The IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE 2005) is
an international forum for researchers and practitioners from different
areas of computer science and management science to exchange information on
the engineering design, enabling technologies, and anecdotal experiences as
related to e-business, to identify the emerging research topics, as well as
to help shape the future of IT-transformed enterprise, government and
commerce. ICEBE 2005 is a follow-on conference to the highly successful
CEC-East 2004 (http://tab.computer.org/tcec/cec04-east/), and a sister
event of the IEEE 7th International Conference on e-Commerce Technology
(CEC 2005, http://cec05.in.tum.de/), which will be held in Munich,
Germany, July 19-22, 2005.
The technical program of ICEBE 2005 will consist of keynote speeches, paper
presentations, and panel discussion. ICEBE 2005 will also include an
industry track to foster the interaction between the academics and the
industry, and a student workshop for graduate students to receive
constructive feedback on their thesis research from their peers and senior
faculty members.
The conference theme will be “enabling e-business in emerging markets”. The
conference scope spans the areas of middleware, databases, management
information systems, Web, and multimedia. Submissions of high quality
papers describing mature results or on-going work are invited. Topics of
interest include but are not limited to the following:

PAPER SUBMISSION

Both research and industrial papers are solicited. Research papers must be
unpublished and not exceed 10 single-spaced pages. Industrial papers must
not exceed 6 single-spaced pages and should describe interesting technical
aspects of industrial applications, prototypes, experiences, and standards.
For easy identification, all industrial papers should have as their title
"Industry Track: rest of title." Authors are invited to submit papers
electronically through the conference Web site at
http://www.cs.hku.hk/icebe2005/ on or before April 5, 2005. PDF format is
preferred but PostScript format is acceptable. We also solicit submissions
to the student workshop. Submission guidelines for the student
workshop can be found at the conference Web site.
Conference proceedings will be published by Springer Verlag (pending) as an
LNCS volume, which is indexed by SCIe and EI. Submissions must not be
published or submitted for another conference. Selected papers of the
conference will also be published in a journal special issue. Awards will
be given for the best research paper and the best student paper.

Theme: Bridge the Gap between Business Services and IT Services
The 2005 IEEE International Conference on Web Services (ICWS 2005) is the
THIRD year of ICWS focusing on Web Services. The long-term goal of ICWS is to
build up a reputable and respectable conference for the international
community. ICWS is a forum for researchers and industry practitioners to exchange
information regarding advancements in the state of the art and practice of Web
Services, as well as to identify the emerging research topics and define the
future of Web Services computing. ICWS 2005 is sponsored by IEEE Computer
Society Technical Steering Committee (a.k.a. Technical Community) for Services
Computing (TSC-SC) and will be co-located with the 2005 IEEE International
Conference on Services Computing (SCC 2005). The theme of this joint IEEE
conference on SERVICES is "Bridge the Gap between Business Services and IT
Services".
ICWS 2004 was held in San Diego, California, July 6-9, 2004. A total of 230
papers were submitted to ICWS in 2004, 66 were accepted as full research
papers. ICWS 2004 had 14 research sessions, 4 industry sessions, 5 tutorials, 4
panels, and 3 poster paper sessions. ICWS 2004 had attracted about 250
registered participants from 22 countries and regions. ICWS 2003 and ICWS 2004 have
proven to be an excellent catalyst for research & collaboration, and we
fully expect that ICWS 2005 will continue this trend.
The program of ICWS 2005 will continue to feature research papers with a
wide range of topics, focusing on difference aspects of IT services. Some of
the topics include Web Services specifications and enhancements, Web Services
discovery, Web Services security, Web Services based applications, Web
Services standards and technologies, Web Services applications and solutions, Web
Services realizations, semantic Web Services, and other emerging technologies
or solutions. All accepted papers will be published in the conference
proceedings in hardcopy and on-line version by the IEEE Computer Society. The full
version of the selected best papers published in the ICWS 2005 will be invited
to publication in the International Journal of Web Services Research (JWSR)
(by Idea Group) and possibly other related journals. The ICWS 2005
Proceedings and JWSR have both been selected to be included in EI Compendex.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS:
Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers that
are not being considered in another forum. Manuscripts will be limited to 8-10
(IEEE Proceeding style) pages and be printed on 10 or 12 size font. Please
follow the IEEE Computer Society Press Proceedings Author Guidelines to prepare
your papers. Electronic submission of manuscripts (in PDF or Word format) is
required. Detailed Instructions for electronic paper submission, panel
proposals, tutorial proposals, and review process can be found at
http://conferences.computer.org/icws/2005/ . The length of the camera-ready of an accepted
paper will be limited to 8 (IEEE style) pages. At least one author of each
accepted paper is required to attend the conference and present the paper. The
IEEE ICWS 2005 Proceedings will be collected in EI Compendex. The detailed

