Betreff: [AISWorld] JAIS Theory Development Workshop at ICIS 2011
Datum: Thu, 28 Jul 2011 12:04:17 +1000
Von: Gregor, Shirley <Shirley.Gregor(a)anu.edu.au>
An: <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
_*Call for Papers - Submissions due 4 September, 2011 *_
Journal of Association for Information Systems sponsored Theory
Development Workshop Associated with ICIS 2011 in Shanghai, China.
Dear Colleague,
Following the nine successful theory development workshops since
December 2002, the Senior Editors of the Journal of Association for
Information Systems (JAIS) are organizing the 10^th theory development
workshop immediately preceding ICIS 2011. The theory development
workshop is scheduled for SATURDAY 3RD OF DECEMBER BEFORE THE
CONFERENCE. The exact location of the workshop will be announced later.
The purpose of the workshop is to promote scholarship that focuses on
new theoretical advances in the Information system field. The design of
the workshop follows the Academy of Management Review (AMR) Theory
Development Workshop format that has proved successful in promoting
theory development in that field. Workshop participants will discuss
drafts of their theoretical work with JAIS senior editors, members of
the JAIS Editorial Board, and other workshop participants. The workshop
is structured to provide detailed feedback from other researchers who
are also developing theoretical work for future journal submission.
There is no obligation for the authors to submit their work once
completed to JAIS, although JAIS is a top quality outlet that does
welcome conceptual and theoretical papers in addition to empirical ones
and has taken papers from these workshops in the past.
Prior to the workshop, participants whose papers have been accepted to
the workshop will receive one to three papers to read and review.
Reviews will follow a brief, structured format that allows participants
to critique their own papers and the papers of other participants.
Reviews will focus on constructive comments and recommendations for ways
to improve the papers. During the workshop, participants will meet in
small groups with a JAIS senior editor and editorial board members.
During this discussion, participants will receive specific feedback on
their papers and provide feedback to others in their group. A JAIS
senior editor and editorial board members will facilitate the small
group discussion so that each participant gets equal time to gather
comments from other members of the group. Please consult the JAIS
website for the list of Senior Editors and the Editorial Board members
(_http://aisel.aisnet.org/jais/_)
Selection for the JAIS Theory Development Workshop is competitive.
This workshop only addresses theory-building, conceptual foundations and
model development issues. All manuscripts must demonstrate new theory
development to be considered. Papers submitted to conferences or
scheduled to be presented at conferences (e.g., ICIS) can be sent as
long as the primary contribution is new theory development.
However, papers under review or revision at a journal are excluded.
The application deadline is September 4^th , 2011. Papers should be no
more than 35 pages in length (max 8000 words), double-spaced, 12 point
Time new roman font or compatible size, with citations in JAIS format
(_http://aisel.aisnet.org/jais/JAIS_Style.pdf_). Longer manuscripts are
also considered if the length is well motivated.
To submit a paper to the workshop, upload an electronic copy of your
paper (including 3-4 key words on the abstract page) to Sprouts: Working
Papers on Information Systems. See information here:
_http://sprouts.aisnet.org/home.html_
Please note: once you have registered and set a "user" account, login to
the system and click the link of "Manage deposits" at the top. To
upload your paper, please click the button of "New Item" and follow the
step-by-step instruction to upload your manuscript. In the submission
form, make sure that you designate the paper to "Proceedings of JAIS
Theory Development Workshop" and select "Shirley Gregor" as the Reviewer
of your submission.
Prior to submission, please read carefully the authors guide here
_http://sprouts.aisnet.org/authors-guide.html_. Your will receive an
acknowledgement of your submission within 7 days. If not, please
contact the JAIS office in a couple days or so as a checkup. No
applications will be accepted after Sunday, September 4^th , 2011.
Individuals selected as participants will be notified by Monday, October
24^th , 2011.
If you have technical question, please direct them to

Betreff: [AISWorld] Electronic Markets: CfP - Special Issue on "Shared
Services: A Holistic Perspective" - Meet us at AMCIS

