, domestic, financial, government, and so on. In fact,
the so-called information society is increasingly dependent on a wide
range of information systems whose mission is critical, such as air
traffic control systems, financial systems, or public health systems.
The potential losses that are faced by businesses and organizations that
rely on all these systems, both hardware and software, therefore signify
that it is crucial for information systems to be properly secured from
the outset.
This Special Issue of the Computers & Security Journal aims to serve as
a forum in which to unite academics, researchers, practitioners and
students in the field of security engineering and security software
engineering.
