FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS
**************************************************
*** Invited Session "Model-Driven Development" ***
**************************************************
At the 8th World Multi-Conference on
Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics (SCI 2004)
July 18-21, 2004 - Orlando, Florida, USA
IMPORTANT DATES:
March 7th, 2004:
Submission deadline
March 14th, 2004:
Acceptance notification
March 31st, 2004:
Camera-ready papers due: hard copies and electronic versions.
July 18th-21st, 2004:
SCI Multi-Conference, including Invited Session on MDD
SESSION HOMEPAGE:
http://www.wifo.uni-mannheim.de/MDD2004/
SCOPE:
Model-Driven Development (MDD) is the next step in raising
the levels of abstraction in software development. MDD
promises a more transparent and simplified software
development process. This is achieved by putting different
kinds of models and automated code generation based on those
models in the center of attention. Although there are some
very prominent representatives of MDD, such as OMG's UML-
based MDA initiative, MDD technologies and tools are still
new and real world applications are rare. The goal of this
session is to focus on the problems and solutions that arise
from the adoption of MDD techniques on a broad theoretical
and practical scope.
TOPICS:
Relevant topics include but are not limited to:
* State of the art of MDD technologies and tools
* Migration of legacy applications to MDD
* Issues of MDD modeling techniques and notations, such as UML
* Performance and other issues of automatically generated code
* Model to model transformations
* OMG's Model-Driven Architecture (MDA)
* Design and reusability of domain-specific models
* Use of classic technologies for code generation
(e.g. XSLT) in conjunction with MDD
* Empirical validation of the benefits of MDD
* State of the practice reports
In order to promote the exchange between research and
practice this session is not limited to theoretical work.
Submissions can be pure research, experience reports, or
combinations of both. Papers must describe original work and
must not have been accepted or submitted for publication
elsewhere.
SUBMISSION, EVALUATION PROCESS, AND PUBLICATION:
You are invited to submit a PDF-version of a draft paper
(2000-5000 words) to the session organizers T. Dickopp
(dickopp(a)wifo3.uni-mannheim.de) or A. Korthaus
(korthaus(a)uni-mannheim.de) by the due date. Camera-ready
papers should be formatted in IEEE style. Papers must not
have been previously published or currently submitted for
publication elsewhere.
The first page of the draft paper should include title of
the paper, name, affiliation, postal address, e-mail
address, telephone number, and fax number for each author.
The first page should also include the name of the author
who will be presenting the paper (if accepted) and a maximum
of five keywords.
Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance,
clarity, and soundness. Two researchers in the topical area
will referee each paper. One person will review the camera-
ready papers.
The best 10% of the regular conference papers, according to
the reviewers, will be published in SCI Journal. Invited,
non-peer reviewed papers, might also be accepted considering
the CV of the author(s). Some of these invited papers, if
chosen by the session chair as the best paper of the
session, might also be published in SCI Journal, because the
30% of sessions' best papers will also be published in the
journal. All accepted papers, which should not exceed six
single-spaced typed pages, will be published by means of
paper and electronic proceedings.

CALL FOR PAPERS (Kurzfassung)
für die 9. Europäische Jahrestagung der
Gesellschaft für Medien in der Wissenschaft
vom 15. - 17. September 2004 an der Universität Graz
Kommen digitale Medien an den Hochschulen
in die Jahre?
Termine
bis 29. Februar 2004: Einreichen Ihres Beitrags
am 15. Mai 2004: Benachrichtigung über angenommene
Beiträge
Themenschwerpunkte des Beitragsformates FULL PAPER und VORTRAG in einer
Session
1. Organisatorische Restrukturierungen von Services im Bereich digitale
Medien in den Hochschulen
2. Was erwarten Studierende von digitalen Medien und IKT Services an
ihren Hochschulen?
einzureichen.
1. Strategien zur Einwerbung von Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekten
2. Rechtsfragen zu digitalen Medien in der Hochschullehre
3. Medienproduktion
4. Evaluation und Qualitätssicherung
5. Marketing, Branding und Märkte
