Call For Papers AOSE 2011
12th International Workshop on
Agent-Oriented Software Engineering
Held with AAMAS 2011, Taipei, Taiwan, May 2/3, 2011
http://distrinet.cs.kuleuven.be/events/aose/2011/
MOTIVATION
Since the early 1990s, multi-agent system researchers have developed
a large body of knowledge on the foundations and engineering principles
for designing and developing agent-based systems. The 11 past editions
of the agent-oriented software engineering workshop (AOSE) had a key
role in this endeavor. For 2011, the workshop organizers and the steering
committee plan to organize a special edition of AOSE. In particular,
we aim to wrap up the previous editions of the workshop with a discussion
of the the state of the art in the key areas of AOSE and based on that
outline the future of the field. This way, we aim to find a way out of
the increasing fragmentation and fuzziness on software engineering in AOSE.
The workshop program will be based on invited papers complemented with
accepted papers from the call for papers. Invited papers will be presented
by renowned researches and engineers in different areas of the field,
including agent-oriented methodologies, coordination infrastructures for
multi-agent systems, programming agents and multi-agent systems,
engineering multi-agent organizations, engineering self-organizing systems,
agents and services. Regular papers can focus on any aspect of
agent-oriented software engineering. However, we encourage authors to pay
particular attention on challenges for future research and the position
of their work in the broader field of agent oriented software engineering
and software engineering in general.
The workshop organizers plan to edit a special issue in a high-quality
journal with the invited papers and selected regular papers. Additionally,
we plan to publish accepted papers in a volume of the Lecture Notes for
Computer Science series.
GOALS and TOPICS
The general goal of this year's workshop is to to bring together leading
research and engineers in AOSE to consolidate the state of the art in the
field and discuss the future of the field. To that end, we will combine a
series of invited papers with a call for regular papers.
Topics of invited papers include:
* Agent-oriented methodologies
* Coordination infrastructures for multi-agent systems
* Programming agents and multi-agent systems
* Engineering multi-agent organizations
* Engineering self-organizing systems
* Agents and services
Invited papers will be written and presented by renowned researches and
engineers in the field. The idea is not to have papers focusing on the
authors their specific work, but to have papers with a vision that are
based on the key work in each area, and an outline of the challenges for
future research.
Topics of regular papers include but are not restricted to:
* Goal-oriented design
* Reusable design knowledge: patterns and reference architectures
* Qualities and tradeoffs of agent-based architectures
* Modeling and simulation in AOSE
* Agents and model-driven approaches
* Verification of agent-based software
* Middleware integration of agent-based software
* Integration of agents with legacy systems
* Testing of agent-based software
* Validation of agent technology in practice
* CASE tools to support agent-oriented software development in
practice
* Implications of introducing agent-based solutions on the
development organization
* Standardization efforts for multi-agent systems
* Agent-based methods and solutions for managing complexity
* Alignment of agents with service-oriented software development
* Agents for self-adaptive systems
Authors of regular papers can focus on theoretical, experimental,
methodological, and practical aspects. In line with the general goal of
the workshop, we encourage authors to position their work in the broader
field of agent-oriented software engineering and software engineering in
general, and outline the challenges for future research.
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
AOSE welcomes the submission of theoretical, experimental, methodological
as well as application papers which focus on the topics outlined above.
Submitted papers will will be evaluated by three members of the PC. Papers
that present a valuable idea that needs further development can be accepted
as a short paper.
SUBMISSIONS
Papers should be between 8 and 12 pages, including the text, figures,
and references. The submissions must be formatted according to the Springer
Verlag LNCS style. PDF format is required.
Papers can be submitted via EasyChair 'AOSE 2011',
at https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=aose2011
The good receipt of your submission will be confirmed by email.
PUBLICATIONS
The plan is to publish the invited and a selection of regular workshop
papers
in a special issue of a high-quality journal of the multi-agent system
community.
Acceped workshop papers are planned to be published in a Lecture Notes in
Computer Science volume.

