======================= CALL FOR PAPERS ===================================
Semantic-Based Resource
Discovery, Retrieval and Composition
SDRC
http://sisinflab.poliba.it/sac2007/
TECHNICAL TRACK at the
22nd ACM Symposium on Applied Computing
SAC 2007
http://www.acm.org/conferences/sac/sac2007/
============================================================================
SAC 2007
For the past twenty-one years, the ACM Sym-posium on Applied Computing
has been a primary gathering forum for applied computer scientists,
computer engineers, software engineers, and application developers from
around the world. SAC 2007 is sponsored by the ACM Special Interest
Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP), and is hosted by Seoul National
University in Seoul and The Suwon University in Gyeonggi-do.
SEMANTIC-BASED RESOURCE DISCOVERY, RETRIEVAL AND COMPOSITION Track
This track aims at gathering researchers from various fields, spanning
from web/mobile services discovery and composition, to intelligent
multimedia retrieval, to planning in artificial intelligence, to
matchmaking in electronic commerce. We envisage the following topics as
central for the
track:
- retrieval of resource descriptions
- knowledge management
- supply chain formation
- web/mobile service discovery and composition
- node discovery in P2P networks
- matchmaking of resource request and resource providers
- planning and scheduling
- semantic-based resource negotiation
- semantic annotation for multimedia
- information integration
- semantic grid
All these topics share as central the notion of "Semantically-annotated
Resource" in general searching problems with respect to a request. A
resource is a broad term comprising goods in electronic commerce,
information available in remote sites, services announced through
Internet, learning objects, digital images, to mention a few. Whatever
their nature, the term "resource" is used in a general sense for
whatever might be identified atomically and univocally. Hence, the
problem of resource matching and retrieval arises in several scenarios.
The front-end of a resource is always a description of what the resource
is, what it provides, who can access it, possibly with side economic
constraints. All this information can be semantically annotated, either
directly in XML, or using some upper strata for defining standard terms
as in ebXML, or OWL-S. While semantic annotation rules out ambiguities
of Natural Language, the problem raises about how well a single resource
fits a particular request, or whether there is a pool of resources which
- suitably composed - cover a request. Side economic conditions in
resource descriptions, such as cost, method of payment, payments delay,
can make compositions difficult to be properly formed, while economic
constraints in resource request usually filter out some solutions.
SUBMISSION
Authors are invited to submit original papers related, but not limited
to, the proposed track topics. Submissions fall into the following
categories:
- Original and unpublished research work

- Reports of industrial experience and demos of new innovative systems
Peer groups with expertise in the track focus area will blindly review
submissions to that track. Accepted papers will be published in the
annual conference proceedings.

and Infos
==========================================================================
SCOPE:
The rapid advances in computing and wireless communication
technologies along with their integration into commodity devices such
as personal digital assistants, mobile phones, and portable computers
provide a technical infrastructure that enables a broad range of
mobile services and applications. These include scenarios where
seamless access to a computing infrastructure is provided, scenarios
where interaction and data sharing among mobile users occur in mobile
ad hoc networks, and hybrid scenarios that combine these two.
The continued miniaturization of computing devices along with
improvements in the performance/price ratio enable new services and
applications, e.g., in environmental monitoring and transportation.
Although substantial research has been conducted, this area remains
ripe with open research challenges, e.g., in relation to context-aware
computing, such as location-based services or ubiquitous computing
applications; mobile applications in hybrid networks; and consistency
and data processing in sensor networks.
The conference focuses on research contributions within data

does not exceed 8 pages in the camera-ready IEEE style. Submissions
in PDF format must be uploaded to the conference web-based submission
system. More information will be available at http://mdm2007.uni-mannheim.de
Industrial/experience papers as well as proposals for panels, demos,
tutorials, and workshops are also sought by October 30th, 2006. Submission

CALL FOR PAPERS - TwUC 2006
First International Workshop on Trustworthy Ubiquitous Computing (TwUC
2006)
December 4-6, 2006 Yogyakarta, Indonesia
http://www.iiwas.org/conferences/twuc2006/
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marc Weiser presented his vision of disappearing and ubiquitous
computing more than 15 years ago. The big picture of the computer
introduced into our environment was a big innovation and the starting
point for various areas of research. In order to totally adopt the idea
of ubiquitous computing several houses were build, equipped with
technology and used as laboratory in order to find and test appliances
that are useful and could be made available in our everyday life. Within
the last years industry picked up the idea of integrating ubiquitous
computing and several already available products like remote controls
for your house exist and can be bought today.
In spite of many applications and projects in the area of ubiquitous and
pervasive computing the success is still far away. One of the main
reasons is the lack of acceptance of and confidence in this technology.
Although researchers and industry are working in all of these areas a
forum to elaborate security, reliability and privacy issues, that
resolve in trustworthy interfaces and computing environments for people
interacting within these ubiquitous environments is important.
The goal of TwUC 2006 workshop is to provide an international forum for
scientists, engineers and industry to address recent research results
and to present and discuss their ideas, theories, technologies, systems,
tools, applications, work in progress and experiences on all theoretical
and practical issues.

International Journal of Software Engineering and
Knowledge Engineering
Special Issue on Testing and Quality Assurance for
Component-Based Systems
Call for Papers
Widespread development and reuse of software
components has been regarded by
many as one of the next biggest phenomena for the
software industry. Reusing high-quality
software components in software construction has the
potential of drastically improving
the quality and development productivity of
component-based software systems.
However, widespread reuse of a software component with
poor quality may literally
lead to disasters. Component-based software
engineering involves many unique characteristics,
some of which have created new issues, challenges, and
needs in testing and quality
assurance of components and component-based software.
Testing and quality assurance
therefore plays a critical and pivotal role in the
construction of software components and
component-based software for different types of
systems, including enterprise systems,
web service technologies, online applications and
e-commerce systems, and wireless-based
solutions.
Although many published research papers address the
issues in component construction,
design and analysis, reuse and evaluation in
engineering component-based software systems,
there is a lack of effective solutions and methods to
support practitioners in the real world to
solve the challenges and issues in testing and quality
assurance of reusable software components
and systems. This special issue is intended to provide
a forum to present the recent research
