The popularity of robots in educational scenarios is constantly rising. They are valuable tools which can be used in many different disciplines as demonstrators, in lab classes and as platforms for PhD research. Recently, the topic of educational robotics has been introduced at conferences and examples and applications have been reported. To provide suitable platforms for teaching and research, roboticists need to know the requirements of educators for their specific needs. At universities these can be quite different to commercial application with focus, for example, on flexibility, modularity, ease of use, and financial constraints.