******************************************************************************
Guest Editors:
* Xin (Robert) Luo, Ph.D. (Anderson School of Management,
University of New Mexico, USA)
* Heng Xu, Ph.D. (College of Information Sciences and
Technology Pennsylvania State University, USA)
* Lee J. Yao, Ph.D. (J.A. Butt College of Business, Loyola
University New Orleans, USA)
Theme:
As coined by Luo and Zhang (2010), the Greater China Region
(GCR) refers to the geographical area of Chinese culture
with regard to the economic development, not to political
entities. This includes the economies of Mainland China,
Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and extends to countries such
as Malaysia and Singapore whose national economies are also
impacted by and related to Chinese owned and/or managed
businesses as well as large numbers of Chinese consumers.
During the last decade, we have witnessed dramatic
progresses in the GCR region as Chinese economy has been
increasingly integrated into global economy. Driven by the
growing economy, many companies in this region have launched
ambitious strategic e-Commerce plans, and governments have
been pursuing aggressive policies to open up new business
opportunities and to reinforce the development of the
e-Commerce industry specifically and the adoptions of
e-Commerce initiatives across industries in general.
As a key component to business profitability,
sustainability, and competency, e-Commerce intelligence
consists of a broad category of information technologies,
processes, models, and applications for gathering, storing,
accessing, and analyzing data to help organizations make
more efficient and effective decisions. As the fundamental
of e-Commerce, Information System (IS) research is capable
of contributing significantly to the further development of
e-Commerce intelligence in its theoretical, technical, and
managerial dimensions.
This special issue is mainly concerned with the role that
e-Commerce intelligence has been playing in this phenomenal
process. It is the first global high-quality journal venue
dedicated to scientific research about e-Commerce
intelligence development in the GCR. Its publication and
distribution is bound to show the world e-Commerce
intelligence development and various related issues in the
GCR. It will provide academic researchers and practitioners
with a unique opportunity to demonstrate high-quality
scientific research in this intriguing domain. It intends to
leverage the global platform for peer exchanging of research
ideas and findings.
Aims and Scope:
The objective of this special issue is to attract high
quality manuscripts from both researchers and practitioners
who are interested in issues related particularly to
e-Commerce intelligence development and research in the GCR.
Papers of all types of methodological approaches (e.g.,
behavioral, modeling, case studies and prototypes, etc.) are
welcome. Possible contributions may include, but are not
limited to, the following:
* Distributed knowledge discovery for e-Commerce
* Location-aware services
* Data mining and data warehousing
* Web-based customer relationship management
* XBRL e-Reporting for e-Commerce
* Digital supply chain management
* Business web intelligence
* Proactive fraud detection and privacy preservation
* Anti-theft, anti-money laundering, and anti-crime for
e-Commerce
* Web 2.0 based e-Commerce services
* Web 2.0 based marketing for e-Commerce
* Web search engine analytics for e-Commerce
All papers should elucidate their unique contributions to
the understanding of e-Commerce intelligence development in
the GCR, and are also encouraged to relate their findings to
and compare with other global economies.
If you would like to discuss any aspect of the special
issue, please contact the Guest Editors.

Call for Papers - Mini-Track Virtual Communities
17th Americas Conference on Information Systems
August 4-8 2011, Detroit, Michigan, USA
http://www.virtual-community.org
This Mini-Track builds on the success of the preceding AMCIS mini-tracks
on virtual communities and Social Networking. During the last ten years we
have been gathering a community of researchers who are interested in the
field of virtual communities and social networking and related issues.
