Software Reliability Engineering (ISSRE 2014)
http://www.issre.net
Naples, Italy
November 3 - 6, 2014
--------------------------------------------------------------
Important dates:
* Research Paper Abstract Submission: May 23th, 2014, 11:59PM (EST)
* Full Research Paper Submission: May 30th, 2014, 11:59PM (EST)
* Notification: August 6th, 2014
* Camera Ready: Early September, 2014
Website:
http://www.issre.net/cfp-research
The 25th annual International Symposium on Software
Reliability Engineering (ISSRE 2014) is focused on innovative
techniques and tools for assessing, predicting, and improving
the reliability, safety, and security of software products.
ISSRE also emphasizes industrial relevance, rigorous empirical
studies and experience reports.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Reliability, availability, and safety of software systems
* Verification and validation
* Software quality
* Software security
* Fault tolerance, survivability, and resilience of software
systems
* Dependability, survivability, and resilience of software
systems
* Systems (hardware + software) reliability engineering
* Services reliability engineering (cloud services, problem
reporting services, etc.)
* Metrics and measurements, estimation, prediction of
quality/reliability
* Supporting tools and automation
* Industry best practices
* Software at large scales and software on small devices
The main research track at ISSRE 2014 is soliciting original,
unpublished research papers in three categories:
(1) full research (regular) papers, (2) practical experience
reports, and (3) wild and provocative ideas (WAPI) papers.
This year we are soliciting papers in a new track called
``Wild and Provocative Ideas'' (WAPI). These are short papers
and the accepted papers will get 15 minute presentation + 15
minutes Q&A slots. The aim of these papers is to promote
revolutionary and way-out ideas that do not fit the
conventional mold, that inspire discussion among conference
attendees, and that get people thinking of open research
challenges. Research that incrementally improves on prior
work is not suited for this category. Unlike an ISSRE research
manuscript that explores a specific technology problem and
proposes a complete solution to it, with extensive
experimental results, a WAPI paper will present less developed
but highly innovative ideas related to areas relevant to
ISSRE.
There will be a best paper award given to a paper in this
main research track.
Manuscript page lengths (All in double column, IEEE
conference style format):
* Research papers: 10 pages + 2 pages for references
* Experience reports: 10 pages + 2 pages for references
(the 10 page limit should allow for material such as
detailed description of testbed, datasets, specification
documents, etc. in the submission)
* WAPI papers: 3 pages + 2 pages for references

Submission deadline: 16th April, 2014
Notification to authors: 16th May, 2014
Camera ready: 5th June, 2014
=============================================
Digital libraries are becoming increasingly important in research.
Traditionally they have been used for tasks such as finding and storing
research outputs, however they are increasingly being used as sources
for mining information, discovering new trends and evaluating research
excellence. The rapid growth in the number of documents being deposited
in digital libraries requires the provision for novel approaches that
are driven by the needs of knowledge discovery, refinement, and
visualisation, aimed at enhancing the individual’s experience.
The foundations of such an experience are not built upon digitisation
alone, but on a multi-layer knowledge structure that does not only
include information about the documents in the underlying collection in
the form of metadata, but also information about the content of those
documents, such as the entities mentioned and the relationships between
them. It is with these building blocks that it will become possible to
relate search results with user needs, for instance by the automatic
generation of different views that integrate and personalise information
items together which can than be exploited by novel interfaces and
visualisation techniques.
The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum for researchers and
practitioners from the fields of digital libraries, natural language
processing, information retrieval, user interfaces, the semantic web and
other disciplines, where they can constructively explore and discuss the
conception and realisation of systems incorporating such novelties.
Some of the research themes that this workshop aims to address include,
but are not limited to:
1.
The development of appropriate representations and techniques for
the automatic or semi-automatic extraction of metadata from source
documents;
2.
The automatic identification of entities, in large volumes of
documents, and the relationships between these entities;
3.
The provision of services and applications capable of linking and
contextualizing content across large volumes of documents;
4.
The facilitation of search and navigation through innovative user
interfaces and visualisations;
5.
The design of usable and useful interactive systems for digital
libraries;
6.
The evaluation of different solutions to the above through effective
usability studies using existing collections of documents.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following themes
related to Digital Libraries:

