Dear All,
As the Organising Chair, it is my pleasure to draw your attention to the Call
for Papers of forthcomming IFIP working conference on "Information Systems
Perspectives and Challenges in the Context of Globalisation" The conference
will be held in the Athens University of Economics and Business, Athens,
Greece, 15-17 June 2003. www.aueb.gr/ifip-isglob03.
This conference is organised jointly with two very active IFIP working
groups, WG 8.2 (Information Systems and Organisations) and WG 9.4 (IT in
Developing Countries). Geoff Walshham (University of Cambridge) is the
General Chair of the conference, Ramiro Montealegre (U of Colorado), and
Mikko Corpela (U of Kuopio, Finland) are the program co-chairs. The deadline
for sumbissions is October 30, 2002.
Accepted full papers will be incorporated in the proceedings volume to be
published by Kluwer. Apart from full papers we also solicit submissions for
work-in-progress, panels, workshops and tutorials. One day before the
conference, ware also organising the first IS PhD Supervisors' Workshop
(June 14, 2003). (For participation details contact: David Avison,
avison(a)essec.fr)
We expect, as is the norm with working conferences of these groups, a vibrant
but relaxed atmosphere, high quality academic contributions, and above all,
challenging and stimulating discussions among key researchers and
practitioners in this field from all over the world.
June is usually high season for conferences. The IFIP ISGLOB03 in Athens is
nicely scheduled after the Bled e-commerce conference, and before the ECIS
conference in Naples to allow people an opportunity to maximise the benefits
from their overseas conference travel.
Looking forward to welcoming you in Athens,
Best Regards,
Angeliki

previously publicized for attendees to the 11th Security Symposium
being held August 5-9 and the Java VM Symposium being held August
1-2. Both prospective and registered attendees will receive the new
$159 rate. In order to offer this rate, we must guarantee that a
certain number of sleeping rooms will be used during the conference.
And, if those guarantees are not met, we will be assessed penalties
which are often quite high. Therefore, we encourage attendees to book
at the headquarters hotel.

(IASTED) ยท Technical Committee on Law and Technology
The International Society of Law and Technology (ISLAT)
with the cooperation of The Boston Patent Law Association (BPLA)
LOCATION
LawTech 2002 will be held at the Cambridge Marriott in Massachusetts,
adjacent to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Located across
the Charles River from Boston, Cambridge offers an exciting multicultural
setting as well as two of the world's premier educational institutions.
Founded in 1630 as the first seat of government for the Massachusetts Bay
Colony, Cambridge has developed into an international community merging
history, education, arts, and culture within its lively neighborhoods.
Attractions include Harvard Square, Beacon Hill, and the Faneuil Hall
Marketplace. The heavy industries of the nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries have been replaced by technology-based enterprises, including
electronics, self-developing film and cameras, software, and biotechnology
research.
PURPOSE
This conference is an international forum for lawyers, computer scientists,
and engineers interested in understanding the latest developments and
implications of technology in the field of law. It is an opportunity to
exchange ideas and information related to the intersection of these two
areas. The conference will address both the legal ramifications of new
technology and how technology advances the field of law. All papers
submitted to this conference will be peer reviewed by at least two members

practical experiences and new trends in the areas will be the topics
of interest again, as proven by preceding conferences. Its two days
program will feature a single track with 21 full papers. Pre-conference
tutorial on virtual private networks will also be offered.
Invited talks given by Dr. Steve Kent (BBN), Prof. Antonio Lioy
