"Special Issue on Digital Forensics"
Today’s world’s societies are becoming more and more dependent on open
networks such as the internet, where commercial activities, business
transactions and government services are realised. This has led to the
fast development of new cyber threats and numerous information security
issues, which are exploited by cyber criminals. The inability to provide
trusted secure services in contemporary computer network technologies
has a tremendous socio-economic impact on global enterprises as well as
individuals.
Moreover, frequently occurring international frauds make it necessary to
conduct investigations of facts across international borders. Such
examinations are often subject to different jurisdictions and legal
systems. The internet has acted as an alternate avenue for the criminals
to conduct their activities and launch attacks with relative anonymity.
Traces of illegal digital activities are often buried in large volumes
of data, making detecting offences and collecting evidence difficult.
Nowadays, digital crime scenes function like any other network, with
dedicated administrators acting as first responders.
This poses new challenges for law enforcement policies and requires the
services of digital forensics to combat the increasing number of
cybercrimes. Digital forensics is a recently emerged research area and
has attracted the attention of computer professionals, law enforcement
experts and practitioners. It is a multidisciplinary area that includes,
for example, law, computer science, finance, networking, data mining and
criminal justice. However, despite increased interest, the field still
faces diverse challenges, most commonly related to the efficiency of the
digital evidence processing and the resulting forensic procedures.
The aim of this special issue is to bring together the research
accomplishments of researchers from academia and industry. It is to show
the latest research results in the field of digital forensics and to
present the development of tools and techniques that assist the
investigation process of potentially illegal cyber activity.
We encourage prospective authors to submit related distinguished
research papers on theoretical approaches and practical case reviews.
Topics of interests include, but are not limited to:
• Digital forensics tools and applications
• Digital forensics case studies and best practices
• Formal standards, procedures and methods in digital forensics
• Privacy issues in digital forensics
• Computer and network forensics
• Network traffic analysis, traceback andattribution
• Incident response, investigation and evidence handling
• Integrity of digital evidence and liveinvestigations
• Identification, authentication and collection of digital evidence
• Cybercrime-related investigations
• Anti-forensic techniques and methods
• Watermarking and intellectual property theft
• Analysis techniques for digital forensics and information assurance
research
• Social networking forensics
• Steganography/steganalysis and covert/subliminal channels in digital
forensics
• New methods for detecting and eliminating network steganography
• Political and business issues related to digital forensicsand
anti-forensic techniques and methods
Original and high quality contributions that have not yet been published
or are not currently under review by other journals or peer-reviewed
conferences are sought. The submitted papers should be formatted
according to the journal style. For more detailed information concerning
the requirements for submission, please refer to the journal homepage here.
All manuscripts and any supplementary material should be submitted to
Section B of the Computer Journal through the online submission system
available at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/compj.
Authors must state in their cover letter that the paper is for the
special issue “Digital Forensics”.
All papers will be rigorously reviewed based on their originality, high
scientific quality, organization, clarity of writing, conclusions and
relevance to this Special Issue. The manuscripts will be accepted or
rejected in line with the usual standards of The Computer Journal.
Besides normal submissions, selected best papers of the IWNS 2011
(International Workshop on Network Steganography) and IWDF 2011
(International Workshop on Digital Forensics) can be submitted to this
special issue. There should be at least 40% difference between the
extended/revised paper and the workshop paper, and the papers will be
handled as all other papers in matters of refereeing and selection.
**Important dates**
Manuscript due: 30 June 2011
Acceptance/rejection notification: 1 October 2011

