******************* ATC-07 Call For Papers**********************
The 4th International Conference on Autonomic
and Trusted Computing (ATC-07)
- Bring Safe, Self-x and Organic Computing Systems into Reality -
http://www.atc-conference.org/2007/http://ehpclab.stfx.ca/~atc07/
Organized by Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China
In Cooperation with the IEEE Computer Society
Hong Kong, China, July 11-13, 2007
******************************************************
Computing systems including hardware, software, communication and
networks are growing towards an ever increasing scale and heterogeneity,
becoming overly complex. Such complexity is getting even more critical
with the ubiquitous permeation of embedded devices and other pervasive
systems. To cope with the growing and ubiquitous complexity, Autonomic
Computing (AC) focuses on self-manageable computing and communication
systems that exhibit self-awareness, self-configuration, self-optimization,
self-healing, self-protection and other self-x operations to the maximum
extent possible without human intervention or guidance. Organic Computing
(OC) additionally emphasizes natural-analogue concepts like
self-organization and controlled emergence.
Any autonomic or organic system must be trustworthy to avoid the risk
of losing control and retain confidence that the system will not fail.
Trust and/or distrust relationships in the Internet and in pervasive
infrastructures are key factors to enable dynamic interaction and
cooperation of various users, systems and services. Trusted/Trustworthy
Computing (TC) aims at making computing and communication systems as
well as services available, predictable, traceable, controllable,
assessable, sustainable, dependable, persist-able, security/privacy
protect-able, etc.
A series of grand challenges exist to achieve practical self-manageable
autonomic systems with truly trustworthy services. ATC-07 addresses the
most innovative research and development in these challenging areas and
includes all technical aspects related to autonomic/organic computing
(AC/OC) and trusted computing (TC). ATC-07 is a successor of the First
Int'l Workshop on Trusted and Autonomic Ubiquitous and Embedded Systems
(TAUES-05, Japan, Dec.), the Int'l Workshop on Trusted and Autonomic
Computing Systems (TACS-06, Austria, Apr.), and the 3rd International
Conference on Autonomic and Trusted Computing (ATC-06, Three Gorges,
China, Sep.).
Topics include but are not limited to the following:
-AC/OC Theory and Models
* Nervous/organic models, negotiation, cooperation,
competition, self-organization, emergence, etc.
-AC/OC Architectures and Systems
* Autonomic elements & their relationship, frameworks,
middleware, observer/controller architectures, etc.
-AC/OC Components and Modules
* Memory, storage, database, device, server, proxy,
software, OS, I/O, etc.
-AC/OC Communication and Services
* Networks, self-organized net, web service, grid,
P2P, semantics, agent, transaction, etc.
-AC/OC Tools and Interfaces
* Tools/interfaces for AC/OC system development,
test, monitoring, assessment, supervision, etc.

* Models and semantics of trust, distrust, mistrust,
over-trust, cheat, risk, reputation, reliability, etc.
-Trust-related Security and Privacy
* Trust-related secure architecture, framework, policy,
intrusion detection/awareness, protocols, etc.
-Trusted Reliable and Dependable Systems

The Fourth High-Performance Grid Computing Workshop (HPGC)
http://www.cs.unb.ca/profs/aubanel/hpgc/
------------------------------------------------------------
Held in conjunction with The 20th IEEE International Parallel and
Distributed Processing Symposium - IPDPS'2006, March 26-30, 2007
Computational grids allow the federation of significant computational
and storage resources to solve challenging problems in science,
engineering, medicine, finance, and entertainment. Involvement of
multi-core platforms and wireless communications in the traditional
grids comprised of clusters, workstations, and supercomputers pose new
challenges to manage the grids and open new opportunities in using them.
The High Performance Grid Computing workshop provides a forum for
presenting research results on most aspects of grid computing, with a
focus on performance, in the following areas: Applications,
Benchmarking, Infrastructure, Management and Scheduling, Partitioning
and Load Balancing, and Programming Models.
Topics
-----
* Applications: Theory and practice of composing grid applications
consisting of multiple interacting tasks. Solution of large problems on

Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research
Call for Papers
Special Issue on Mobile Commerce
Guest editors:
Axel Küpper (Ludwig Maximilian University Munich, Germany) and
Jerry Gao (San Jose State University, USA)
Mobile Commerce (M-Commerce) deals with selling goods, services, and
content, including advertising and payment transactions, over mobile
networks, and hence follows similar purposes as E-Commerce in the fixed
Internet. Recently, several key technologies in wireless communication
have set up the solid base for the fast advance of M-Commerce in the near
future. They are fast 3G data services, personal area communications via
Bluetooth, sophisticated mobile phones with in-built cameras and color
displays, RFID, positioning, and mobile television, to name only a few.
Furthermore, new services around the Web2.0 paradigm, which also cover
M-Commerce, are gaining more and more momentum to fulfill the demands of
both stationary and mobile users. And finally, service creators have
realized that M-Commerce services cannot be simply deployed as an
alternative or supplement to successful E-Commerce services. Rather, new
services, related business models and transaction patterns have to be
identified and realized in order to acquire and serve customers being on
the move.
The purpose of this special issue is to offer an overview of latest
M-Commerce activities in research and development and to present
innovative ideas and solutions that bridge the gap between new and
emerging technologies on the one hand and customer demands on the other.
Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:
Business aspects:
Next generation M-Commerce services
Mobile Marketing structures, models, and analysis
Mobile supply chain management
Creating new market spaces for M-Commerce
M-Commerce business models and strategies
Lessons learned from existing M-Commerce business services and
applications
Case studies and experiences (maybe dedicated to a particular region
of the world)
Technology aspects:
Mobile payment solutions, systems and platforms
Wireless security problems and solutions
Mobile privacy
Digital Rights Management
Service platforms for supporting M-Commerce
Location and context-aware M-Commerce services
Mobile television solutions for supporting M-Commerce
Wireless advertising solutions, systems, and platforms
Innovative M-Commerce services and application systems
RFID-enabled M-Commerce systems and applications
Barcode processing and applications in M-Commerce
Submission
Authors are invited to submit original and significant research
contributions in the aforementioned areas. Papers should not be previously
published, or currently submitted for consideration elsewhere. Manuscripts
must be limited to 15 pages in the journal format (see
http://www.jtaer.com/). All submissions will be reviewed according to the
journal peer-review policy. Accepted papers will be published in the
special issue on Mobile Commerce of the Journal of Theoretical and Applied
Electronic Commerce Research (to appear in August 2007). Please submit

==========================================================================
SCOPE:
The rapid advances in computing and wireless communication
technologies along with their integration into commodity devices such
as personal digital assistants, mobile phones, and portable computers
provide a technical infrastructure that enables a broad range of
mobile services and applications. These include scenarios where
seamless access to a computing infrastructure is provided, scenarios

ad hoc networks, and hybrid scenarios that combine these two.
The continued miniaturization of computing devices along with
improvements in the performance/price ratio enable new services and
applications, e.g., in environmental monitoring and transportation.
Although substantial research has been conducted, this area remains
ripe with open research challenges, e.g., in relation to context-aware
computing, such as location-based services or ubiquitous computing
applications; mobile applications in hybrid networks; and consistency
and data processing in sensor networks.
The conference focuses on research contributions within data
management in relation to mobile, wearable, and pervasive computing.