keynotes, panels, and tutorials will be invited to submit articles!

EVALUATION PROCESS:
All submissions will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity,
and soundness. Each paper will be refereed by at least two to three
researchers in the topical area.
BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARDS:
One Best Paper award and 1-3 Best Student Paper Awards will be presented by
ICWS 2005. The first author of the best student papers should be full-time
students.

Theme: Bridge the Gap between Business Services and IT Services
Services now account for more than half of the U.S. economy. Services
Computing, as a new cross discipline, addresses how to enable IT technology to
help people perform business services more efficiently and effectively. As we
can see, Services Computing currently shapes the processes of business
modeling, business consulting, solution creation, service delivery, and software
architecture design, development and deployment.
The 2005 IEEE International Conference on Services Computing (SCC 2005)
aims to the topics of bridging the gap between Business Services and IT Services
with a new ground breaking technology suite that includes Web services and
service-oriented architecture (SOA), business process integration and
performance management, utility/grid computing and autonomic computing. It is
sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Steering Committee for Services
Computing (TSC-SC) and will be co-located with the 2005 IEEE International
Conference on Web Services (ICWS 2005). The theme of this joint IEEE conference on
SERVICES is "Bridge the Gap between Business Services and IT Services".
SCC 2004 was held in Shanghai, China, September 15-18, 2004. A total of 330
papers were submitted to SCC 2004. Submissions were from over 30 countries
and regions. 37 were accepted as full research papers, 9 were accepted as
short papers, and 50 were accepted as special session papers.

CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION
7th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON EDUCATION
May 20-22, 2005
Athens, Greece

The Athens Institute for Education and Research
(ATINER) will hold its 7th International Conference in
Athens, Greece, May 20-22, 2005 on Education.
The registration fee is 250 euro, covering access to
all sessions, 1 Dinner, 2 lunches, coffee breaks and
conference material. There is a reduced fee for
qualified Ph.D. Students of 150 euro. Special
arrangements will be made with local hotels for a
limited number of rooms to be available at a special
conference rate. In addition, a tour to picturesque
Greek Islands and a Greek Night will be organized.
The aim of the conference is to bring together
scholars and students from FACULTIES OF EDUCATION,
PSYCHOLOGY, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, ECONOMICS, SOCIAL
SCIENCES and other related disciplines to identify
areas of common research issues as well as
methodological and analytical differences. Special
sessions will be devoted to the teaching methodology
and the history of education.
Papers (in English) from all areas of education are
welcome. Selected papers will be published in a
Special Volume of the Conference Proceedings or Edited
Books. For Books and Proceedings of previous
conferences you may visit www.atiner.gr. Currently
there is no space available for new proposals to be
presented. However, particularly good proposals can be
reviewed, if any of those already accepted cancel
their participation (they were given a deadline to
submit their registration). If you want to
participate without presenting a paper, i.e. chair a
session, evaluate papers to be included in the
conference proceedings or books, contribute to the
editing, or any other offer to help please send an
