Different from traditional client-server model, a host node in a P2P system can act as both a server and a client, which has significantly changed the way of online information sharing and distribution. P2P techniques bear the potential to realize information systems that scale to voluminous information on very large numbers of participating nodes, while facing many fundamental research challenges for information management. This workshop intends to bring together researchers and practitioners working on P2P information systems from different disciplines. We invite papers that facilitate better understanding of challenges of P2P information management, apply ideas and techniques from different aspects, and propose innovative solutions to those challenges. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * P2P Applications and Services * P2P Information Systems and Architectures * Models and Query Languages for P2P Information Systems * P2P Information Search Techniques * Indexing, Caching and Replication Techniques for P2P Systems * Metadata for P2P Information Management * P2P Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery * Adaptive P2P Information Systems * Mobile P2P Information Retrieval * P2P Multimedia Information Management * P2P Content Delivery * Security and Robustness in P2P Information Systems * Inter-operability Issues in Heterogeneous P2P Information Systems * Dynamics of P2P Original and previously unpublished technical papers are solicited for presentation at the workshop and publication in the proceedings. Papers reporting original research, applications, development of prototypes, industrial experiences, technologies and standards are welcome. Submissions must not exceed 8 pages in IEEE conference paper format (including references, figures and tables). All submissions should be submitted electronically in Postscript or Adobe PDF format through the COCUS web site. Detailed information can be found in the workshop website (www.p2p-im.org). All paper submissions will be carefully reviewed by experts and returned to the author(s) with comments to ensure the high quality of the accepted papers. The authors of accepted papers must present their papers at the workshop. At least one author of each accepted paper must be registered for the workshop in order for that paper to appear in the proceedings and to be scheduled for presentation. Publication: The workshop proceedings will be published by IEEE Press and available online through IEEE Xplore. Different layers of middleware, e.g., for managing Grid resources, computing tasks, data, and information, form the basic framework for realising an e-Science environment. By automating the management of experiment routines, a scientific workflow management system hides the underlying integration details of the e-Science resources and allows a scientist to focus on the high level domain specific aspects of the experiments. The support for scientific workflows is being recognised a crucial feature for introducing an e-Science environment to application scientists from different domains. The WSES workshop focuses on practical aspects of scientific workflow management systems: design, implementation, applications in all fields of computational science, interoperability among workflows and the e-Science infrastructure, e.g., knowledge framework, for workflow management. The workshop aims to provide a forum for researchers and developers in the field of e-Science to exchange the latest experience and research ideas on scientific workflow management and e-Science. This workshop will bring together those who use e-learning systems and work on security issues related to e-learning. We will evaluate the expectations of users concerning security in e-learning and define the perceived security threats. The workshop will focus on extending the scope of current solutions. TOPICS OF INTEREST Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Access Control * Auditing * DRM * Security (CIA) and Dependability (reliability, maintainability, safety, integrity, availability) * Authorization and Authentication * Standards, Guidelines and Certification * Privacy-enhancing technologies INTRODUCTION Although the roots of e-learning date back to the 19th century's correspondence-based learning, e-learning currently receives an unprecedented impetus by the fact that industry and universities alike strive to streamline the teaching process. Just-in-time (JIT) principles have already been adopted by many corporate training programs; some even advocate the term 'just-enough' to consider the specific needs of individual learners in a corporate setting. Considering the enormous costs involved in creating and maintaining courses, it is surprising that security is not yet considered as an important issue by most people involved including teachers and students. Unlike traditional security research, which has largely been driven by military requirements to enforce secrecy, in e-learning it is not the information itself that has to be protected but the way it is presented. In most cases the knowledge contained in e-learning programs is more or less widely available; therefore, the asset is not the information itself but the hypermedia presentation used to convey it (Weippl, 2005); moreover, the privacy of students and teachers also needs to be protected to allow teaching/learning processes that are similar to a class room (Borcea, Donker, Franz, Pfitzmann, & Wahrig, 2005; El-Khatib, Korba, Xu, & Yee, 2003). The etymological roots of secure can be found in se without, or apart from, and cura to care for, or be concerned about (Landwehr, 2001). Consequently, secure in the context of e-learning means that in a secure teaching environment users need not be concerned about the threats that are specific to the e-learning platforms or to the electronic communication in general. A secure learning platform should incorporate all the aspects of security and make most of the processes more transparent to the teacher and the student. Although we are working in an educational environment, we must understand that security must be realized cost efficiently, focusing on the most important requirements (Wolpers & Grohmann, 2005). Like in most organizational processes the feedback of all stakeholders is important; customized tools could be used to manage this process. Even though, technical security solutions are important we must also include organizational aspects of security. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Submit a paper of up to 6 pages. Similarly, agent research community have developed many techniques and tools to construct large scale complex, self organising and autonomous systems with capabilities of effective problem solving, communication, knowledge representation, negotiating on complex issues and coordinating complex activities. In addition to that, network research community has developed numerous models and protocols to efficientl! y and reliably communicate data between different distributed systems in large scale and complex networks which are used by large population of users across the globe. Much work in the above disciplines has traditionally been operating on different levels, distinct research issues, and several technology directions. Our theme of WAMIS 2006 is to unify the picture of these disciplines such that they can support each other. We are currently witnessing that the boundaries between these disciplines are disappearing. For example, multi-agents have been used at the network as well as database levels. Likewise, database techniques are applied to multi-agents and to the network data management. This workshop aims to bring together researchers from the above disciplines in an effort to highlight the state-of-the-art and discuss the challenges and opportunities to explore new research directions and develop new ideas. We strongly welcome submissions that include results which advance the state of the art relating to the theme of the workshop, either through theoretical analysis or experimental analysis, in order to bridge the gaps and strengthen the connection between these areas. The main themes, to be addressed include, but not limited to: . Agent and multi-agent systems and their applications . Architectures for Web and mobile information systems . Data models and query languages . Human-Web agent interactions . Information searching techniques . Network performance and reliability . P2P data and knowledge sharing . Authors of high quality papers presented at the workshop will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers for publication in a special issue of an international journal (to be announced).
