PAPER ONE
The Accuracy of Location Prediction Algorithms Based on Markovian Mobility
Models
Péter Fülöp, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary
Sándor Imre, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary
Sándor Szabó, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary
Tamás Szálka, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary
The efficient dimensioning of cellular wireless access networks depends
highly on the accuracy of the underlying mathematical models of user
distribution and traffic estimations. The optimal placement/deployment of
e.g. UMTS, IEEE 802.16 WiMAX base stations or IEEE 802.11 WLAN access
points is based on user distribution and traffic characteristics in the
service area. In this paper, the authors focus on the tradeoff between the
accuracy and the complexity of the mathematical models used to describe
user movements in the network. The authors propose a novel Markov chain
based model capable of utilizing users movement history. This article
analyzes the complexity of the proposed model and justifies the accuracy
by means of simulation.

PAPER TWO
Optimizing Message Verbosity and Energy Consumption in Secured Wireless
Mobile Networks
P. P. Abdul Haleem, National Institute of Technology Calicut, India
M. P. Sebastian, National Institute of Technology Calicut, India
This article presents a method for reducing the verbosity of messages in
the constrained wireless mobile networks. Wireless mobile devices,
especially low cost devices, are stifled by limited resources such as
battery power, screen size, input, memory, and processors. The relevance
of low cost wireless mobile devices in penetrating to third world market
demands for a cost effective messaging format that fits in the constrained
wireless environment. The authors offer a proposed scheme based on YAML
AinŽ Markup Language (YAML), a user friendly and light weight messaging
format. This article proposes a measure to reduce the message size and
energy consumption together with secure processing.

PAPER THREE
Optimal Spectral Resolution in Speaker Authentication Application in Noisy
Environment and Telephony
Siham Ouamour, USTHB University, Algeria
Halim Sayoud, University of Bab-Ezzouar, Algeria
Mhania Guerti, ENS.Polytechnique, Algeria
This article deals with the problem of speaker characterization, for which
the principal interest is the improvement of the techniques of speaker
authentication. For this purpose, the authors investigate the effect of
spectral resolution in the speaker authentication performance. This
investigation employs an approach based on the second order statistical
measures using mel frequency spectral coefficients (MFSC) and seeks the
best spectral resolution. Experiments are done on microphonic and
telephonic speech signals with several MFSC dimensions and several types
of noises.

PAPER FOUR
Improving Energy Efficiency and Throughput in Heterogeneous Mobile Ad Hoc
Networks
Manu.J.Pillai, Kerala University, India
M. P. Sebastian, National Institute of Technology Calicut, India
Nodes are expected to transmit at different power levels in heterogeneous
mobile adhoc networks, thus leading to communication links of different
length. Conventional MAC protocols that unconditionally presume that links
are bi-directional and with unvarying energy distribution may not succeed
or execute badly under such circumstances. Interference and signal loss
resulting out of distance and fading diminish the entire throughput
attained in heterogeneous networks to a greater extent. This article
presents a MAC protocol, which adaptively transmits data frames using
either the energy efficient nodes or a list of high data rate assistant
nodes. In addition, a cross-layer based energy level on-demand routing
protocol that adaptively regulates the transmission rate on basis of
congestion is projected.

PAPER FIVE
Mobile Community Networks: Evolution and Challenges
Vijayan Sugumaran, Oakland University, USA
Shriram Raghunathan, B. S. Abdur Rahman University, India
K. Vivekanandan, Bharathiar University, India
The evolution of mobile devices has opened new opportunities for
collaboration and communication. Instant connectivity, portability,
rapidly reducing costs, etc. are some of the drivers for this change.
Mobile devices have lower processing power and memory capabilities and
deal with varying network conditions. Notwithstanding the above, mobile
communities have emerged as a significant domain of research in their own
right akin to the online (virtual) communities. This article traces the
factors contributing to the proliferation of mobile communities and places
the mobile community networks in a current and future perspective. This
article proposes an architecture for mobile community networks and
discusses the challenges in implementing such network.