Please visit the mini-track website at http://www.virtual-community.org
Virtual communities and social networking based on message boards, instant
messaging, user groups, and blogs have emerged as high activity domains on
the Internet and more and more in the realm of mobile devices and mobile
internet usage. Virtual communities and social networks are designed for a
variety of purposes, ranging from Communities of Interest, Communities of
Relationship (e.g., Facebook), Gaming Communities (e.g., in Wolrd of
Warcraft, Second Life), and Communities of Transaction to Peer-to-Peer
Communities or Mobile Communities. Web 2.0 mechanisms are also boosting
the development of virtual communities and the role of user-generated
content within virtual communities. The significance of these communities
is evident by the impact they have on information generation and
transmission, and socialization. For example, today, blogs are quickly
becoming a primary source of information in a variety of domains. The
dynamic and interactive nature of these forums makes them very attractive
for users and operators. An additional value offered by many of these
communities is their ability to support socialization and offer an
identity for the participants. While most virtual communities share these
characteristics, it is also important to recognize that virtual
communities are not homogeneous; they differ significantly based on the
domain, purpose and benefits. Well-organized communities even expand their
power across various channels and into the Offline world.
Within the field of information systems researchers are interested in
studying interaction patterns, social structures and interactions,
transaction processes, management aspects, business models, and design
aspects of information systems and services for virtual communities.
Community members interact via digital media and contribute value in the
form of content, reviews, and recommendations. Related issues are trust,
network effects, transaction costs and the design of services as well as
the generation of innovations. "Wisdom of Crowds", "Collective
Intelligence" and "Crowdsourcing" are important new terms describing
mechanisms around user-generated content in virtual communities and social
networks.
This mini-track welcomes empirical, conceptual, and theoretical work.
Despite the increasing popularity of virtual communities and social
networking, major questions relating to virtual communities and social
networking remain largely unexplored.
We solicit submissions of papers on all aspects of virtual communities.
Possible topics include (but are not limited to):
* Social, political and economic impact of virtual communities
* User-generated content and customer collaboration in virtual
communities
* Management and organizational behaviour of communities
* Innovation generation and virtual communities (e.g., wisdom of
crowds, collective intelligence)
* Virtual communities and mobile devices
* Case studies and empirical studies, best practices, and lessons
learned
* Motivation of participants in virtual communities
* Benefits of participation in and competition among virtual
communities
* Information dispersion in virtual communities
* Typologies and taxonomies of virtual communities
* Evolution of and innovation in virtual communities
* Community models, platforms, services, and interactions,
multi-channel communities
* Community-related business models
This mini-track builds on the success of the preceding AMCIS mini-track on
virtual communities. During the last ten years we have been gathering a
community of researchers who are interested in the field of virtual
communities and related issues. Please visit the mini-track website at
http://www.virtual-community.org for more information and accepted papers
of previous years.

CALL FOR PAPERS
17th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2011)
August 4-7, 2011 (Thursday-Sunday)
Detroit Marriott Hotel (
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/dtwdt-detroit-marriott-at-the-renaiss…
)
Track: Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management
Minitrack: Knowledge Management Value, Success and Performance Measurements
DESCRIPTION
Research into knowledge management (KM), organizational memories, and
organizational learning has been affected by investigations such as
implementation aspects, system developments, or knowledge flows during a
number of years. Therefore, a high maturity level of KM research has been
achieved. However, organizational KM initiatives are more and more faced
with budget cuts and justification demands due to intense competition in
today’s business environments. The influences of the rapid pace of
globalization and of the ongoing liberalization of national and
international markets lead to the emergence of increased pressure on
existing companies. Project managers of KM initiatives like Chief Knowledge
Officers need to justify their budgets and thus are in need of qualitative
and quantitative evidence of the initiatives’ success. In addition, ROI
calculations and traditional accounting approaches do not tell an adequate
story when proposing knowledge-based initiatives. This minitrack explores
research into strategies, methodologies, and stories that relate to measure
this success. In addition, this minitrack will be used to explore the
bodies of performance measurements that define the current state of
research in measuring KM, organizational memory, and organizational
learning success. Eventually, another purpose of this minitrack is to
present research on how to value knowledge-based initiatives.
SUGGESTED TOPICS
Topics and research areas include, but are not limited to:
* Frameworks and models for assessing knowledge management and/or
organizational memory systems
