:
: October 9-12, 2000, Salt Lake City, USA. www.er2000.byu.edu
: ----------------------------------------------------------------
:
: ER '99 was successfully held in Paris with over 200 attendees. The ER 2000
: organizing committee is soliciting papers and proposals for workshops, panels,
: tutorials, and industry presentations. Please note that the due date for
: workshop proposal is December 3, 1999.
:
: WORKSHOPS
:
: We solicit proposals for WORKSHOPS related to the conference topics (See
: below). Proposals should be submitted to the workshops chair, Bernhard
: Thalheim (thalheim(a)informatik.tu-cottbus.de) by December 3, 1999. Prior
: contact with the workshops chair is encouraged. We plan to hold
: workshops in parallel tracks on the last day of the conference, and plan
: to publish the proceedings in time for distribution at the conference.
:
: SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE
:
: The International Conference on Conceptual Modeling provides a forum for
: presenting and discussing current research and applications in which the
: major emphasis is on conceptual modeling. This conference was
: originally devoted to the Entity-Relationship (ER) model, but has
: expanded to include many types of semantic data modeling, behavior and
: process modeling, object-oriented systems modeling, and modeling for
: Web-based applications. The conference embraces all phases of software
: development including analysis, specification, design, implementation,
: evolution, and reengineering. It is the aim of this conference to
: present state-of-the-art research on emerging topics in conceptual
: modeling, to review important techniques in related areas, and to
: discuss application papers of interest to information system
: professionals as well as information technology academics and
: researchers.
:
: TOPICS OF INTEREST
:
: The conference focuses on conceptual modeling and advanced information
: systems design and implementation. Topics of interest include, but are
: not limited to, conceptual modeling as applied to:
:
: - active databases

: - CASE tools
: - ER, OO, ORM, and other approaches
: - database design methodologies
: - database integration
: - data warehouse and multidimensional modeling

:
: Authors should submit manuscripts via the ER2000 Web site, in the form
: of PostScript or PDF files (contact Stephen Liddle, the conference
: Webmaster, er2000(a)byu.edu, if you need assistance). Papers may not
: exceed 5000 words. Additionally we suggest using at least an 11-point
: font and no more than 20 pages. The ER2000 home page
: (www.er2000.byu.edu) contains further details on electronic submissions.
:
: The proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag in the LNCS series.
: Springer-Verlag publishes a full-text electronic version of LNCS in
: parallel with the printed version, thus the electronic source of
: accepted papers will be required (LaTeX 2e format is strongly
: preferred). Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit
: extended versions for possible publication in the Data & Knowledge
: Engineering journal.
:
: IMPORTANT DATES
:
: Workshop proposals: Dec. 3, 1999
: Paper abstracts: March 28, 2000
: Full papers: April 4, 2000
: Notification: June 13, 2000
: Camera-ready papers: July 11, 2000
:
: TUTORIAL PROPOSALS
:
: We solicit tutorial proposals of interest to ER2000 attendees.
: Proposals should identify the intended audience and give enough material
: to provide a sense of what will be covered. The target duration is
: either 1.5 or 3 hours. Proposals should be submitted in plain text by
: April 4, 2000 to the tutorials chair, Ling Liu (lingliu(a)cc.gatech.edu).
: Presenters of accepted proposals will be expected to provide a copy of
: their overheads or PowerPoint slides for photocopying in addition to a
: basic statement advertising their tutorial and a bibliographic statement
: by the camera-ready due date (July 11, 2000).
:

: **Outline
: The growth of the Internet has dramatically changed the way in which web
: data is managed, accessed and used commercially to conduct business
: electronically. Thus, WWW, a distributed global information resource, is not
: only important to individual users, but to business organizations. Today, a
: large number of companies, organizations, and customers are exploiting the
: opportunities offered by Internet-based electronic commerce solutions and
: many more are expected to follow. Companies have put their databases and
: product catalogues on the Web, search engines allow electronic market
: participants around the globe to locate potential trading partners, and a
: set of different protocols are established to exchange goods and services by
: using different business models and following different strategies. There is
: a diagnostic need for effective tools for information consumers, who must be
: able to easily locate in the web interested information from unstructured
: documents and pictures to structured, record oriented data. The effective
: and efficient access to the web information to support e-commerce activities
: has become a critical research area. This has led to the development of new
: e-commerce tools and technology, web data models and query languages, web
: site management system, auction and negotiation issues etc. The management
: of Web data is receiving a new set of challenges with the advent of XML and
: other standards.
: The main objective of this conference is to bring together researchers from
: different disciplines, developers, and users all interested in electronic
: commerce and web technologies and to assess current methodologies and new
: research directions. Although a natural focus will be on computer science
: issues, we expressly welcome technical research contributions from
: economics, business, law, and other relevant disciplines. The conference
: will be organized as a two track conference: E-commerce and Web
: Technologies. The major topics of interest include but are not limited to:
:
: **Electronic Commerce
: Auction and negotiation technology
: Agent-mediated electronic commerce
: Business Process Reengineering for electronic commerce
: Case studies in electronic commerce
: Consumer protection in electronic commerce
: Costs and benefit aspects

: on Logic-based Program Synthesis and Transformation) will be streams
: within CL2000. Moreover, the International Conference on Logic
: Programming (ICLP) is now integrated into CL2000. ILP2000 (10th
: International Conference on Inductive Logic Programming) is also
: collocated with CL2000.
:
: The organisation of CL2000 will provide facilities for half-day and
: one-day workshops, to be held on Saturday July 29th.
:
: Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit proposals for
: workshops on topics in computational logic.
: Anyone wishing to organise a workshop should send (possibly by email,
: in text or html format) a proposal no longer than two pages to the
: workshop coordinator by
:
: December 20, 1999
:
: The proposal should describe the topic of the proposed workshop and
: its relevance to computational logic. Besides the contact information
: and the list of the organisers, the proposal should contain - when
: applicable - the following information:
:
: - proposed duration of the workshop (half day/one day),
: - description of previously organised similar workshops,
: - expected number of participants,
: - character of the workshop (formal/informal, via
: submission/invitation),
: - plans for publication of the proceedings.
:
: The workshop organisers will be responsible for maintaining a
: homepage, and for producing one hard copy of the proceedings in A4 or
: US-letter format. Organisers who whish to use a format different than
: A4 or US-letter are expected to produce the needed copies of
: proceedings as well.
:
: Proposals will be evaluated by the program committee and decisions
: will be made by January 10, 2000. Further information about the
: arrangements for workshops can be obtained from the workshop coordinator.

:
: Submissions on the above topics and related topics are invited. Submitted
: papers should preferably be typeset in LaTeX2e using the Springer document
: class llncs for the LNCS format, see
: http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html
