CALL FOR PAPERS
CIC2006
The 2006 International Conference on
Cooperative Internet Computing (CIC2006)
October 25-27, 2006, Hong Kong, China
http://www.comp.polyu.edu.hk/cic2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction
=============
Cooperative computing aims at enabling different parties to work
together towards a pre-defined non-trivial goal. It involves important
technological areas like computer supported cooperative work (CSCW),
workflow, computer-assisted design, databases, distributed systems, and
concurrent programming. In the past few years, the prosperity of
cooperative computing has been accelerated by the ubiquity of the
Internet and the advent of wireless technologies, giving rise to the new
research discipline of Cooperative Internet Computing (CIC). Now,
cooperating parties can work on the Internet at any time and place. At
the same time, we have also witnessed an enormous leap in communication
speed. This has opened up a wide range of new cooperative applications
that were not feasible in the past.
Publication
===========
The CIC2006 conference has partnered with World Scientific Publisher to
publish the conference proceedings as book chapters in a book entitled
"Cooperative Internet Computing". The book is scheduled to be published
after the conference. In addition, best papers will be selected for
publication in the International Journal on High Performance Computing.
Scope and Interests
====================
The Conference invites papers on all aspects of Cooperative Internet
Computing, and their applications. The topics of interest include, but
are not limited to:
* Cooperative Information System Architectures
* Human-Computer Interaction for Cooperation
* Agents and Brokers for Cooperative Computing
* Middleware for Collaboration
* Workflow Systems
* Distributed Multimedia Systems
* Collaborative Internet Learning
* Pedagogical Theories for Collaborative Internet Learning
* Mobile Cooperative Systems
* Evaluation Methodologies for CIC systems
* Interaction Models and Protocols for CIC Systems
* Internet Communication Infrastructure for Collaboration
* Computer-Supported Cooperative Work
* Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing
* Enterprise Knowledge Management
* Java, CORBA, DCOM, and XML Cooperative Application
* Innovative and Emergent CIC Applications
* Case Studies

+--[ Theme of the Conference ]-----------------------------+

The fusion of three important technologies: wireless
communication, distributed computing and the Internet
have played a key role in connecting people across the
globe for collaborative net-centric computing and
sharing of information. The research activities in these
areas can be centred around three major themes, namely,
network centric, program centric and data centric. The
focus of Net Centric theme is on networking and quality
of service issues. Program Centric theme is to deal with
middle layer issues and the interaction between
networking and software layers. Data Centric theme plays
a central role in enabling the integration of information
and applications running at geographically dispersed
locations interacting with both Net and Program Centric
layers.

Technical papers describing original,unpublished results
are solicited in the following areas but not limited to:

Net Centric:
- Network Design-Algorithms
- Cross-Layer Optimization
- Internet Protocols
- Fault Tolerance/ Network Survivability
- Wireless Networks
- Location management
- Ad hoc/Sensor networks
- Scheduling and Power Control
- Resource Management
- Network Security
- Quality of Service

Program Centric:
- Distributed Algorithms
- Grid Computing
- Middleware
- Web-based Services
- E-commerce/M-commerce
- Mobile Agents
- Mobile Computing
- Distributed System Security
- Self-stablizing Distributed System

Data Centric:
- Data Grid
- Data Engineering
- Query Optimization
- Searching and Indexing
- Data Replication and Caching
- Un-structured and Semi-structured Data
- Streamed Data Management
- Multimedia Streams/Databases

More details of the conference may be found at

+----------------------------------------------------------+
+--[ Publications ]----------------------------------------+

Like previous years proceedings will be published in
LNCS, Springer. (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs)

+----------------------------------------------------------+
+--[ Important Dates ]-------------------------------------+
Due to Many Requests, the deadline for the paper
submission has been extended to 11th June 2006.

Paper Submission date : 25th May 2006
: 11th June, 2006 (Extended)
Notification of Acceptance : 25th August 2006
Camera Ready Copy Due : 15th September 2006

+----------------------------------------------------------+
+--[ Paper Submission ]------------------------------------+

The authors are requested to submit papers through the
online submission link from conference web site.
The submission type must be either PDF or PS. We regret
inability to accept MS Word files. The page limit for
all submissions is 14 pages. Authors are requested to
follow LNCS format (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs)
At least one of the authors of the accepted papers must
attend the conference.

Last year, ICDCIT attracted over 450 submissions with
the acceptance rate in the range of 15-18%.

We strongly discourage concurrent submissions of the
same paper to multiple conferences / journals.

+----------------------------------------------------------+
+--[ Review ]----------------------------------------------+

All submissions will be subjected to technical reviews
by at least three experts. All accepted papers and
abstract of keynote/invited talks will appear in the
proceedings.

+----------------------------------------------------------+
+--[ Tutorials ]-------------------------------------------+

There will be tutorials on the first day of the
conference (December 20, 2006). Proposals are invited
for tutorials on relevant subjects. A tutorial proposal

Please note that at least one author of each accepted
submission must attend the conference. Submission of a
paper is not required for attendance at the conference.
However, in the event that the conference cannot
accommodate all who would like to participate, those who
have submitted a paper (in any category) will be given
priority for registration.