Call for Papers
6th IEEE International Workshop on Digital Rights Management
13th January, 2010, Las Vegas, Nevada
http://drm.unige.ch/
Satellite Workshop of 7th IEEE Consumer Communications & Networking
Conference (IEEE CCNC 2010)
OVERVIEW
Consumers and consumer electronics are increasingly using the Internet for
distribution of digital goods, including digital versions of books,
articles, music, video, games, software and images. Organizations are also
increasingly concerned with information protection and control within and
beyond the corporate perimeter for reasons including traceability,
compliance, accountability and persistent management of intangible assets.
The ease with which digital goods can be copied and redistributed makes
the Internet well suited for unauthorized copying, modification and
redistribution. The rapid adoption of new technologies such as
high-bandwidth connections, wireless networks, and peer-to-peer networks
is accelerating this process.
This one-day workshop on Digital Rights Management addresses problems
faced by all stakeholders in this ecosystem including rights owners who
seek to protect their intellectual property rights, develop innovative
business models and end consumers / users who seek to protect their
privacy, enjoy a good user experience and preserve access they benefit
from using traditional media.
Digital Rights Management (DRM) systems are intended to protect the rights
of content owners in scenarios in which the participants often have
conflicting goals and interests. This adversarial situation introduces
interesting new twists on classical problems studied in cryptology and
security research, such as key management and access control. Furthermore,
novel security mechanisms and innovative designs can enable new business
models and applications.
The workshop format will be highly interactive, based on a series of
presentations held in a panel/forum type of environment to encourage
discussion of topics and issues.
TOPICS
The workshop seeks submissions (consisting of a paper) on all theoretical
and practical aspects of DRM, as well as experimental studies of fielded
systems on topics including, but not limited to, those shown below:
 DRM protocols
 architectures for DRM systems
 interoperability
 auditing
business models for online content distribution
copyright-law issues, including but not limited to fair use
 digital policy management
 information ownership
 privacy and anonymity
 risk management
 web services

Matthias Jarke und Kalle Lyytinen
Gast-Herausgeber, WI-Sonderheft "High-Impact Requirements Engineering"
==========================
Call for Papers
Heft 3/2010 High-Impact Requirements Engineering
Nach wie vor scheitern zahlreiche softwareintensive Systeme an Mängeln in
der Anforderungsanalyse und im kontinuierlichen Management der
identifizierten Anforderungen.
* Anforderungsmanagement und Geschäftsprozesse (firmenintern,
übergreifend, Interaktion mit öffentlichem Bereich), Ownership von
Anforderungen
* Einfluss von Produkt- und Prozessvarianten, Plattformstrategien
* Anforderungsmanagement, Systemarchitekturen und Systemlandschaften
* Rechtliche, ökonomische und soziale Aspekte des
Anforderungsmanagements
* Bezüge zwischen Anforderungsmanagement, Marktforschung und Industrial
Design
* Strukturierung der Anforderungen großer, heterogener Benutzergruppen
* Benutzergetriebene Systementwicklung (end-user development)
* Anforderungsmanagement in Open-Source-Communitys
* Anforderungsmanagement in der internationalen Softwareentwicklung
(Outsourcing, Offshoring)
* Laufzeitmonitoring von Anforderungen
* Änderungsmanagement und Traceability
* Zielorientiertes Anforderungsmanagement
* Neue Modellierungsmethoden für das Anforderungsmanagement
* Management von Komplexität und Dynamik von Anforderungen
* Werkzeuge für das Anforderungsmanagement
* Praxisfallstudien

Introduction
Recently, the new expansion of EC is taking place, especially in the form
of B2B. The main goal of B2B is to provide business entities with the
ability to establish business relationships in such a manner that their
public business processes may interact with each other exchanging their
data. In a business scenario, business entities are usually loosely
coupled; that means business processes require ad hoc integration from
time to time. Such integration on demand may experience many conflicts.
Problems arise due to the huge heterogeneity between business processes
and data involved, which are both different by nature on the one side and
on the other side between underlying IT technologies, which are different
by default. Many efforts have been devoted to overcoming interoperability
problems of any kind, but they have not reached their promise yet. Instead
of unlimited interoperability inside and between business entities, the
result was too many mutually incompatible “standards” that formed isolated
areas of e-business seeking for new investments over and over again.
Recent research efforts are looking very promising. They are concentrating
on two big goals: to provide middleware technologies and frameworks which
are capable to act as self-acting dynamic artifacts at the time of
invocation and to provide necessary semantic understanding between peers
of any kind. Despite well-defined goals and recent results, the whole
thing is still under development. At the same time, the problem of
security of such potentially very open platforms has been raised. The
security requirements for B2B transactions are very rigorous. There is a
need to protect business data before, after, and during the transactions
on the transmission line. Many times, the business process occurs between
two partners who have no trust in each other or there is a third party in
a transaction. What about semantic ad hoc frameworks, how to protect data
and business processes in a wide-open knowledgeable machine readable
environment where many cooperative processes are taking place with no
human intervention. That is a big issue of the security of intelligent
frameworks we are going to build.
Objective of the Book
This book is will aim to analyze and overview main obstacles, to give
critical assessment on existing approaches, and to show recent research
efforts in order to overcome interoperability problems in electronic
business. It will serve as a source of knowledge for researchers,
educators, students, and industry practitioners to share and exchange
their most current research findings, ideas, practices, challenges, and
opportunities concerning electronic business interoperability.
Target Audience
The target audience of this book will be composed of researchers,
teachers, undergraduate and PhD students in various e-business programs.
Recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
