Call for Papers
Data Grids are addressing a lot of problems related to large data sets
manipulation over wide computing networks, providing tools and
services for exchanging, delivery, processing and managing huge amount
of data. Data Grids are continuosly gaining much interest in several
eScience contexts including for instance climate change, high energy
physics, astrophysics, bioinformatics, etc. Since eScience
applications involve huge amount of data which can be heterogeneous
and geographically spread in nature, data grids play a crucial role in
the current and future eInfrastructures and middleware solutions. A
lot of open issues concerning data grids for eScience (heterogeneity,
high autonomy and large-scale distribution of data resources, etc.)
still need to be faced. Challenging requirements for data grids
oriented architecture/infrastructure solutions in several eScience
contexts include autonomy, quality of service, interoperability,
scalability, fault-tolerance, security.

ABOUT CSMR 2009
"Architecture-Centric Maintenance of Large-Scale Software Systems"
Maintaining large-scale software systems consumes a significant amount
of resources. However, introducing new functionality, addressing change
requests, or simply fixing an error is typically time-consuming,
effort-intensive, and error-prone. How can we tackle these phenomenons
with appropriate maintenance and reengineering techniques? How can a
proper architecture ensure efficient and effective maintenance? How
can we reduce the effort for maintaining large-scale software systems?
At CSMR 2009, we discuss these questions and derive answers. We advance
the state of the art and help to mature the state of the practice. Enjoy
this year's conference with its high quality technical program, benefit
from interesting and fruitful discussions, exchange your experiences,
meet old friends and make new ones.

Today Agile software development methodologies have become widely accepted
in industry. This phenomenon raises several new research issues including
adoption and post-adoption experiences with agile development, agile
project management, social aspects of agile development, distributed agile
development, scalability of agile methodologies, and enterprise agility,
to name but a few. For example, there is little of note on the project
management aspects of agile development, including such issues as cost and
schedule estimation and planning, allocation of resources, management of
risks, and change control management. Also, with software development
becoming more global, there is an urgent need to understand how agile
practices can be effectively employed in a distributed environment. This
mini-track will provide a forum for researchers to address fundamental
issues in agile development and to explore contemporary issues raised by
the widespread acceptance of agile methodologies.
Authors are requested to submit manuscripts on the following and related
topics:
 Organizational adoption and adaptation of agile methodologies
 Agile project management tools, metrics, practices, roles, risk
management, etc.
 Knowledge Management in agile development
 Agile methods in theory versus agile methods in practice
 Economics of agile development
 Role of agile methods in large-scale, mission critical systems and large
teams
 Agile development and process maturity (relationship to CMM-SW, CMMI and
ISO 9001)
 The efficacy of Test-Driven Development
 Service-Oriented Architecture and agile development
 Distributed agile development
 Enterprise agility
 Education and training in agile development