Service-Oriented Computing: Consequences for Engineering
Requirements
Workshop co-located with the 19th IEEE International
Requirements Engineering Conference
Trento, Italy, 29th August 2011
http://home.dei.polimi.it/baresi/soccer11/
EXTENDED DEADLINE, papers due * Tuesday 14th June 2011*
NB If you are interested in contributing we are also looking
for short papers of approximately 2,000 words
Objective
---------
The objective of this workshop is to host significant and
high-quality contributions in all topics related to
requirements engineering for service-oriented software, with
the goal of letting participants gain insights into the
current state of the art and future challenges, create
synergies through integration, and foster cross-cooperation.
Besides building a community, the main result will be the
continued development of a research agenda to guide and
support researchers in the field.
Topic
-----
Software-based systems are changing. There is increasing
interest in autonomic and self-* systems that are dynamic
and flexibility based on new capabilities to
self-reconfigure and self-resolve anomalous situations.
Currently these capabilities are delivered using services,
and in particular web services, using a service-oriented
approach. Web services are the natural evolution of
conventional middleware technologies to support Web-based
and enterprise-level integration, but the paradigm can also
serve as basis for other classes of systems. For example, it
can be applied to support all systems which require a high
degree of flexibility and dynamism to discover available
functionality at run-time and to negotiate its quality
parameters dynamically. This is the case, for example, for
ambient computing and automotive applications that need to
cope with changing (evolving) configurations. The dynamic
nature of these systems precludes the a-priori
identification of the components that define the system and
demands for the run-time discovery and composition of such
services.
To realize a service-oriented architecture we need
techniques to identify and specify requirements on services
in a machine-interpretable way to enable the dynamic
composition and deployment of systems that meet the
expectations of the different stakeholders. We need new
capabilities to monitor the behavior of deployed systems and
reasoning on partial matches, deviations, and corrective
actions. We need to be able to exploit the availability of
services to discover new opportunities that improve existing
requirements processes and techniques. And finally, we need
to be able to configure systems from different types of
services, including web services, software components and
hybrid services that include human intervention.
The workshop will enable communities that work on
requirements and service-oriented applications to meet
together and share their knowledge to set appropriate
theoretical foundations, define special-purpose
methodologies for requirements elicitation, and develop
supporting technology. The workshop also aims at promoting
research directions on requirements engineering for the
class of applications that require autonomic and
self-managing systems.
Contributions
-------------
Authors are expected to submit full papers of approximately
5,000 words and position papers of approximately 2,000

Aufruf zur Einreichung von Beiträgen
Workshop: "Senioren. Medien.

Dear Gustaf Neumann,
KMIS welcomes the submission of position papers. The submission deadline is set for June 24.
A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. It is, nevertheless, important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims. A position paper may be a short report and discussion of ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research (bibliographic, experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of the conference topics. The acceptance of a position paper is restricted to the categories of "short paper" or "poster", i.e. a position paper is not a candidate to acceptance as "full paper". Please check further details about position papers submission at the conference website (http://www.kmis.ic3k.org/submission_guidelines.asp). CKEI
Hosted by the University PARIS-EST Creteil (UPEC), KMIS will be sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) in cooperation with the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), ACM Special Interest Group on Management Information Systems (ACM SIGMIS), Lissi Laboratory, France and the Information& Knowledge Management Society (IKMS).

Subject: [computational.science] Call for papers for MSM
2011 (Modeling Social Media), co-located with IEEE SocialCom
Date: Fri, 10 Jun 2011 04:37:38 +0000
From: <alvin.chin(a)nokia.com>
Organization: "ICCSA"
To: Computational Science Mailing List
<computational.science(a)lists.iccsa.org>
Hi all,
Based on the success of MSM 2010 which was held in Hypertext 2010 in Toronto, Canada (http://kmi.tugraz.at/workshop/MSM10/), please consider submitting to MSM 2011, the 2nd International Workshop on Modeling Social Media (co-located with IEEE SocialCom 2011).
Call for papers is below:
http://www.kde.cs.uni-kassel.de/ws/msm2011/
Objectives
Continuing the success of MSM 2010, we would like to address the user interface aspects of modeling social media. Much, if not all, interaction is done through some sort of user interface, however how to model social media through the user interface has still not been standardized. For example, people interact with their Facebook friends through the Facebook interface or perhaps another SNS interface like Seesmic. How do we model this user interface, and can this model be replicated to other social media and other form factors like new pad-based devices like the Apple iPad and to more recent high graphics-oriented smartphones like the Apple iPhone 4?
The goal of this workshop is to continue our vibrant discussion on modeling social media, focusing on the user interface modeling.
The workshop aims to attract and discuss various aspects of user interface modeling in social media using a wide range of modeling perspectives (such as justificative, explanative, descriptive, formative, predictive, etc models) and approaches (statistical modeling, conceptual modeling, temporal modeling, etc).
We want to bring together social networking researchers and user interface designers and practitioners with diverse backgrounds interested in 1) exploring different perspectives and approaches to modeling complex social media phenomena and systems through the user interface, 2) the different purposes and applications that models of social media can serve, and 3) issues of integrating and validating user interfaces in social media systems.
Topics of Interest
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
* New modeling techniques and approaches for user interfaces in social media
* Application design for user interfaces of social media (phone, pad-based, PC, web)
* modeling social media users and their motivations and goals
* Modeling user behaviour in social media
* User-centered design for social media
* Models of user cooperation and collaboration in social media
* Trust and user-acceptance of social media
* Integrating user interface design with social media
* Testing user interface models and social media applications
* Usability in social media interfaces (is usability not much of a concern since connectivity is more important?)
We also encourage submissions which relate research results from other areas to the workshop topics.