Meet us at AMCIS:
Renaissance Foyer on August 5, 2011 from 3:30 PM-4:00 PM
(or before the shared services session in room "Brule B" on August 5, 2011 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM)
********************************************************************
Electronic Markets - The International Journal on Networked Business
Call for Papers for Special Issue on
"Shared Services: A Holistic Perspective"
********************************************************************
Guest Editors:
**************
* Frank Ulbrich, Stockholm School of Economics (SE) and Carleton
University (CA)
* Mark Borman, The University of Sydney (AU)
Theme
*****
Shared services is a networked business mechanism to deliver high
quality services in an effective and efficient way to networks of
internal functions or external organizations from a central source.
Shared services are typically information intensive and digitally
delivered and thus predicated on the use of advanced information and
communication technologies. Services range from IT to HR or accounting
to legal - and are constantly being applied to new areas.
Shared services demand and enable changes in business governance,
practices, processes, and organizational form and implementation is a
complex, context-dependent endeavor expressed by electronic markets
where multiple suppliers and customers interact for effectiveness and
efficiency purposes.
Previous research has generally focused on isolated aspects of shared
services such as classification, motivation, and adoption studies. In
this theme section we seek papers that provide a holistic view on shared
services to integrate and advance current research - shedding new lights
into the limited understood complexity of this phenomenon.
Topics
******
Contributing papers may deal with any combination of the following
issues and areas, but are not limited to them:
* Modeling techniques for designing networked business mechanisms
* Managing the transition towards shared services
* Integrating shared services into an existing organizational form
* Evaluating shared services
* Comparing different ways to implement shared services (e.g. in
different sectors, industries, or countries)
* Governance structures and mechanisms for shared services
* Managing dependencies in shared services arrangements
* Emerging trends for new forms/types of shared services
* Merging shared services centers
* Abandoning/dissolving shared services
We are interested in manuscripts from all over the world that are both
conceptually and empirically based. In terms of conceptual papers and
theoretical frameworks, we seek to contribute to theory building by both
re-applying existing frameworks and developing new constructs that help
explain the complexity of managing shared services in organizations. In
terms of empirical data, we seek papers that report, for example, on
experiences from using shared services to enhance organizational
performance or lessons learnt from transforming towards this specific
networked business mechanism.
Additional topic suggestions are welcome.
Submission
**********
Prospective authors should prepare and submit manuscripts according to
the guidelines published at http://www.electronicmarkets.org/authors/submission.
All manuscripts that meet the scope of the special theme will be peer
reviewed and should conform to Electronic Markets' publication
standards. Methodological and theoretical pluralism (empirical or
theoretical work, qualitative research, design science, prototypes,
etc.) is welcome by the journal.
All submissions should be original, not published nor under review
elsewhere. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the special theme,
please contact the guest editors for the special issue.

Call for Papers für die Teilkonferenz
"Service Engineering & Management"
Multikonferenz Wirtschaftsinformatik (MKWI) 2012
29.2. - 2.3.2012 in Braunschweig, http://mkwi2012.de
----------------
systematischen Dienstleistungsentwicklung (Service Engineering)
erforderlich.
Informationssysteme
- Softwarewerkzeuge für das Business Engineering im Dienstleistungsbereich
- Kennzahlensysteme zur Messung der Dienstleistungsproduktivität
- Gestaltung von Informations- und Kommunikationssystemen zur
Produktivitätsmessung und -bewertung
- Fallstudien zum Service Engineering und Management
Leitung der Teilkonferenz:
- Prof. Dr. Tilo Böhmann, Universität Hamburg (Koordinator)

The Second International Workshop on Ubiquitous Computing
Security Issues (UCSI'11)
http://www.comp.dit.ie/ucsi-2011/
In conjunction with the
6th International Conference for Internet Technology and Secured
Transactions (ICITST-2011)
December 11-14, 2011, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Hosted by Khalifa University
http://www.icitst.org/
Workshop Summary
================
In the last few years we have witnessed a significant increase in the
use of computers and mobile devices in Ubiquitous
Computing Systems. While this is a welcome trend, security concerns are
becoming one of the major problems. It is affecting
the adoption rate and usage of these systems. Unless deliberate efforts
are taken to secure these systems from design to
implementation most of the development achieved to date may not be
realised and rolled out to the real world.
The Ubiquitous Computing Security Issues (UCSI) workshop will bring
together researchers and industry participants who are
involved with the design, development, and implementation of novel
applications and frameworks in the domain of Ubiquitous
Computing. The UCSI workshop will provide a high profile, leading edge
forum for researchers and engineers alike to present
state-of-the-art research in the field of security for Ubiquitous Computing.
The UCSI workshop invites original, high-quality research contributions.
In particular contributions that identify the
state-of-the-art in the design, development, deployment, evaluation and
understanding of security issues for Ubiquitous
Computing systems.