*INTRODUCTION, AIM AND TARGET AUDIENCE OF THE BOOK *
Recent development of information and communication technologies (ICT) provides information systems designers with new technical potentialities to build systems for various purposes. Especially the emergence of ubiquitous computing and wearable computers supported by wireless technologies and distributed interfaces could facilitate the design of innovative new applications for users. In addition to work-related activities, people use new technologies for increasingly diverse purposes, such as organizing their domestic affairs, for finding information and e-services, and for staying in touch with their friends and relatives. This means that there is a growing need of know-how regarding IS as constructed for mediating and supporting users' needs, purposes, and experiences, as is often the case in approaches known as human-centered information systems development (ISD).
Traditionally, the perspectives of human-centered ISD are discussed from several different viewpoints: participatory design and other user-oriented approaches consider how end users can be more involved in IS design; ethnomethodological approaches offer tools for capturing requirements and understanding work processes, cognitive engineering aims at the implementation of systems that effectively support adaptive perception-based behavior, and some other scholars aim at understanding information systems as social systems, among many other perspectives. For IS researchers and practitioners embracing a user-oriented approach in their work the current situation is awkward since an accurate view on the aforementioned issues is missing. Without such view the IS discipline will not evolve effectively, since mutual approaches are never met. This prohibits both effective development of IS that meet users' needs and valuable theory development in the field.
By this book, we aim at providing a thorough examination on the dimensions of end-users in ISD. The minitrack "End-Users in Information Systems Development: Theories, Applications and Implications" run by the editors in HICSS conferences in 2005 and 2006 and ongoing work on Information Systems Journal special issue on "User - the great unknown" (with Prof. Juhani Iivari) has made the need for a complete and profound analysis and introduction of methods and approaches evident. It is also obvious that the detached tradition of human-centred ISD creates problems in terms of accurate sources of information when trying to understand the multifaceted nature of the area. At present, it is important to aim for a solid view of human-centred ISD.
We target the book for IS researchers, practitioners and students whom we believe would benefit from a book providing a comprehensive view to different human-centered ISD methods and approaches. Also the representatives of the fields of human-computer interaction (HCI) and computer supported collaborative work (CSCW) are most likely interested in our approach. For this reason, we do not offer only a theoretical handbook or a collection of practical experiences, but both of them as well as some critical discussions of utilization the methods in ISD and their implications with some interconnecting commentary viewpoints. Hence, as the title of the book: "Reframing Humans in Information Systems" illustrates, we aim at providing a novel and accurate viewpoint to the understanding of the user in ISD holistically. Our aim is to reframe the phenomenon by connecting scientific constructs produced within information systems science that has recently provided a plethora of multidisciplinary user views without explicitly defining clear constructs that serve the IS field in particular.
RECOMMENDED TOPICS
We are interested in papers that discuss, for example, one (or more) of the following topics:
* theoretical methods or models on developing IS with and for the users
* studies aiming at holistic views of user involvement in IS development
* experiences on implications of involving end users is IS design
* end users' and developers cooperation in ISD
* developers', managers', customers' or end users' representatives perceptions and understanding of user-centric methods and approaches, or of their needs and application in practice
* studies on involving end users in information systems design
The papers may be theoretical or empirical targeted to practitioners or academics. The papers will be evaluated according to their contribution, theoretical and practical relevance, and diversity.
* SUBMISSION PROCEDURE *
Please submit a 800 word chapter proposal clearly outlining the mission and objective of the proposed chapter and its relation to the mission of this book. Submissions should be made by e-mail to both editors: hannakaisa.isomaki(a)jyu.fi and samuli.pekkola(a)tut.fi by February 28 2009. Authors will be notified by March 15, 2009 about the status and suitability of their proposals. We strongly encourage other topics that have not been listed in our suggested list.
Authors of accepted proposals are invited to prepare and submit full chapters (4000 to 8000 words max.) by May 1, 2009. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis.
This book will be publishing by Springer-Verlag in late 2010.

AMCIS 2009 Call for Papers
Track: SIGBIZ Track
Mini-track: Web 2.0 and Electronic Commerce
15th Americas Conference on Information Systems
San Francisco, California
August 6-9 2009
Description:
The term “Web 2.0” has been coined to describe a phase in the everlasting evolution of Web usage and interaction which focuses on facilitating global collaboration and sharing among users in web-based communities and services. Technology advancements in web-based programming (e.g. Active Java, XML) has enabled the development of Web 2.0 applications (e.g. Wikis, Blogs, Social networking sites such as Facebook) much focused on user empowerment. The rise of web 2.0 results in quantum cultural, social, economic or even legal impact to individuals, enterprises, organizations and society. It builds a platform for nurturing innovativeness and the sharing culture. New applications in e-business and e-commerce appear everyday and results in enormous shocks to the ecosystem of individuals and businesses. In particular, Web 2.0 changes the relationship between consumers and retailers significantly. Web 2.0 has created new opportunities for communication and collaboration through social media, such as online discussion forums, electronic bulletin board systems, blogs, review sites, wikis, social bookmarking, and social networking sites. Thus, consumers can easily obtain information related to goods and services from a vast, geographically dispersed group of people, who have experience with relevant products or services. Meanwhile, Web 2.0 gives retailers a wealth of options for reaching more consumers, understanding their consumers better, offering a new marketing channel that helps promote products and services, and providing their customers with world-class online experiences.
Much of the available literature on Web 2.0 tends to focus on design and application. There is relatively little on general frameworks and empirically validated theories explaining the use of Web 2.0 in the context of electronic commerce. The main purpose of this minitrack is to help fill this gap by providing a rigorous forum to draw together important recent developments in this area.
Suggested Topics:
The topics of this minitrack will include (but not be limited to) the following aspects of Web 2.0 and electronic commerce:
- Models of Web 2.0 adoption and usage in the context of electronic commerce
- Web 2.0 and marketing
- Web 2.0 and social computing
- Web 2.0 and prosumers
- Web 2.0 and customer knowledge management
- Web 2.0 and customer relationship management
- Satisfaction and Trust in Web 2.0 applications in the context of electronic commerce
- Impact of Web 2.0 on consumers and retailers
- Future trends of Web 2.0 development in electronic commerce

