Recognizing the growing importance of and interest in CS&E, the SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing (SISC) will devote a special issue to innovative research papers in CS&E. The guest editors are seeking papers that tackle problems from the real world and make a research contribution in one or more of the techniques of CS&E. Papers should illustrate new and useful techniques and tools for solving realistic problems, which often have complicated three-dimensional geometries, multiple scales, heterogeneities, anisotropies, and multi-physical or biological descriptions. Though such problem domains often thwart proofs of accuracy or efficiency, papers should address validation and verification through reduction to analyzable cases and convergence studies, as applicable, and comparisons with alternative approaches. Deadlines: The deadline for submission of papers is April 30, 2007, following the SIAM Conference on CS&E: http://www.siam.org/meetings/cse07/ Review Process: Papers will be subject to review according to SISC standards by a guest Editorial Board. A lot of research work has been done in these research fields, especially in Distributed Shared Memory (DSM) systems. But the Grid environment comes with new challenges, e.g. scalability, fault tolerance, and network latency. The DSC 2007 workshop continues the tradition of its successful six ancestor workshops on Distributed Shared Memory with a broader scope. The workshop is organized at the CCGrid 2007 symposium and will serve as a major forum to present and share the latest research results of the work by international researchers, developers, and users. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * data sharing and distributed shared memory systems on clusters and grids * synchronization and consistency in high-performance networks * applications using shared memory systems * fault tolerance and fall-back strategies * consistencies models and protocols * performance and debugging tools * distributed memory management * hardware and compiler support * disconnected shared storage * multi-core system clusters * OpenMP deployment * memory models * benchmarking * scalability We also encourage authors to present novel ideas, critique of existing work, and application examples, which demonstrate how DSC technology could be effectively deployed. We also welcome practical work which applies DSC in novel and interesting ways. THIRD CALL FOR PAPERS ====================== MEGA is the acronym for Effective Methods in Algebraic Geometry (and its equivalent in Italian, French, Spanish, German, Russian etc.), a series of roughly biannual conferences on computational and application aspects of Algebraic Geometry and related topics, with very high standards. Previous meetings were held in 1990 (Castiglioncello, Italy), 1992 (Nice, France), 1994 (Santander, Spain), 1996 (Eindhoven, Nederlands), 1998 (Malo, France), 2000 (Bath, UK), 2003 (Kaiserslautern, Germany) and 2005 (Alghero, Italy). Proceedings containing a selection of the papers and invited talks presented at previous conferences have been published by Birkhaeuser in the series Progress in Mathematics (volumes 94, 109, 143), by the Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra (volumes 117, 118, 139, 164), and by the Journal of Symbolic Computation (volume 39/3-4 and one double issue to appear). We plan to publish selected papers from the conference in a special issue of the Journal of Symbolic Computation. MEGA 2007 will be held at the "bifeb" (a center for adult education) in "Strobl am Wolfgangsee", Austria, from June 24 to 30, 2007. Rapid advances are being reported by many researchers and forums as regards understanding numerous issues in such paradigms, from theoretic to application aspects. Moreover, the continuous development of Internet and the construction of new P2P and Grid infrastructures are making possible the development of large scale applications from many fields of science and engineering. Despite these advances, Computational Grids and P2P systems remain difficult for many users to bring such systems to real word applications. Indeed, the research topics related to the Grid, Peer-to-Peer and Internet computing are recent and require the investigation of many issues such as effective harnessing of Internet connected resources, development of new methods and techniques, which offer users a transparent, efficient and secured access to resources, efficient allocation of resources, decentralization and self-organization. These issues present nowadays real challenges to the development of large distributed systems and applications. The aim of this workshop is to present innovative researches, methods and techniques related to P2P, Grid and Internet computing. The workshop seeks original contributions in all relevant areas, including but not limited to the following topics.