CALL FOR PAPERS
*********************************************************************
1st ACM Workshop on Moving Target Defense (MTD 2014)
Scottsdale, Arizona, USA -- November 3, 2014
in conjunction with the 21st ACM Conference on Computer
and Communications Security (CCS)
http://csis.gmu.edu/MTD2014
*********************************************************************
The static nature of current computing systems has made them easy to
attack and harder to defend. Adversaries have an asymmetric advantage
in that they have the time to study a system, identify its
vulnerabilities, and choose the time and place of attack to gain the
maximum benefit. The idea of moving-target defense (MTD) is to impose
the same asymmetric disadvantage on the attacker by making systems
dynamic and harder to predict. With a constantly changing system and
its ever adapting attack surface, the attacker will have to deal with
a great deal of uncertainty just like defenders do today. The
ultimate goal is to level the cybersecurity playing field for
defenders versus attackers.
This workshop seeks to bring together researchers from academia,
government, and industry to report on the latest research efforts
on moving-target defense, and to have productive discussion and
constructive debate on this topic. We solicit submissions on original
research in the broad area of MTD, with possible topics such as those
listed below. Since this is still a research area in a nascent stage,
the list should only be used as a reference. We welcome all works
that fall under the broad scope of moving target defense, including
research that shows negative results.
- System randomization
- Artificial diversity
- Cyber maneuver
- Bio-inspired defenses
- Dynamic network configuration
- Moving target in the cloud
- System diversification techniques
- Dynamic compilation techniques
- Adaptive defenses
- Analytical models for MTD
- Large-scale MTD (using multiple techniques)
- ...

Call for Papers
Workshop on Privacy-Preserving Cyberspace Safety and Security. Paris, August 20th 2014
Main conference: http://conference.css2014.studiocheik.fr/
Workshop: http://www.uni-saarland.de/lehrstuhl/sorge/workshops/workshop-on-privacy-pr…
The workshop is held in conjunction with The 6th Symposium on Cyberspace Safety and Security (CSS 2014). In dependence on the main conference that
seeks research submissions on a safe and secure cyberspace, the workshop puts its focus on privacy protection in such an environment. While achieving
cyberspace safety and security, deploying defense systems, and deterring potential attacks are already demanding tasks, coming up with methods to do
that in a privacy-preserving way is even more challenging. The aim of this workshop is to foster research efforts to combine those (contradicting)
worlds and to present new methods that lie in between that area of conflict. Thus, the scope and interests are also closely related to those of the
main conference (but are not limited to):
- Data and Applications Security
- Network and Communications Security
- Software and Systems Security
- Cloud Security
All of those areas of interest still require research efforts on privacy protection and the implications of safety and security mechanisms for the
cyberspace need to be investigated as well – from a technical as well as from a legal and a social perspective. Thus, we are seeking for submissions
presenting novel results from researchers of different disciplines like practical and theoretical computer sciences, legal research, etc.
Important Dates:
- Paper submission deadline: May, 31st, 2014
- Notification of acceptance: June, 30th, 2014
- Camera ready due: July, 15th 2014
Paper Submission:
Papers should be written in English conforming to the IEEE conference proceedings format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should be submitted through
the paper submission system at the main conference website. Full Papers (up to 8 pages, or 12 pages with the over length charge) and Short Papers (up
to 4 pages) are solicited.
All submissions will be peer-reviewed by at least two reviewers. The accepted papers from this workshop will be submitted for publication by IEEE
Computer Society in IEEE proceedings and submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases (indexed
by EI Compendex). Distinguished papers, after further revisions, will be considered for possible publication in several SCI & EI indexed special
issues of prestigious international journals. By submitting a paper to the workshop, authors assure that if the paper is accepted, at least one author
will attend the workshop and present the paper.

==================================================================
MOTIVATION
===========
The workshop follows the previous SPeL 2008, SPeL 2009, SPeL 2010, SPeL
2011, DULP & SPeL 2012 and SPeL 2013 workshops, held in conjunction with
the SAINT 2008 conference, WI/IAT 2009 conference, DEXA 2010 conference,
ICWL 2011 conference, ICALT 2012 conference and ICSTCC 2013 conference

computing for web-supported learning communities.
Web-based learning is moving from centralized, institution-based systems
to a decentralized and informal creation and sharing of knowledge. Social
software (e.g., blogs, wikis, social bookmarking systems, media sharing
services) is increasingly being used for e-learning purposes, helping to
create novel learning experiences and knowledge. In the world of pervasive
Internet, learners are also evolving: the so-called "digital natives" want
to be in constant communication with their peers, they expect an
individualized instruction and a personalized learning environment, which
automatically adapt to their individual needs. The challenge in this
context is to provide intelligent and adaptive support for collaborative
learning, taking into consideration the individual differences between
learners.
This workshop deals with current research on collaboration and
personalization issues in Web-supported learning communities, leading
towards the creation of a truly social and adaptive learning environment.
Its aim is to provide a forum for discussing new trends and initiatives in
this area, including research about the planning, development,
application, and evaluation of intelligent e-learning systems, where
people can learn together in a personalized way through social interaction
with other learners.

http://www.cscw.uni-siegen.de/muc2014/
======================================================================
