20th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS)
Track: Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management
Minitrack: Knowledge Management Success, Value, and Performance Measurement
Savannah, GA Â? August 7-10, 2014
http://amcis2014.aisnet.org/
================================================================
Research into knowledge management (KM), organizational memories,
and organizational learning has been affected by investigations such
as implementation aspects, system developments, or knowledge flows
during a number of years. Therefore, a high maturity level of KM
research has been achieved. However, organizational KM initiatives
are more and more faced with budget cuts and justification demands
due to intense competition in todayâ??s business environments. The
influences of the rapid pace of globalization and of the ongoing
liberalization of national and international markets lead to the
emergence of increased pressure on existing companies. Project
managers of KM initiatives like Chief Knowledge Officers need to
justify their budgets and thus are in need of qualitative and
quantitative evidence of the initiativesâ?? success. In addition,
ROI calculations and traditional accounting approaches do not tell
an adequate story when proposing knowledge-based initiatives. This
minitrack explores research into strategies, methodologies, and
stories that relate to measure this success. In addition, this
minitrack will be used to explore the bodies of performance
measurements that define the current state of research in measuring
KM, organizational memory, and organizational learning success.
Eventually, another purpose of this minitrack is to present research
on how to value knowledge-based initiatives.
Possible topics for papers in this minitrack are:
·Frameworks and models for assessing knowledge management and/or
organizational memory systems
·Methodologies and processes for measuring knowledge management
and/or organizational memory success and performance
·Impact of knowledge management strategy, organization, systems,
culture, and other issues on knowledge management/organizational
memory success
·Organizational effectiveness/efficiency due to knowledge
management/organizational memory/organizational learning, knowledge
and organizational memory use
·Knowledge management, organizational memory, and organizational
learning metrics
·Knowledge management, organizational memory, and organizational
learning success factors and key performance indicators
·Benchmarking of knowledge management/organizational memory initiatives
·Case studies of knowledge management and organizational memory
success and performance measurements
·Measuring knowledge management and/or organizational memory
performance in global organizations and globally dispersed communities
·Effectiveness and/or efficiency of knowledge
management/organizational memory systems
·Modeling and measuring the impact of social software on knowledge
management performance
·Defining knowledge management and organizational memory success
·Rigorous anecdotes and user stories and their theoretical basis to
facilitate the value of knowledge-based initiatives
·Developing grounded theory approaches to valuing knowledge-based
initiatives
We welcome original research papers regardless of decision domain,
decision process, or research methodology. Since related problems
have been studied in numerous problem domains and diverse scientific
disciplines, we encourage authors to explore this rich literature
and benefit from it.

CALL FOR PAPERS
About the Conference
Future mobile networks will evolve out of existing wired and wireless networks of different nature by means of convergence, fusion and mutual penetration; next-generation multimedia services in turn pose new requirements and challenges on treatment of traffic within communication systems - a certain degree of multilayer co-operation has to be achieved. This forms a framework on harmonization of results obtained separately in different areas of network research like network performance evaluation, architecture and protocol design, and low layer network design. The conference goal is in the identification, investigation and integration of new algorithms, approaches, architectures, methods and mechanisms to enable proper and efficient operation of a next-generation IP-based wireless network. Therefore, wireless networks and systems and their interaction with wired networks and systems shall be widely examined and addressed throughout the conference.
The history of NEW2AN dates back to 1993, today it is an established conference featured by proceedings published by Springer LNCS (confirmed) and distinguished keynote speakers.
The NEW2AN 2014 will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia - the meeting point of East and West. Through its stunning architecture and wonderful art galleries and museums, among a number of other attractions, the wealth of history of East and West can be seen and felt in this beautiful city.

Computing, Cloud Computing, and many more.
Besides regular research papers, authors may submit industry papers,
clearly marked as such. An industry paper reports work from within a
context of BPM practice, typically studying requirements imposed by
current practice, identifying new problems, or reporting experience on
the deployment of methods, solutions, tools or systems in practice.
Industry submissions undergo the same review process as regular
research papers and are requested to meet the same high quality
standards for originality, clarity of the contribution, and relevance
to the community. However the review of an industry paper puts more
emphasis to the value of new insights into current practice and less
emphasis to the technical depth and scientific methodology compared
to regular research papers.
BPM 2014 will take place in Haifa, Israel's beautiful seaport on the
Mediterranean. Haifa is situated on the Carmel Mountain, overlooking
the Haifa bay and the mountains of Galilee, and has panoramic views as
well as beautiful sandy beaches. Haifa is also an industrial center,
housing the R&D labs of international corporations. Israel's rich
history and cultural heritage attracts millions of tourists each year,
with sacred places to three religions. Some of these sites, such as
Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee, are in the vicinity of Haifa.

CALL FOR PAPERS
20th Americas Conference on Information Systems
Savannah, Georgia, August 07-10, 2014
Track: Enterprise systems (SIGEntSys)
Minitrack: Cloud Operations and Very Large Business Applications (VLBA)
Instructions for authors at: AMCIS website(http://amcis2014.aisnet.org/)
================================================================
DESCRIPTION
Emerging technologies like mash-ups, web 2.0 and cloud computing on the
one side and the increasing agility of business models on the other side
raises the question how Enterprise Systems will look like in the future.
Therefore, we see a new class of Enterprise Systems which address the
need for more agility in the entire value chain with a loosely coupled
system of distinct elements, orchestrated to a highly integrated,
complex Information System (Very Large Business Applications, VLBA).
VLBA act as enabler for intra- and interorganisational business
processes and play a significant role in the development of new business
models. This Mini-Track aims at studying, grounding, and finally
exploiting the potential of VLBA to solve integration and coordination
problems in distributed business processes as a key enabler of flexible
boundaryless information systems.
Key research questions are:
-how to represent VLBA in service-based information systems by employing
and adapting constructs, models, and methods of different information
systems technology stacks,
-how to coordinate software services by employing and adapting
approaches for service discovery and composition,
-how to operate large-scale, highly distributed enterprise systems
aligned with the needs of an agile business environment,
-how to negotiate and agree upon the delivery of software-based services
(SLA),
-how to control the delivery of software-based services in VLBA by
measuring efficiency and effectiveness?
This minitrack is continuing the successful start of the scientific
discuss on the topic of VLBA in an international perspective from AMCIS
2012 and AMCIS 2013.
SUGGESTED TOPICS
Topics relevant for this mini-track include, but are not limited to, the
following:
-Cloud Computing and VLBA
-VLBA Operations Management
-Strategic, tactic and operative Systems Landscape Engineering
-VLBA Business Simulations
-VLBA Business Models
-Analytical Business Process Engineering for VLBA
-VLBA and Knowledge Management
-VLBA security issues
-Innovative VLBA Applications
We invite contributions from different disciplines including information
systems, information management, computer and management science to
properly cover all facets of Very Large Business Applications. We
encourage papers applying quantitative and qualitative, empirical and
theoretical research methodologies such as case studies, action
research, surveys, experiments, and design science.