5th International Workshop on
Cooperation & Interoperability - Architecture & Ontology
(CIAO! 2009)

Proceedings published in
Springer Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing
(LNBIP)
===================================================================
Motivation
----------
Modern enterprises face a strong economical pressure to increase
competitiveness, to operate on a global market, and to engage in
alliances of several kinds. Agility thus has become the new guiding
principle for enterprises. This requires flexible organizational
structures and business processes, as well as flexible supporting
information systems and a flexible ICT-infrastructure. In addition, an
enterprise needs to be able to easily expand or shrink, be it through
cooperation with other enterprises, through mergers or acquisitions,
or through insourcing or outsourcing of services.
In order to meet these economical requirements, enterprises rely
increasingly on the benefits of modern information and communication
technology (ICT). However, the appropriate knowledge to deploy this
technology as needed, and in an effective and efficient way, is
largely lacking, particularly knowledge regarding the cooperation in
and between enterprises and knowledge regarding the interoperability
of their information systems.
Focus and Goal
--------------
The CIAO! workshop is a leading workshop in the emerging field of
Enterprise Engineering, which is based on the notions of Enterprise
Ontology and Enterprise Architecture. Enterprise Ontology is
conceptually defined as (the understanding of) the essence of an
enterprise. Operationally, it is its highest-level constructional
model, completely independent on the way in which it is implemented.
Enterprise Architecture is conceptually defined as the normative
restriction of design freedom. Operationally, it is the set of design
principles that are applicable to the (re)design of the enterprise's
business processes, organization, information systems, etc.
The goal of the workshop is to gather academics and practitioners in
order to share innovative research issues and practical experiences,
and to facilitate profound discussions about these issues, in
particular about the application of the notions of architecture and
ontology in dealing with inter- and intra-organizational business
processes and the interoperability of supporting information systems.
Topics of interest to this workshop include, but are not limited to:
* Modeling (cross-enterprise) business processes
* Reference models for (cross-enterprise) business processes
* Cooperation theories (e.g., the language-action-perspective)
* Domain reference ontologies
* Enterprise ontologies
* Enterprise architectures
* Business rules
* Information system ontologies
* Information system architectures
* Component-based system development
* Ontology-based web services
* Interoperability testing and verification
* Service Oriented Architecture
Organization of the Workshop
----------------------------
The CIAO! 2009 workshop is the 5th workshop of a series of successful
workshops. (CIAO!'08, MIOS-CIAO'06, MIOS-INTEROP'05, MIOS'04) held at
the CAiSE and OTM Federated conferences so far.
We are looking for articles on current or recently finished research
projects as well as articles from practitioners. Based on our
inspiring experience of the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008 workshops, the
CIAO! 2009 workshop is planned again to be a real workshop, providing
ample time for discussions and group works, during two days.
Consequently, the paper presentations will be short, covering only the
highlights. In addition, the focus of discussion will be on CIAO: the
problem areas Cooperation and Interoperability, and the application of
Architecture and Ontology in dealing with them.
We are honored to announce Professor Dr. Robert Winter, full chair of
information management at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in
Switzerland, as keynote speaker for the 5th CIAO! workshop.
Submission Conditions
---------------------
