+++ TRACK DESCRIPTION +++
During the last twenty years or so, organizations have strived to become
more process-oriented and also more co-creative when delivering value in
terms of services and products to their customers. A fundamental principle
of both process orientation and value co-creation is to span boundaries
within and across organizations. For boundary spanning, organizations,
employees and customers (or people in general) rely on information systems
as well as related techniques, models and methods.
In today's world, boundaries are becoming increasingly dynamic. On the one
hand, inter- and intra-organizational boundaries blur as people engage with
each other in social media or other virtual communities. Organizations
utilize web-based platforms with externals, e.g., in order to gather ideas
for innovations from their customers and to streamline operations with
business partners. Looking at the internal of the organization, employees
are expected to participate actively in business process management (e.g.,
in terms of Social BPM), knowledge management and organizational learning in
order to create customer value and, of course, increased corporate revenue.
On the other hand, new boundaries can also emerge through the use of
information systems in the process of creating customer value. Reasons for
this are manifold, including digital connections that do not work
instantaneously due to incompatible information systems, work practices that
are not synchronized, and diverging organizational cultures.
This mini-track intends to serve as a platform for research on the
intersections between business process management, knowledge management and
organizational learning, taking a boundary spanning perspective. We invite
contributions from various disciplines including information systems,
information management, organization, science, computer science and
management science. Interdisciplinary research that connects the
aforementioned areas is also welcome. We encourage papers applying a wide
variety of methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative, empirical
and theoretical research such as case studies, action research, surveys,
experiments, and design science.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

*******************************************************************************************
11^th Intl. Conf. on Open Source Systems (OSS2015)
co-located with the 2015 International Conference on Software
Engineering (ICSE2015)
Florence, Italy -- 16-17 May 2015
http://www.oss2015.org
*******************************************************************************************
*** Theme: Open Frameworks: from Service to Cloud ***
Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) has had a disruptive effect on the
commercial software industry and the ways that organizations and
individuals create, distribute, acquire and use software and
software-based services. In addition to the many standalone FOSS
projects, FOSS is at the heart of modern network-based computing
infrastructures and can be found in the vast majority of applications
that run in these environments.
Many organizations that have been known for developing proprietary
software are now actively involved with FOSS. FOSS adoption continues to
grow among businesses, governments, and other organizations. FOSS
remains important for educators and researchers, as well as an important
aspect of e-government and information society initiatives, providing
access to high-quality software and the code used to create it.
Also, FOSS has taken the lead in a number of crucial ICT domains, like
Cloud Computing, where open source cloud stacks are widely adopted, and
Big Data, where a wealth of FOSS solutions is now being built around Hadoop.
The 11th International Conference on Open Source Systems (OSS 2015) will
celebrate a decade of advances in the use of free and open source
software by emphasizing areas and topics that will drive future use over
the next decade. This will be achieved through a combination of
high-quality research papers, tutorials, workshops, demonstrations, and
invited talks. OSS2015 will be co-located with the 2015 International
Conference on Software Engineering as a way to cross-fertilize ideas.
The theme for the 2015 edition will be "Open frameworks: from service to
cloud", putting forward the idea on how open source framework can
develop the transition from traditional IT services to cloud-based
architectures.
A central goal of OSS 2015 is to provide an international forum where a
diverse community of professionals from academia, industry, the public
sector, and diverse FOSS initiatives can come together to share research
findings and practical experiences. The conference also aims to serve as
a meeting place where people can identify new research ideas and
techniques for putting FOSS into widespread use.
OSS 2015 will include research papers, industry papers, formal tool
demonstrations, lightning talks, new ideas, experience reports, and
posters. OSS 2015 also invites proposals for tutorials and workshops,
submissions to the doctoral symposium, and submissions of panel proposals.
Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings, which
are published by Springer.

CALL FOR PAPERS
AMCIS 2015
El Conquistador Resort, Puerto Rico
August 13-15, 2015
Mini-track: Information Systems for Sustainable Business Activities and Supply Chains
Track: Green IS and Sustainability (SIGGreen)
Sustainability has increasingly become important to business research and practice over the past decades as a result of rapid depletion of natural resources and concerns over wealth disparity and corporate social responsibility. Sustainability research and practices have recognized that business performance should be evaluated based on its impacts on the environment and interested stakeholders besides profitability, known as the triple bottom line (TBL). Companies have increasingly recognized that business strategy that boldly embrace sustainability have resulted in companies’ being successful in delivering financial, environmental, and social values to themselves as well as related stakeholders.
In order to develop capabilities to address TBL issues, businesses need to engage in wide ranging activities such as changing business culture, redesigning business processes, etc. More importantly, research as well as management practice have illustrated that to be truly sustainable, companies should take a holistic approach that includes participation of multiple business functions, and should not only focus on their own business operations but also focus on improving sustainable business practices across the supply chain.
Given the recognized role of IT resources in enabling business capabilities within and across supply chain partners, it is arguable that IT resources should be critical in enabling firms to develop capabilities to address sustainability issues both within firms and across their supply chain through coordination with supply chain partners. We invite research from different business areas, including MIS, management, supply chain and operation management, and particularly inter-disciplinary research that examines the role of IT resources in conjunction with other business resources in enabling firms to develop sustainability strategy that address all aspects of the triple bottom line, both within firms and across supply chain partners. Topics of interest include, but not limited to:
- IS in enabling sustainable innovation
- Intertwining of environmentally and socially sustainable practices
- IS in enabling environmentally and socially sustainable operations
- IS in enabling supply chain partners’ coordination for sustainability
- Sustainability vision within and across firms
- The role of IS in enabling the assessment of sustainability performance within firms and across supply chains
